I'm sorry, but Sony has been known as a pretty shady company for a long while now.  If you actually thought your information was safe with them, it is just as much your fault as it is Sony's and the hackers fault. Should the hackers be punished?  Yes, I believe so.  Should Sony die?  Yes, I believe so.

I mean, I myself can imagine the pharmaceutical companies who did tests with experimental drugs and medicines to Africans without their knowledge, or those banks that were responsible for the global economic crisis and that afterwards went on to continue the same practics and company culture. Or the oil companies that went far in their dealings with corrupt regimes to keep the oil coming. All those I could imagine deserve to be punished.



Could you give the list of things that Sony has done that deserves justified punishment up to the point that a lot of posters here are even gleeful and happy about Sony's embarassment and damage done to it, no matter if innocent bystanders suffer loss in the process? Even more, that some people even think that those victims deserved it for using products of Sony?

Again, as I said in my PM response to you, you are convienently misreading posts. In my post as well in those of others here we have expressed sympathy for those customers who have suffered. One can express sympathy but also note that those affected should have known something like this could/would happen to Sony/SOE of all folks. Especially with their MMO history. They most certainly have pissed some people off such that they would do this kind of thing to them (Sony/SOE).

And I don't remember reading (may have missed it) a post where it was said the customers derserved it. I've only seen where folks said Sony/SOE deserved to get hacked. As I tried to point out in my initial response (which it seems in the passion of the moment that part was passed over) it was a logical thing for those hackers to do if they wanted to hurt Sony/SOE bad. Hurting their customers hurts them.

Now, don't try to force morals into that last statement. Logic has nothing to do with right and wrong. Most here would agree that it was morally wrong. But again, that has nothing to do with if what they did was logically, tactically right to achieve the end result they wanted, which again, was to hurt Sony/SOE. And hurting customers to the point they don't feel safe in doing business with a company will produce that result.



Meh my personal Opinion is that sony deserved everything they get and what they get in the future. I myself was a sony customer for many years, but they ruined every single MMO Game I have ever played, Never listen to what its customers actually want for example adding station cash reguardless of what its customers said.

Sony Sold Thousands if not millions of play station 3 consoles, they did not tell me when I purcahsed their service that I could not legally modify my own console, they just say on it that it will void warranty if removed, now they are filing false lawsuits against people for modifying their own PS3, Hotz for example did nothing illegal, but they use the DMCA act as a cover up just because they didn't want people modifying their own PS3 Consoles which everyone has a right to.

Now they got what they deserved in my honest opinion, anonymous hacked them, while anonymous doesn't work as a whole some of its members from what I have seen in their IRC Channels, YouTube, and other sites have it on there about Operation Payback, and I personally hope that whoever is screwing sony keeps it up because they have it coming no offense to those sony fans out there, because what sony is doing to its customers is just wrong.

As far as legal actions against hackers, Go Ahead and try it I really don't care but it will only make matters worse for sony, and sony has already made enemies with people they don't even want to deal with, even the FBI hasn't found all those responsible for it, and even if they do there will be more, and more.

You can't stop the FREE flow of Information.

Lets look at the time line to get a close look.

1. Sony take action against Hotz for modifying his own hardware which he owned, and screwed with an innocent person.

2. Sony then Violated Thousands of peoples Privacy by obtaining court orders of peoples IP addresses and such.

3. Then sony Mysteriously gets Hacked, and customer information exposed, sony fails to protect its customers.

4. The Hackers ultimate goal is to get a class action lawsuit against sony started, and if I find any of my information leaked anywhere online that points to sony then I will take actions against sony for failure to protect my privacy, and as far as my account with sony I could care less, and if they are going to make an offer to settle with me then it better be way better than 45 days free, and a sorry letter in my email, but they better allow Free modifcations to the PS3, and maybe even give me life time subscriptions to every game they have, Plus every game they have ever released for life because if a class action starts up and I find I have been a victim I am going to file against sony for this.

Nope I have no involvement with any of these so called Hacker groups on the internet, in fact I hate cheaters who have to come in and ruin our games, but I can cheer on those who are trying to do something right who have the knowledge of software and code and actually do something that is right in my opinion, something that our governments, and RL Courts fail to see when Sony, and these game industries sale us Game Consoles and do not requrie us to sign any agreement, or even some game service breaking their own Terms OF Service, but yet the rich companies win, well I got some news, not anymore, we as people have rights, and there are some people out there willing to protect these rights, and I will stand by them and spread the word of what they do that I feel is right.

Gamers have rights, and honestly even Lawyers, Courts, just pass a judgement, hell even some of them probabily are so stupid they don't even know what a MMO is, or have never done life as a gamer on the internet, so they have the right to judge who wins what all because of a companies Power and Greed Like sony.

Lets just say, Don't even bother trying to stop the free flow of information, Dont think your company is too rich, and youare not vulnurable, because someone out there, and someone willing will take down your company, and even the U.S Government, as they already have look at Government contractors like HB Gary who lost his Life & His job because of his mistakes on thinking he could spy and accept dirty money for gathering information look what Anonymous did, was anyone ever caught, Nope, and if so it continue.

Yeah it could, and even some things  I can think of over 9000X Worse than this, and if you track, and read the news like I do on things anonymous is involved in, then you know well what they could do if you are tracking what I am if any of them wanted to do such.

Should sony go down I believe so for everything they have done to its customers I hope that someone who knows what they are doing buys out their entire Industry and makes it a U.S Based company instead of a company in Japan, hell we all know about Japan's Recent Nuclear Incidents where they couldn't even control their own Nuclear plants, We all know about how Final Fantasy XIV online went down because of that, and we know how they couldn't even Control hackers in their sony service, as sony is a company that came from Japan 3 incidents from that same Country in one years time, with no solutions to any of them really.

So yeah I think sony should listen to what its people want, and the offers that were made to them already and start backing off these kids for simply wanting to modify their own hardware on their own system when they were never told they couldn't.
