- 9 defense beats Solvaring slightly faster, but 11 defense makes the defense values safer later in the run. You really want 15 defense by Zelse and 20 defense by Nepty so you can take two hits. Both are quite viable. You will die like half the time at Solvaring.

- My entire shorthand route, I can't guarantee 100% accuracy. What I did in my 2:31 run is most accurate, and the information for the reasons should be laid out below pretty well.
- SOLVARING:
- 15 Water is 18-22 damage, 60%+ 10 hits, 40% 11 hits. (Percentiles)
- 8 Defense: 57 HP + 7 hits, He deals 16-20 damage, Can probably take 3 hits.
- 9 Defense: 59 HP + 5 hits, He deals 15-18 damage, Can always take 3 hits.
- 10 Defense: 61 HP + 3 hits, He deals 14-17 damage, Can less than average take 4 hits.
- 11 Defense: 63 HP - 1 hit, He deals 13-16 damage, Can almost always take 4 hits.
