>you'd grown up in Ponyville, and Sweet Apple Acres was where you got most of your work done before
>gave you some nice muscles, you aren't bulky or anything but you're still pretty fit
>and Sweet Apple Acres is great
>but you needed a change of scenery
>fortunately for you, you'd overheard Granny Smith talking to her kids about work down south on some cherry farm
>so you hopped right on that
>as a bonus, none of the Apples wanted to leave home so there wasn't even any competition for it
>feels good
>so you've been doing harvesting and sorting and the like
>lots of grunt work
>you have a little place all to yourself on the farm
>just a small... well, shack would be an accurate description, but it's not shabby in any sense of the word
>there are a few other little homes around yours where other permanent resident workers reside
>things are alright

>you're working the conveyer belt today, sorting yellow from red
>you're sure they have actual names but it's just yellow and red to you
>you gotta admit, not your favorite thing to do
>most of the time
>"Hello, everypony!"
>everypony murmers and quips back a smattering of hellos
>you don't dare look up, so you smile down at the cherries as you listen to her voice
>Cherry Jubilee, proprietor of the farm and your boss
>well, the boss of your boss, anyway
>you don't know what it is about her, but whenever she's in a room, it always seems to brighten up a bit
>probably just a stupid colthood crush
>even if you are just a bit older than a colt by now
>but how else do you explain it?
>you haven't even had extended conversations with her at all
>in fact, that longest conversation you've had with her was when you said hello to her one morning as you were walking into the cherry orchard
>naturally, you refused to make eye contact and nearly collapsed from hyperventilating
>you continue to do your job, whistling softly to yourself as Cherry walks over to talk to the foreman
>your ears flick back as you try and catch some of the conversation
>something about production and employee benefits
>you can only catch so much around the noise of the workroom
>suddenly, they stop, and you hear hoof beats approaching you
>quickly, you attempt to look busy
>"Anon!"

"Y-Yes, Foreman?"
>Foreman Silver Chain is standing right behind you
>you can almost feel him breathing down your neck
>that might have to do with the fact that he's breathing down your neck
