  1. honestly, the way today has felt, the closest thing i've felt to it was the time i literally thought i was going to die in a few days from a condition my doctor thought i had, with a 30% mortality rate. i don't want to unduly make light of the situation, but i'm getting my whimsy where i can: that day, i rewatched anime finales and cried a whole lot. today i've binge watched something else on netflix, and cried a whole lot.

  3. The American people voted...and we got a bigot, a racist, a sexist, a homophobe, a bully, a crybaby, and worst of all, an unpredictable person as president. For years, the Republicans have been feasting on the votes of uneducated voters, using underlying fears and blowing them out of proportion. Last night, they won with a platform that did not have any substance, except that we should fear. We should fear the Muslims, any one of which wants to bomb your family. We should fear the Mexicans (thats what everyone to our south is called, right?, because they are coming into our country and eating our food, taking our jobs, raping our women, and worst of all not paying taxes for it. We should fear the Media. We should fear facts.

  5. Ignorance, fear, anger, hate... Why does history always repeat itself, always.
  6. 1922, 1933, 1949, 2000, and now, 2016.

  8. I am genuinely glad that, in the course of just a few hours, my friends and loved ones are already transitioning from despair to anger to hope. I applaud the courage it takes to do that.
  9. I do not so easily forgive, nor do I so easily forget.
  10. It would be one thing if we could just blame this on uneducated whites. I've been surrounded and harassed by these inbred imbeciles all my life. It's an entirely different thing to blame college-educated whites, even people I graduated alongside at UVA.
  11. I keep hearing pundits say that Trump rallied this silent majority who is tired of being oppressed, but these people have never been silent and they know nothing of oppression. They have never known the horror of being a second-class citizen. Their voices have always been loud and right now they are deafening.
  12.
  13. Never thought that the nation would come to be run by such an intolerant, unprofessional, narcissistic leader. I cannot and will not respect the fact that he's president when he does not stand for the whole of the people. He may have won the majority of electoral votes, but I can't bring myself to believe he reflects the majority of American minds with so many different cultures and back grounds here. Bring on the next 4 years but you won't find me supporting someone who brings racism and hatred back into this country that we've worked so hard to move past.
  14.
  15. I did not know there were so many racists in this country.
  16.
  17. Thank you to 50% of America for destroying our country's future.

  19. My heart breaks today because the election results just prove that no matter how smart, well-prepared, and organized you are---no matter if you crushed the 3 debates, no matter if you so delicately walk the thin line of "acceptable" for a woman--and no matter if your opponent brags about sexually assaulting women, calls them pigs, calls Mexicans rapists, completely makes up "facts," denies climate change, has no policy other than "tremendous" and "great," completely does not understand foreign policy or basic economics, incites "birther" nonsense, advocates violating international law, ....ugh. I can go on and on. None of that matters. You're only kidding yourself if you think sexism has nothing to do with this. It's not the only thing, Hillary has her flaws. And there is a deep anti-intellectualism, anti-establishment sentiment in the US. But if any white man had those flaws, it wouldn't have mattered. Hillary somehow gets labeled a corrupt liar no matter how many waste-of-taxpayers-money investigations say she's innocent, and yet actual proof exists of Trump lying on a daily basis, gaming the system, using his "foundation" for personal benefit, and having shady deals. You KNOW that if Hillary had said she was against the Iraq war during the debates when there's audio proof otherwise (just like Trump) she would have been destroyed. You KNOW that if the Clinton Foundation had been paying off legal disputes with money Hillary claims she donates to constantly when she doesn't (like Trump) it would have been all over the news. You KNOW that if there had been more investigations into Trump's businesses practices that had turned up nothing than investigations into 9/11, there would be outrage. And if Hillary had been caught on tape that she likes grabbing men without their consent? Come on. Don't tell me this sexist double standard doesn't exist when we live it every day.

  21. Speechless and shocked is all I can say....
  22. Which is probably not a good state to be in when everyone around you is now asking the question "what happened? How could he win? Why is the American system this way?"
  23. Faith in humanity: temporarily lost for the time being.
  24.
  25. Anybody want to crush a bottle of rye whiskey and sob about the future of the country? All are welcome.
  26.
  27. Can anyone explain why the breakdown of the voters goes this way: white college voters, white no degree voters, black voters, Hispanic voters. Why do the minorities not get a college/no college breakdown. #verycurious
  28.
  29. The only changes that are going to come in this country are from like-minded progressive individuals working together. I have zero emotional energy left for the gloating of closeted (or open) racists, sexists, and xenophobes. May we be able to heal this broken country.
  30.
  31. Anyone who voted Trump who I haven't already deleted or who thinks these election results are a game can go ahead and delete me. We are not friends.
  32. I cannot keep accommodating racists, sexists, bigots. I am not going to cater to your feelings to get your approval or vote or to make you feel good. Don't say that not all Trump supporters are these things because if you support someone who says these things and ADVOCATES these things, YOU ARE A RACIST/SEXIST/BIGOT. YOU are saying how Trump treats women, African Americans, LGBTQ individuals, Muslim Americans, Mexican AMERICANS, those with disabilities, Asian Americans-- is okay. You are saying that his supporters who HARASS my friends telling them to go back to China is okay. It is not "political correctness" IT IS NOT. FUCKING. OKAY!
  33.
  34. So, now that America looks set to elect it's first rapist and pedophile president, I'm trying to narrow my list of countries to move to. Canada's leading (you know, good universal healthcare, friendly to LGBT folks and women, nearby to the moral pit of my homeland, and the Yukon is a lot like Alaska) but Chile, Argentina, Colombia, and Costa Rica are options. Not looking to move to Europe because of the rise of the Soviet Union v.2 and the fact that their politics are even more dangerous than ours at the moment.
  35.
  36. There is no disembodied force to blame. We are all the problem. The fuckers who didn't go out and ask enough people for their vote. The assholes who voted third party for their own irrelevant moral purity. The hateful old bastards who believe reality isn't true. The shitbags who didn't vote because they had something more important to do today than protect the wellbeing of fellow humans. All the people on both sides who mocked and yelled instead of thinking and persuading. We've lit the fire in our own house and I don't really know what we're gonna do about it now. This is my fault, and it's your fault, and now I hope we can protect the peace with all of our might.
  37.
  38. Nothing changes. We continue to stand up for the America we believe in.
  39.
  40. I hope our LGBTQ+ youth know that they're not alone (Share The Trevor Project). We need to be the light since our "American" leadership most certainly won't be.
  41.
  42. I'm sorry for all our educators who have to look children in the eye and make sense of this today.
  43.
  44. It's time. This is really happening. If we're going to flush our beautiful, flawed republican democracy down the toilet I just wish we'd had the choice to do so with a real villain and not a narcissistic muppet.
  45.
  46. Last year around this time, my uncle (grandma's brother) was dying of cancer, and this year, I'm in mourning for a completely different reason. All I can do is pray and continue to do what I can to fight against racism, misogyny, xenophobia, heterosexism, etc. 😢😭😰
  47.
  48. Quick shout out to thank all the Nasty Women in my life that made me into the man I am. Looking at you, Mama G.
  49.
  50. The stock futures have been shut down in anticipation of a crash. I can only hope the wealthy "economic conservatives" who converted to Trumpism feel a tiny bit of the pain they have perpetuated in this memoradum on hate.
  51.
  52. wait...I thought that this is what the electoral college is for #saynotoWWIII #lovetrumpshate #makeamericagreatagain
  53.
  54. Brian Williams just loudly sighed.
