  1. Hello there Blizzard!
  2.
  3. I want to make WoW great again! And again.
  4.
  5. You may legitimately ask: isn't it great as it is now?
  6. And my answer is YES! But only the 10% of it. Or a bit more.
  7.
  8. Like, you mostly support only the last expansion. Now is the fifth one. Soo, subtract discarded Vanilla, new "Cataclysm" Vanilla, TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, Pandaria... And when Legion is released, we'll also get WoD out of the field.
  9. So yeah, roughly 10% of content is actually in the shape.
  10.
  11. You think we don't see what you are doing? This power-level feature, pay2lvl100. Get united with your friends? More like, don't spend your time with walking through those boring five continents we've given up on. What the hell? Is the content so forsaken, a player has to pay real money to NOT see it?
  12.
  13. Okay then, let's get to my ideas what to do.
  14.
  15. 1. Get original Vanilla running.
  16. DO NOT try to revive the older server software. No one actually wants it. The real frustration is: with all these new features added to WoW during these 10 years, why didn't anyone bother to improve the existing content?
  17. Adapt the modern WoW. Vanilla. But with 3 ACTION BARS! It's a dream! Named quest mobs respawning immediately. Superb! No boring weapon training. Awesome! Personal loot? Maybe... I don't think many people actually miss things like DKP, but...
  18.
  19. Yet, class quests, profession quests, class professions, it all must be returned. I wrote about it earlier.
  20. Give people an option to be rewarded not only with gear to rise your numbers, but with a way to be unique. To be a rogue who is actually trained at opening locks and brewing poisons. To be an alchemist who is actually essential for the raid. To be a valuable, hardly replaceable asset to your guild.
  21.
  22. The idea is: let there be Vanilla INSIDE modern WoW. Do not forsake the content. Keep it viable.
  23. And this gets us near the next question.
  24.
  25. 2. Let people choose.
  26. When a player creates a character, the game should ask him: which time period do you want to be your starting point?
  27. Do you want to start 4 years after the battle of Hyjal?
  28. Or do you want to start when the Legion invaded Azeroth and rise to level 70 to fight through the attunements (which must return not only in TBC) all the way to Kil'djeden?
  29. Or maybe you want to be a part of the New Forsaken resurrected by Val'kyrs?
  30.
  31. This choice will shape your vision of the game, trapping you in the scope of an expansion. And how will you get out of it?
  32.
  33. 3. GUILDWISE QUESTS!
  34. So, a player has created a Vanilla character. He is locked at level 60. He DOES NOT see any content and any players higher than that. They, in turn, can't see him. Phasing rules. What can he do for the transition to the next expansion?
  35. Here's how it should work.
  36. When a guild is created, it is automatically associated with the time period of its creators. Like, if it is made by Vanilla characters, it'll be stuck at Vanilla. And all of its followers.
  37. To advance to the next expansion, the guild must undertake a legendary quest! Which will involve:
  38. - guild achievements;
  39. - clearing all the raids on all difficulties;
  40. - signing a petition to advance; if there are enough followers, they are automatically placed in the new guild with the same name in the next expansion; what happens to the old guild... well, they might decide;
  41. - completing a BIG quest requiring the efforts of many players, something like An'Qiraj war effort quest;
  42. Moreover, why not rescale said war effort event to be a guild-wise quest? Or the opening of the Dark Portal and rebuilding the Honor Hold?
  43.
  44. The idea is: if you've created a character locked in one of the previous expansions, you must earn the option to advance further through each expansion. And you gonna need some friends to do that.
  45. Or you can just create a normal character and blast through to the level 100 or more.
  46. A similar idea was implemented in Diablo II where you could create a Vanilla-type character which was unable to use any features of LoD but could be converted to it.
  47.
  48. Just imagine what an interesting collective work could be done by a guild playing through all the expansions and really struggling to advance between them. It becomes a long journey. Journey with people who became your friends during it.
  49. Although it might get more boring with each step as it becomes more and more easy to access the endgame with each period.
  50.
  51. 4. Class combos!
  52. Well, we've got into Legion. Considering that we've started "way back" as a Vanilla guild, we can safely assume, that characters in a party are actually close friends. The battle hardened comrades that have the exclusive ability to cast combined spells. In WoW, we can have several characters chanelling one same spell.
  53.
  54. The idea is:
  55. Let's enrich the character classes with skill which are quite effective and cool, but can only be used with help of a comrade of other class.
  56.
  57. Like:
  58. Rogue + Warrior: Warrior hurls the Rogue through the crowd causing much damage.
  59. Priest + Mage: summon Holy Light Elemental. Almost as strong as Water Elemental, but has cool abilities.
