- I mean, if you could respond to me right now, what would you say? Other than staring in befuddled confusion, which is probably the right response.
- “Maybe I’m just seeking both internal and external validation for something I know doesn’t have an easy answer or even a real world-analogue. Since my life is now apparently some sort of fantasy-land. But even still. I’m happy. More so than I can remember being since we were kids. I want to believe that’s a good thing, and hold onto it.”
- Twilight took her glasses off, then balled one hand up into fist and pressed it against her forehead. “I miss you, Sunset. I wish you were still with us today. And I hope you can be happy for me, even if you’re not here.”
- There was no uplifting swell of music, no strong gust of wind signifying a response. Just the smell of freshly cut grass, the chirping of the birds, and the heat of the sun from up above.
- “Alright,” Twilight said with a sniff, standing up and wiping at her eyes once more. “I think I’m good, thanks for —”
- Sunset stood with her fists clenched, pale and trembling, her eyes locked onto the gravestone one plot over.
