  1. Finding salvation from beyond the grave
  2.
  3. No reconciliation after death? Jesus preached to the dead!
  4. For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
  5. 1 Peter 4:6
  6.
  7. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.
  8. 1 Peter 3: 18 - 20
  9.
  10. But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says:
  11. “When he ascended on high,
  12. he took many captives
  13. and gave gifts to his people.”
  14. (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)
  15. Ephesians 4:7-10
  16.
  17. When you ascended on high,
  18. you took many captives;
  19. you received gifts from people,
  20. even from the rebellious—
  21. that you, Lord God, might dwell there.
  22. Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour,
  23. who daily bears our burdens.
  24. Our God is a God who saves;
  25. from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.
  26. Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies,
  27. the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins.
  28. The Lord says, “I will bring them from Bashan;
  29. I will bring them from the depths of the sea,
  30. Psalm 68:18 - 22
