<p>Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Victor Reyes grew up as an energetic little boy. Since his parents were young when they had him, they worked a lot during his earlier years - his dad starting up his own business while his mom worked as a waitress. That meant that his grandparents raised him and they learned to channel his high energy into music. Both of his grandparents were musicians and they taught Victor how to play the guitar and sing. It was where he grew to love music so much. Eventually as he grew older, he developed his own style of music and grew to appreciate other genres that weren't only Latin music.</p>

<p>As a child, Victor never did very well in school. He was lazy and unmotivated and with how hyperactive he was, it was hard for him to remain seated and to stay quiet. He <em>loved</em> talking and joking around. It often times led him to trouble, teachers calling his parents all the time. It eventually came to a point where his parents were surprised when a teacher <em>didn't</em> call them. His grades were never the best and when Victor's dad's business finally took off, he paid for tutors when they could afford it. His parents didn't want him to be a bad example for his younger siblings. His siblings were the only reason he went through with the tutoring sessions. Maybe if they saw him pretending to try hard at school, they wouldn't end up like him.</p>

<p>At the age of seventeen, Victor's parents divorced. He knew that they were having troubles since he'd catch them fighting when they thought none of their children were listening, but he never thought it would get that bad. The divorce affected Victor in a negative way. In his last remaining years of high school, he was just angry at both his parents for not being able to work it out for the sake of their family. It was then where Victor gave up on the idea of love. He never cared enough about the people he slept with or dated to ever play around with the idea of love. If his parents couldn't make it work, he thought he was doomed when it came to love.</p>

<p>When it came time for college, his parents urged him to go. They would tell him that he had no other option. It was either he go to college or he would be kicked out and obviously Victor didn't want to go live in the streets. He figured that he could always go to college to study music - it was the only thing he was passionate about. However, when his father forced him to major in business, it only strained the relationship between them even more. His father wanted Victor to grow up and be successful like he was and he would tell Victor that music was only a waste of time. Having no other choice but to agree since his father threatened to not pay for his schooling, he went to school in Chicago to study business no matter how much he hated it. His mother wouldn't back him up either, agreeing with his father on the subject. To them, music was going to lead him nowhere.</p>
