  1. Thesis Reasons:
  2. [01:25:45] craing ;_;: well it is but in essence its being overexaggerated imo
  3. [01:25:23] craing ;_;: police just use this as a more efficient way to categorize certain subgroups and target them
  4. i would say no, suspicion shouldn't be based on the race of the person regardless of where u r at like in a bad neighborhood
  5. well actually this is just like 3 paras for me pretty short intro body and conclusion
  6. ah ok
  7. i say that bcs since our police force is like the symbol of justice and all they have to play that part so they cant rly stoop as immoral as that, but if there was a case like that and the victim was able to prove that their unauthorized search was based off racial rsns then that would def be a prob. we had to read an article and it basically outlined alot of statistics of predominately blacks and latinos being more likely to get pulled over then say whites. and that it adds up to them in jail for that. but i thi
  8. Well, whenever addressing racial profiling you have to be very careful. One thing is, make sure to set your foot down and state the yes or no first. So you said no, and we have 2 reasons.
  9. well i can go on and address the recent happenings in yeah where theres alot of protests and crime going up bcs of
  10. ferguson?
  11. make sure to address whether or not you think racial profiling is still a big problem in the U.S., as thats what your whole opinion is going to be based off. Do you think it is?
  12. hmm ok, uh i honestly think we moved passed this as a society but i still think that the police need to find a good way to put an end to and address this issue since the citizens have lost alot of faith in how they go about policing.
  13. I know this is your opinion and all, but I would think that police should investigate based off of ANY suspicious activity and move past the race whether white, latino, african american etc.
  14. ah yeh thats a better way of phrasing it
  15. hmmm ok this is rly helpful ty
  16. oh ty to you.
  17. [01:23:41] craing ;_;: and if i was in charge of police policy would i encourage or discourage this
  18. What would you do?
  19. well im not rly well versed in law enforcement so i cant rly make solid judgements
  20. Everyone starts somewhere, the judgements never start off strong, you need to build up.
  21. well do police officers get money for pulling over ppl and giving them a ticket? o-o
  22. it's not direct. Police officers arent paid based off on how many people they fined. However, the more they DO fine the more money their law establishment gets, which indirectly goes into their paycheck. Am i making sense or nah? Also keep in mind that police officers pull over mainly because one's behavior was considered dangerous to themselves and others. it also depends on the cop.
  23. ok so can we assume that their main intention is to maintain peace and order within our society? and yeah u are
  24. I would say that's what most police officers do. however, in the harsh economic times we are currently in, a time where people move past morality, some may take every single oppurtunity to pull over. Money, the police officers character,
  25. something interesting i should note out of the article is that more than 80% of ppl pulled over in ny during a given year was either black or latino while like 18% was white. is that out of say coincidence or can we assume that racial profiling is most likely wats happening
  26. I think it is a safe assumption, BUT, how many of these pulled over minorities are actually charged. Because some get pulled over and are just probed and nothing is found. Can you find that statistic or nah?
  27. i have them all u want me to list em
  28. if you don't mind
  29. contraband
  30. -1.6% of stops of blacks
  31. -1.4% latinos
  32. 1.7% whites (note this as it is a higher percentage in a smaller amount of people pulled over)
  33. ~6% of stops result in an arrest for any rsn
  34.
  35. not everyone who is stopped is frisked. when broken down by ethnic group, the percentages do not at first seen disproportionate. 58% of hispanics were stopped and frisked, 56% of blacks were frisked and 46% whites. whites compose fewer than 16% of stoppages? of the ppl stopped in the first place tho
  36.
  37. hmm, these are ppl stopped and frisked
  38.
  39. hmm
  40. Let's start making the plan then:
  41.
  42. PARAGRAPH 1:
  43. Hook:
  44. Background:
  45. Thesis:
  46.
  47. PARAGRAPH 2:
  48. Statistics:
  49. Reasoning:
  50. Conclusion Based off Statistics:
  51. What Would craing ;_; do if he was in charge and why:
  52.
  53. PARAGRAPH 3:
  54. Firm Closing Opinion:
  55. Restate thesis in different manner:
  56. Conclusion:
  57.
  58.
  59. ok lets fill these all out, well stitch them together and well be done. Sorry am i being too pushy?
  60.
  61. o_k nah i just dont have as much time to write up an outline and id rahter write this up now and go to sleep but i have time to spare so its ok Alrighty :]
  62. Leave the hook for later, we'll waste time on it. What background are you going to mention. Maybe, mention how the number of minorities pulled over is significantly higher.
  63. In your thesis, talk about how police should investigate based off of suspicious activity and move past the race whether white, latino, african american etc. If they investigate sheerly based on race, then it is an inefficient method of crime prevention, and why. So a very basic thesis
  64. what is the difference between reasoning and conclusions based off statistics aren't they the same thing
  65. Well reasoning is analysis and should be much longer, conclusions are like bold 1-2 sentence statements. Kinda like a summary of your reasoning.
  66.
  67. ah makes sense, also what would i do if im in charged i dont rly know lol
  68. Would you encourage investigation based upon race, or just upon well supported suspicions? Should the race of one be a way to support suspicion?
  69. well supported suspicions
  70.
  71. a counterargument i saw in this article is that they said that their policy wasnt racist its "lifesaving" and they help fight off crime and the racial makeup is proportional. Well, look at those 1.4 and 1,6 percents in a HUGE amount of people, and then the 1.7 percent in such a small amount of people. Your answer lies there I think. Thats not very proportional.
  72.
  73. Going into pure math.
  74. i dont wanna do math. that's fine
  75. So you know what goes in your thesis?
  76. basic thesis for this essay: "I believe that police investigation should not be based on race, but rather well supported suspicion, and race should not be a way to support the suspicion"
  77.
  78. ye
  79. ;-; fren, Im afraid I have to go soon. Sorry i wasn't efficient in my help.
  80.

  83. mmk sure
  84. search either habajiga or Leonid Brezhnev
