As he grew up, Akira was always a highly intelligent child. Others his age would look up to him for this, but it began to skew his views. He began to believe a person's worth was based on their intelligence, and therefore began beating down his emotions in order to grow more intelligent. He became an introvert, and his old friends began avoiding him entirely.
