NASA thoughts

So I was handed a piece of paper and a pen at NASA and was told to write my thoughts about the event on said paper. I wrote something like "Needs more space ships." then didn't even end up giving it to them. On a more serious note here are my thoughts about it...

The much more casual laid back atmosphere they were trying to create was good, except for a couple things. Alcohol and people who have recently consumed obviously large amounts of it should not be allowed in and around the stream room. They can end up being a danger to themselves, others, and the equipment. Also, if something like this was to become the norm it would only drive people away.

Apparently there was an issue with the hotel's wired internet when the stream was supposed to start. I was informed that the hotel was not visited in advance and therefore the internet was not tested. The wired connection that was supposed to be used had not been touched in something ridiculous like 6 years. Having someone nearby to check hotels before booking them should be done in the future.

I didn't pay much attention to it but I was told the chat was cancerous. This could be easily fixed by having mods that would actually do stuff and not shit up the chat to an extreme extent.

Setup times took unessecarily long sometimes. On a couple occasions I was able to go over to the stream PC and help out with a few things that were not known by those operating it. Finding people who have a good amount of experience with the program(s) being used to stream would be beneficial. Imo it would also be good to have two stations to set games up. Two stream PCs, two of each console, etc etc so that while one game is being run, the next can be set up. It's a lot to ask for but it can definitely be done with enough planning in advance. It's something that GDQs should probably have been doing for the past year and a half but aren't for w/e reason.

The only other thing I can think of that should be organized in a better manner is payment for registration. There were no name tags or anything to my knowledge to make sure people had paid/registered or whatever. People could also avoid needing to pay registration by bringing in equipment worth the equivalent of the registration fee to make having two setups a more likely possibility.

Nice hotel aside from the internet and the breakfast. The qualityof the food was meh but could have been worse I guess

Good area with lots of restaurants, ATMs, banks. There was a movie theater near by. Very good location choice. Actually, being closer to the airport would have been cool but having the location be perfect is near impossible. Have to make some sacrifice.

Cool people running the event despite the obvious lack of planning for some situations.
