  1. like i said earlier i walked in not expecting complexity of ANY sort, but bell's character was a really pleasant surprise? she's presented as a rival and villain from the start, and for the entire first half, she's kept as such; at first the narration does a good job at making her feel unpleasant, we see hints of her struggles through the first half, but when the second season reaches the climax, just like with bell's feelings, it all explodes at once, and they give it a decent amount of buildup, so it kinda hits pretty hard
  2.
  3. bell's struggles without giving much away are: a desire to feel loved unconditionally, reaching the top in every aspect to attain that love, being crushed under that weight and learning not only to love others, but learning to accept the love your friends give you
  4.
  5. this goes side by side with naru's own development because she's the opposite? naru loves unconditionally and freely, but she's also pretty insensitive because of that in a way? she has a loving family and friends, but doesn't understand about the other side that hasn't experienced that kind of lifestyle and walks around thinking it's the same for everyone. bell helps naru understand about making an effort and about doing your best for other people's happiness, naru helps bell understand what it means to love and be loved while also having fun, giving each other the perfect balance; they're complete opposites, but without the other, they wouldn't have grown to the point they did
