- <•buzzie71> SwitchViewz, I think there's more cooperation between players and Sadmins if that's what c45y was trying to get at in the thread?
- <•buzzie71> in terms of events
- <•c45y> which thread is this?
- <•buzzie71> player-ran events
- <•c45y> oh gotcha
- <•c45y> I just don't think the demand is high enough and the existing solution works
- <•c45y> if we had lots of players wanting to do things and you guys were swamped I would be all for the revised proposal
- <•c45y> if the post is about visibilty that we are accepting requests than im happy to see progress on that
- <•c45y> but thats not the feeling I got sorry SwitchViewz
- <•c45y> SwitchViewz: I don't mean tech admins, I mean event admins, to clarify my position
- <•c45y> there is a lot of focused needed in the bigger events, and I think this could be distracting for what is a minor gain
- <•SwitchViewz> I should have clarified
- <•SwitchViewz> The original proposal included large events
- <•SwitchViewz> The new proposal includes minor events, such as spleef or a pvp tournament on P. However, if the player wanted to do a large event they could, but they would have to do it all themselves. The only thing we would provide is the tools I listed
- <•c45y> yeah I understand that part
- <•SwitchViewz> The only thing staff would do is provide those tools, we would do no building/running of the event, that would all be the player
- <•c45y> I meant that the process of dealing with these smaller and probably less planned events might distract yourself and any future e admins from the larger tasks
- <•c45y> I might just shut up
- <•c45y> if you think its not going to be a problem I guess you know your schedule better than I do
- <•SwitchViewz> No no, I welcome the concerns, that's the point of the thread
- <•SwitchViewz> The goal of the new proposal was to put almost no strain on eadmins. Players would go to the server admins or an eadmin just to pass it by them, another staff member could provide those features aside from easysigns.
- <•SwitchViewz> eadmins would not do a whole lot, besides pass it on to the server admins, as it is ultimately up to them what events are ran on there servers, unless they want to do something on E
- <•SwitchViewz> (If Im making sense?)
- <•c45y> Do you think a formal approval process won't scare people off?
- <•c45y> If you have the time to make the process then maybe just do so and we can see the result
- <•c45y> I guess im stuck on why/where we would apply this
- <•c45y> why do we need another step in the existing process ( which I was unaware wasn't so common on P )
- <•SwitchViewz> There is no approval process, that was the old proposal. The players only go to the server admins and go "We'd like to host an event and we'd like it broadcasted"
- <•c45y> I would love to see server messages and stuff for 'got an event idea? msg switch to help develop it'
- <•buzzie71> it's not really "not common" as it is "nonexistent"
- <•buzzie71> on P
- <•c45y> oh, the Idea B sounded approval-y, must have misread
- <•c45y> re-reading now
- <•c45y> buzzie71: do players just do it without you? or are they just not as opinionated as S players?
- <•SwitchViewz> buzzie71: Not sure what you mean? Events are done on P by players all the time. I can think of Spleef, PvP, Nightoak, etc etc
- <•buzzie71> events? nah they usually just set them up themselves, announce on the subreddit, and run it
- <•buzzie71> what I meant was that Padmins and staff don't use their mod tools to help set up or promote player-ran events
- <•c45y> yeah, and thats great
- <•buzzie71> at least that is the current status quo
- <•c45y> I don't want to get in the way of them dong that
- <•c45y> doing even
- <•c45y> this updated proposal sounds like we wouldn't be, which is great
- <•SwitchViewz> The proposal was to expand on that, give them a few more tools, such as broadcasting
- <•buzzie71> that's what I meant by "current process not existing on P"
- <•buzzie71> ahhh
- <•c45y> SwitchViewz: is there a bit im missing about how we are planning to communicate this?
- <•c45y> I think thats the link I really would like to see hashed out
- <•SwitchViewz> As in how we announce it to the community?
- <•c45y> yeah, how do we let them know we are happy to help ( its sad we have to tell them so )
- <•SwitchViewz> [Server] Messages, add it to the subreddit (maybe sidebar?), not sure what else, I haven't thought about that much yet, mostly been trying to gather everyones thoughts
