The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) who had a long relationship and employment agreement with Hank Williams Jr. for the opening of their Monday Night Football broadcast recently fired him. They ended their relationship due to some comments Hank Williams Jr. made when being interviewed on another network’s news program. He compared the President of the United States to Adolf Hitler and stated that his rights under the First Amendment to the Constitution for freedom of speech were violated. Do you agree? Why or why not? Was the ABC decision ethical? Note: Approach your discussion from the perspective that there was a definite clause in the ABC contract preventing employees from doing or saying anything in public that would jeopardize ABC’s reputation and/or their relationship with sponsors
