  1. Sigh. This might hurt your sensitivities, so buckle up.
  2.
  3. With the IQ you claim to have, you are surely aware that you have an above average score. What do you expect to hear as with so many other questions of similar nature? If you didn’t, I’m going to tell you what it means, a huge secret of the universe that no one knows.
  4.
  5. Let me give it to you straight then and take this with a grain of salt.
  6.
  7. “Yes. You are special. You are smart. GIFTED. You will achieve great things!”
  8.
  9. Then you feel special, distinguished from the rest for the rest of high school.
  10.
  11. Things go wrong with your friends. You fight. It’s okay. She’s wrong. I have IQ so she can’t understand what I’m thinking and that I’m right.
  12.
  13. Other people criticize you for something, for being aloof and socially inept. It’s okay. I’m different. They are the ones who don’t understand me. I’m special.
  14.
  15. Then you get a D in a subject. This shouldn’t happen to me. I have high IQ, right? Everything should come easy for me. Then you pull yourself back up and get A’s, further believing that you can easily achieve what you think you could because of your IQ. I’m special. I’m smart. I’ll achieve great things!
  16.
  17. Then you get accepted into college. Everyone around you is excellent. They are overachievers. They are good at what they do. They are truly distinguished. There are millions of them. You thought it was just you. You only have the knowledge of your IQ to feel special, now that’s disappeared.
  18.
  19. So you fall into a spiral of self-doubt. Everyone is perfect. You start to realize, I’m actually nothing. You start to indulge yourself with alcohol, with drugs, anything that could keep you away from the reality that you will never be as good as you believed.
  20.
  21. You contemplate suicide.
  22.
  23. ———
  24. Do not go into that cycle.
  25.
  26. Yes, it’s a good score. So what?
  27.
  28. Don’t let that get to your head. Don’t concentrate on IQ.
  29.
  30. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re good and praise you with entitled achievements, just from your IQ.
  31.
  32. In the world we live in today, you will need something that would keep you unfazed of your own insignificance in the realization that IQ never mattered.
