  1. >Diamond Tiara had just invited Silver Spoon to one of her super-exclusive swimming pool parties.
  2. >SS: "Yah, we showed those blank flanks didn't we?"
  3. >DT: "Of course I did. It's not even surprising. There isn't even a chance that they could outsmart me, the most clever pony in all of Ponyville!"
  4. >SS: "Uhh, you mean 'we' right, hehe?"
  5. >DT: "Oh yah, fine, sure, whatever."
  6. >Silver Spoon decides to sprawl out on of one of the chaise lounges, while Diamond Tiara floats on her back in the center of the pool
  7.
  8. >And that's when George Wilson runs up and shoots her in the stomach!
  9. >No just kidding, this isn't The Great Gatsby
  10. >Back to the story
  11.
  12. >DT: "Are you coming in or what? You just gonna lie there all day?"
  13. >SS: "Well, I mean, I don't know, I just don't really like swimming..."
  14. >DT: "Ugh, you always do this. Whatever fine."
  15. >SS: "Thank you." she says, with a little venom on the words.
  16. >Diamond Tiara wasn't so ready to give in just yet, being the clever pony that she thought she was, she devised a plan.
  17. >While Silver Spoon was sleeping, Diamond Tiara got out of the pool slowly, so that she was silent.
  18. >The stealthy little filly snuck up behind the chaise lounge of Silver Spoon, which was directly facing the pool.
  19. >DT: "Hey Silver, you look like your getting a little burned." she said with a giggle
  20. >Silver Spoon rises from her slumber
  21. >SS: "Huh?"
  22. >DT: "You look like you need to cool off!"
  23. >She then uses all of her strength to push the chaise lounge, with her friend on it, into the pool
  24. >They both eventually fall in, with the chase lounge
  25. >They both poke their from the water,
  26. >Diamond Tiara starts splashing her now soaked friend
  27. >DT: "Haha! See, that wasn't so bad was it? Whaddaya wanna play?"
  28. >SS: "Oh no, no NO! Sorry Diamond Tiara, I gotta go! NOW!"
  29. >Diamond Tiara gets flustered as her friend gets out of the pool and puts her towel on
  30. >She gets out of the pool as well and chases after Silver Spoon, who now starts galloping as fast as she could from her
  31.
  32. >The towel, proving to bulky for Silver Spoon, slowed her down allowing for Diamond Tiara to catch up and
  33. >Tackle her to the ground
  34. >Her towel falls off as she is eventually pinned to the ground.
  35. >DT: "What is this all about? Why are oyu acting like this? ITS JUST WATER!"
  36. >Silver Spoon is now on her back, pinned down by by her hooves
  37. >SS: "Get off, please! I just... i gotta go!"
  38. >Diamond Tiara decides not to get off, she continues to interrogate
  39. >DT: "Why are you acting like this?!"
  40. >Silver Spoon deosn't answer, instead, she decides to try to wiggle her way out of her grasps
  41. >She starts to succeed, but falls onto her left side
  42.
  43. >Diamond Tiara is speechless at the sight of Silver Spoon
  44. >It was the pony she had been friends with for the last couple years, yet something was different
  45. >Besides the fact that she was wet, something was wrong with her cutie mark
  46. >Diamond Tiara, confused, moves one of her hooves to Silver Spoon's morphed cutie mark
  47. >Upon contact, the image of the spoon smears away, with a residue left on her hoof
  48. >It was paint
  49.
  50. >Silver Spoon never got her cutie mark
  51.
  52. >DT: "Wha..."
  53. >Silver Spoon, no longer struggling, rises up
  54. >SS: "No, no. Its, not what it umm its not what it looks like..."
  55. >They remain speechless for a couple seconds, although it felt like an eternity
  56. >DT: "Why didn't you tell me that..."
  57. >SS: "No, Its..."
  58. >DT: "Why didn't you tell me that you were.."
  59. >Diamond Tiara scrunches her face for the biggest smile of all time
  60. >DT: "...a BLANK FLANK!"
  61. >Silver Spoon, now in tears, tries to run away from her mean friend
  62. >Diamond Tiara chases after, laughing the entire way
  63. >DT: "BLANK FLANK BLANK FLANK!"
  64. >Silver Spoon hops over the bushed surrounding the pool, but lands in a pile of mud
  65. >Dirty, hurt, and emotionally destroyed, Silver spoon tries to run away from the worst day of her life
  66. >Diamond Tiara stays by the pool, keeping her insults going until she was out of sight
  67.
  68. >Diamond Tiara walks to school the next day
  69. >Once again, she is by herself
  70. >She usually just meets up with SS when they get to school
  71. >She didn't want anyone walking with her anyway
  72. >Her time alone gave her time to think about how amazing she is
  73. >DT: "Oh man, there truly is nopony better than me. I mean, did you see the way I busted that blank flank the other day?"
  74. >She arrives at school, just in time.
  75. >She sits down at her desk, which is now all the way in the front corner of the room, because Cheerilee had to separate her and Silver Spoon, who liked to chat during her lessons
  76. >Diamond Tiara decides to zone out for the rest of the math period.
  77. >Time flies by as Diamond Tiara thinks about the concert that she and Silver Spoon are going to attend
  78.
  79. >C: "Alright fillies! Play time!
  80. >Scream of excitement are emitted from the ponies as they run out the door, some stumbling and tripping over each other
  81. >Diamond Tiara waits back, to hang out with Silver Spoon, the usual routine she would do
  82. >DT: "So, Silver, I was thinking today we could go over to the-
  83. >Diamond Tiara turns her head, but doesn't find Silver Spoon in the usual spot she sits in
  84. >She always waited for Diamond Tiara in that seat, so they could talk when the class went on break.
  85. >DT: "Where did...?
  86. >Diamond Tiara walks outside, not sure where to find Diamond Tiara
  87. >She decided to lurk around the yard checking all of the areas
  88. >Nope, she wasn't by the swings
  89. >She wasn't by the building blocks
  90. >Where in the world was this filly?
  91.
  92. >DT: "No."
  93. >Diamond Tiara refused to believe it
  94. >DT: "No, this can't be."
  95. >She looked over to the Cutie Mark Crusaders, sitting by the lunch table
  96. >Except a certain white/silver pony was sitting with them
  97. >Silver Spoon
  98. >Diamond Tiara had emotions she never knew existed, as she watched Apple Bloom say something to Sliver Spoon, eliciting a giggle from the 4 mark-less ponies
  99.
  100. >Diamond Tiara, too shocked to believe the sights before her, started to approach the 4 ponies without a plan on what she was to say to them
  101. >A distance of 20 yards seemed like a mile as walking to her friend felt like it was taking hours
  102. >Diamond Tiara finally reaches the table
  103. >The four ponies, joking about some story about Pinkie Pie, didn't even notice the pony that walked up to them
  104. >Diamond Tiara decided to get their attention by noisily clearing her throat
  105. >The four ponies turn to her, confused that she would even try to approach them
  106. >AB: "Uh... hi, Diamond Tiara?"
  107. >SB: "Yah..."
  108. >S: "What are you doing here"
  109. >AB&SB: "Scootaloo?!"
  110. >S: "What?
  111. >After the small bicker, they turn back to the pony who was still staring at them with wide eyes
  112. >She finally gains her composure, ready to ask a question
  113. >DT: "uhh Silver Spoon? Don't you want to hang out or something? What are you doing her with these blank flanks?"
  114. >Silver Spoon sighs as her eyes grow cold to her old friends
  115. >SS: "These 'blank flanks' are my friends, now."
  116. >DT: "WHAT?"
  117. >SS: "They except me for who I truly am."
  118. >DT: "For how long has this been going on?"
  119. >SS: "Since yesterday"
  120. >CMC: "Yep! Meet the newest Cutie Mark Crusader, Silver Spoon"
  121. >Besides the corny line, Silver Spoon appeared to be pretty proud
  122. >DT: "Yesterday?"
  123.
  124. >Silver Spoon and the rest of the CMC tell her the story about how Silver Spoon was running through the streets dirty and bruised
  125. >Apparently, the CMC stopped to help her, invited them to the Sweet Apple Acres, got her cleaned up
  126. >She asked the CMC why they would go out of their way to help a pony that used to be so mean to them
  127. >They answered her, saying that even though they had their differences, they wanted nothing more than to help a pony in need
  128. >Eventually, Silver Spoon realized that these "blank flanks" were nicer to her than Diamond Tiara ever was
  129. >After determining that she wanted to be their friend, she asked if she could join the Cutie Mark Crusaders
  130.
  131. >SS: "These are my new friends now, see?"
  132. >Silver Spoon proudly displays her own mark-less flank to Diamond Tiara
  133. >DT: "You didn't really think I meant all those blank flanks things I said to you yesterday, right?"
  134. >Diamond Tiara looked desperate for her agreement
  135. >DT: "Cuz' I mean, yah you HAVE a blank flank, but that doesn't make YOU a blank flank, you know?"
  136. >SS: "That has nothing to do with it Di."
  137. >DT: "What do you mean? Then why else would you still stay away from me?"
  138. >SS: "Because, getting to really meet these ponies right here, showed me what friendship should really be like. Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo... They've all made me feel welcome, and they did it in one day. To a pony that previously hated them!"
  139. >DT: "Cmon Silver Spoon, we're friends!"
  140. >SS: "And that's my point. I was friends with you because I had no idea what TRUE friends could be like, after meeting these 3, I realized that real friendship like this is a beautiful thing. And that's something that you never showed me."
  141. DT: "I'm sorry, I take back all the blank flank jokes!"
  142. >SS: "That's not why I'm their friends! I'm their friend because they genuinely care for me!"
  143. >AB: "Yah, we wahnt to see 'er happy!"
  144. >SB: "So we can all have fun together!"
  145. >S: "Because that's what freinds do!"
  146. >SS: "And that's why I'm their friends not yours. You never really seemed to cared for me. Did you care for me at all? Didn't seem like you really did."
  147.
  148. >Silver Spoon was Diamond Tiara's best friend. Even though at times Diamond Tiara could prove to be really mean to her, she cared so much for Silver Spoon
  149. >She loved Silver Spoon
  150. >Silver Spoon was everything to her, her only friend, the only one she could talk to
  151. >Diamond Tiara was faced with a dilemna, one that her riches could not save her from
  152. >Either she could admit that she was wrong, and that she cared for Silver Spoon a lot
  153. >Or she could uphold the appearance that she was too good for a blank flank
  154.
  155. >For the sake of her friend, and their happiness together, she knew she had to come clean and admit that she cared for her and was wrong to treat her so poorly
  156. >But her personal traditions were at stake
  157. >She knew she wanted to save Silver Spoon...
  158.
  159. >DT: "I never really cared for you! You were just another pony at school in my eyes!"
  160. >Diamond Tiara didn't understand why she did that
  161. >SS: "I guess I have my answer."
  162. >The cutie mark crusader walk away, with Diamond Tiara still there
  163. >Her interior conflict was gnawing away at her very loins
  164. >This was her last shot to win her friend back, and the only person who ever cared for her back
  165. >DT: "Yah that's right. Walk away! BLANK FLANK BLANK FLANK!"
  166. >Diamond Tiara had a face full of victory
  167. >and a mind full of agony
  168.
  169. >There she went. Her best friend, with the rivals
  170. >Who was she without Diamond Tiara
  171. >Money could fix many problems, but this was a special problem of friendship
  172. >After just standing there, contemplating in her mind for 20 minutes, she was disrupted by Cheerilee's call
  173. >C: "Alright everypony, back inside. Time for Math."
  174. >All the ponies entered, including Diamond Tiara, her ex-friend, and the CMC
  175. >Diamond Tiara was unable to focus the rest of the day
  176. >She couldn't shake the fact that she had just lost her closest friend
  177. >Well her only friend
  178. >It was a cruel reminder that, as popular as she was, she still was a very anti-social pony due to her personality
  179. >School ended in what felt like centuries, and she walked out of school alone, wondering what to do
  180. >She decided to go to her father, he must've had some sort of advice, as he had pictures of his college years on his office wall, which boasted many friends
  181. >Time to visit her dad, Filthy Rich
  182.
  183. >Diamond Tiara runs home as fast as she physically could
  184. >Panting, she decided to rest for a minute to catch her breath
  185. >She composes herslef, and then heads for her father's door
  186. >She hears him yelling from inside the office
  187. >He's always yelling, always over some trivial business plan with some other rich ponies in Canterlot
  188. >He's so stuck up in his business that he never spends time with her
  189. >Diamond Tiara was never really ever able to communicate with her busy dad, ever since her mother died
  190. >Essentially, a father like Filthy Rich was equivalent to not having a father at all
  191. >But she had to try
  192.
  193. >She opens the door, ready to ask for his father's advice
  194. >Filthy Rich is yelling furiously through the phone
  195. >FR: "...Did you say about me you little faggot? I'll have you know I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am highly trained in gorilla wa-"
  196. >DT: "dad?"
  197. >FR: "-Top sniper in Equestrian Forces-"
  198. >DT: "Dad?"
  199. >FR: "You're fucking dead kiddo!
  200. >DT: "DAD!"
  201. >FR: "Gimme a sec, my kid wants to talk about me
  202. >Filthy sighs as he looks angry to annoyed to see his daughter
  203. >FR: "Now WHAT could you possibly want Diamond Tiara?"
  204. >Diamond Tiara was shocked to see that her father would even acknowledge her presence, something that hasn't happened in years
  205. >DT: "I need to talk to you, get your advice on something"
  206. >FR: "That's can wait sweetie... Daddy is on a very important phone call right now."
  207. >Filthy eyes her in disapproval, as he picks the phone back up
  208. >FR: "Yah I'm back..."
  209. >DT: "But dad, I really nee-"
  210. >FR: "I can kill you in over 700 different ways. And that's just with my bare hooves."
  211. >Diamond Tiara is virtually silenced by her father's belligerent yelling
  212. >It's apparent that he's been drinking tonight, not drunk yet however
  213. >He's quite the alcoholic, and not only could Diamond Tiara smell it on his breath, but she could tell once again by the 110-proof sitting beside the folder on his desk
  214. >But she had to figure out a way to get his attention
  215.
  216. >Slinking around to the side of her father's desk, she locates the phone cable.
  217. >She knew it was only the way to get her dad's attention
  218. >In a couple quick moves, Diamond Tiara grabs the alcohol from his desk and smashes the bottle over the hard corner
  219. >She then picks up a shard on the ground and slices the phone cable
  220. >She cuts herself in the process, but doesn't feel pain
  221. >Adrenaline pumping through her veins proves that it could protect her from the stinging pain of the gash
  222. >It couldn't protect her from her father however
  223. >FR: "What the hell are you doing you little brat! What the fuck is wrong with you!"
  224. >She knew her dad could be angry, but he's never been this angry directly at her
  225. >It kind of caught her off guard
  226. >DT: "I-i was j-just-"
  227. >FR: "What is wrong with you, you just fuck everything up don't you!?"
  228. >DT: "But, I just needed to talk to you..."
  229. >FR: "Then don't break my fucking bottle and the fucking phone, the fuck were you thinking?"
  230. >DT: "But you wouldn't pay attention to me and I-"
  231. >Her father decides to start mocking her
  232. >FR: "Oh look at me, I'm a spoiled litle brat, gimme attention, gimme attention!" "So fucking needy, no wonder your mother didn't want you
  233. >That was uncalled for, no matter how bad of a kid she was, her mother always loved her
  234. >DT: "Don't say that, dad..."
  235. >FR: "No but she fucking hated you, you wouldn't stop bothering us. If it weren't for you, she would still fucking be alive, you know!"
  236. >Diamond Tiara's gash was now starting to hurt her really badly, her right hoof starting to look like it had its own red coat
  237. >She didn't ask for any of this
  238. >DT: "Dad... please stop"
  239. >FR: "Aww, I'm so sad, I'm Diamond Tiara... I have so many problems."
  240. >DT: "Dad, I'm sorry, just please stop, my leg hurts"
  241. >Filthy Rich responds to the severity of her injury by slugging her where the gash was
  242. >Diamond Tiara falls to the floor in pure pain, crying as she was writhing on the floor
  243.
  244. >Diamond Tiara, now hurting emotionally as well as physically, just wanted to get out of the office
  245. >Her abusive father was scaring her to death, if his physical attack wasn't already helping that
  246. >FR: "Oh what's wrooong? Did I hurt your little-wittle aaarm? Grow the fuck up, kid!"
  247. >DT: "Dad, stop! Please!"
  248. >He responds by putting his hoof on her wound, only making the pain more agonizing
  249. >DT: "Dad! I'm sorry!"
  250. >Diamond Tiara is sobbing as her father continues his montage of verbal insults
  251. >FR: "Now get the fuck out of my office. I HATE YOU!"
  252. >He drags her across the room by her bloodied hoof, before opening the door
  253. >He gived her one last jerk, and sends her flying out of his office, leaving trails of blood on the carpet.
  254. >FR: "And STAY out!"
  255. >Diamond Tiara just lays there
  256. >Sobbing
  257. >In pain
  258. >Alone
  259. >This is what loneliness feels like
  260. >This is what pain feels like
  261. >Her though process is robotic
  262. >She has to clean the wound, then just go to bed
  263. >She gets herself up, at the expense of a lot of agony to her hoof
  264. >She doesn't bother asking for the assistance of any of her butlers as she slowly drags herself past them
  265. >She gets to the sink in her room after some time
  266. >She watches it off
  267. >DT: "Ouch..."
  268. >Clean, now she just puts some bandaids on, she doesn't know how to properly clean out a wound, besides doing that
  269. >Emotionally shattered and physically incapable, she decided to call it an early night
  270.
  271. >She crawls her way under her covers
  272. >Thinking about all the shit she went throught
  273. >She thinks to herself 'will this happen again?'
  274. >She has to get her friend back
  275. >Her friend...
  276.
  277. >Damn, her hoof hurts
  278. >No friend, nopony to talk to
  279. >Her dad is too angry to even reason with, pretty much hates her at this point
  280. >Who was there to talk to?
  281. >She cries herself to sleep
  282.
  283. >She waked up the next morning, its raining outside
  284. >She looks down to see the bloody bandage on her hoof, yet it doesn't startle her
  285. >She's too emotionally drained to be able to react
  286. >There was really one last person to talk to
  287. >Princess Twilight Sparkle
  288. >She knew that Twilight at one point barely was barely friends with any other pony, and that maybe she knew something about getting a friend back after one loses them
  289. >Its pouring pretty heavily outside, but she needs to talk to Twilight
  290. >She feels like she is becoming less of what she used to feel like, like she was slipping into depression
  291. >Not caring to take an umbrella, Diamond Tiara walks a half mile over to Golden Oaks Library
  292. >Her bandages fall off of her as she walks through the rain
  293. >She gets soaked on her journey
  294. >But she finally gets there, and knocks on the door
  295. >?: "Coming..."
  296. >The voice was childish from behind the door
  297. >A little purple and green dragon opens the door
  298. >DT: "Hi, I'm looking for Twilight."
  299. >S: "Alrighty then. TWILIGHT! Someone's here to see you!"
  300. >Diamond Tiara waits patiently at the door, soaked, as Twilight descends the stairs
  301. >TS: "Oh no! Come inside, let me get you a towel."
  302. >Diamond Tiara enters the house as Spike gets a Towel from somewhere in the home
  303. >DT: "Thanks"
  304. >TS: "Now, what can i help you with?"
  305. >Twilight, unlike her father, genuinely would like to know what was on her mind
  306. >DT: "Well... I-i just..."
  307. >She starts sobbing thinking about the events that happened to her
  308. >TS: "No, no I'm so sorry, please don't cry was it something I said?"
  309. >She puts a hoof to her mane to calm her down, which ends up working after a couple seconds
  310. >Diamond Tiara regains her composure and says with a sad tone...
  311. DT: "I... well, I just have nothing left"
  312. >She knows she has nothing left to lose when it comes to her feelings, so she decides to just come clean to the Princess. It's not like she had anything to prove at that point
  313.
  314. >So she comes clean
  315.
  316. >She tells Twilight about the incident at the pool
  317. >She tells Twilight about her actions in the schoolyard
  318. >She tells Twilight about what her Dad did, but drowns it down so that Twilight doesn't have him arrested
  319. >Although it only happened in a day, it summed up the reality of her future as the mare she was
  320. >She tells Twilight about how lonely she is now
  321. >She tells Twilight that, even as the richest filly in Ponyville, she had nothing
  322.
  323. >TS: "Ahh, I see..."
  324. >The tales of the pains from this young filly brought a tear to her eye
  325. >She wipes it away and gets to her advice
  326. >TS: "Sounds like you just need to tell Silver Spoon how you really feel."
  327. >DT: "But I've tried that! And instead of doing it, i couldn't help but just continue to make fun of her
  328. >TS: "I understand its hard my little pony"
  329. >DT: "I just want to tell her how sad I feel. And how bad I want her back as my friend, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm just..."
  330. >TS: "Too proud. I know. I understand."
  331. >Diamond Tiara starts tearing up again
  332. >TS: "You know I used to be the kind of mare who pushed other ponies away"
  333. >It doesn't make Diamond feel any better
  334. >TS: "I guess if there's one piece of advice I could tell you, is that friendship is a valuable thing. And it often comes at the price of a little of yourself. But there's no doubt its something that's worth losing that piece over."
  335. >She listens to her intently
  336. >TS: "Because friendship is a beautiful thing that you should always want to have. You know? Because, what is a pony without friendship. What's the point without friends?"
  337. >Diamond Tiara understand everything she said
  338. >DT: "Thanks Twilight, that helped a lot"
  339. >Twilight grins
  340. >TS: "Don't mention it"
  341. >Diamond Tiara leaves the library thinking about what was said to her
  342. >She knew she could never win back Silver Spoon with how she was
  343. >So she couldn't stop focusing on one phrase Twilight said
  344.
  345. >What's the point?
  346. Simple. There was no point.
  347.
  348. >She determined that without a friend, a way to get that friend back, or any real family...
  349. >There was no point
  350. >She walks home, the phrase burned into her mind
  351. >There is no point
  352.
  353.
  354. >You are a pony working at a home-improvement store
  355. >Business is pretty slow, so you're almost excited that someone came alone
  356. >You look across the counter
