  2. ## Generic Minecraft port-forwarding guide ##
  3. #############################################
  4. NOTE: this isn't a full blown guide with specifics, treat it as a check list.
  5.
  6. Prerequisites:
  7. 1. You need to have admin access to all routers between your server and your modem (most people only have 1 router)
  8. 2. You need to be an admin on your server-hosting machine, or have someone who is an admin present
  9.
  10. Step #1:
  11. Set a static IP - Windows: http://bit.ly/1pQNEa1
  12. - OSX: http://bit.ly/25ztSEf
  13. - Debian/Ubuntu: http://bit.ly/22AkjDe
  14.
  15. Step #2:
  16. Port forward port 25565 on both UDP and TCP to your newly set static IP address - http://bit.ly/Kfd8ya
  17.
  18. Step #3:
  19. Repeat step #2 for each router in between your PC and the internet, if there is more than one.
  20.
  21. Step #4:
  22. Add your static IP to the "server-ip=" section of your server's server.properties.
  23.
  24. Step #5:
  25. Distribute your external IP to players - IPChicken.com
  26.
  27.
  28. If you've completed all steps on this list and it still doesn't work, then is your time to post on the forums, but not before.
