- --- How to learn new skills ---
- To learn a new skill, you need to have at least one point in the corresponding ability (eg Aerothurge for Air skills, Scoundrel for Rogue skills etc), an ability level 1 allows you to learn three skills and five skills at level 2.
- You also need to acquire a skillbook of the skill you want to learn then read it to permanently learn it. Read below where to acquire those books in the starting town.
- --- Where to buy skillbooks in Cyseal ---
- Man-at-Arms - Aureus, legion headquarters
- Marksman - Fletcher, marketplace
- Hydrosophist and Aerothurge skills - Cylia the enchantress, marketplace
- Scoundrel and Witchcraft skills - Shereth, second floor of the king's crab inn
- Pyrokinetic and Geomancer skills - Arthu, second floor of legion commander's house
- A bit of everything - Trader on his ship in the harbour
- --- How to backstab ---
- First, you need the "back-stabber" trait, you also need to have equipped a weapon that mentions backstab damage in its description, position your character exactly behind a foe and the attack icon on your cursor should change to the backtstab icon. Backstabs are always critical hits. The game is very picky about the positioning.

- --- Random tips ---
- - Looting a lit candle will keep it lit in your inventory (no it won't burn anything). You can then throw it into flammable stuff for way less AP than a fire spell or arrow.
- - Find a chest but you can't unlock it? Put it in your inventory.
- - Talk to a npc from a specific direction to move his cone of vision while you steal everything with another character.
- - Dialogue choices can give you points in all sorts of non-combat skills. Being pragmatic for example will give you crafting while greedy and egotistical choices will give barter etc.
- - If you do take leadership remember the one providing the buff won't get any benefit from it unless another party member also has leadership. The bonuses are great but mostly physical damage focused so casters are the best candidates to be leaders.
- - Nails + hammer = lockpick
- - Your combat skill level does NOT affect what spells of that tree you can use or how effective they are. It just provides more slots so you can have a greater amount memorized at one time If you forget a skill you can re-buy the book later, you art collectors should be able to afford it. Your stats affect how effective spells and abilities are. Level affects what ones you can learn.
- - Merchants restock every individual character level up.
- - Magic starts off very strong but does not scale. Melee on the other hand can stack an insane amount of damage buffs very quickly. The utility value of magic will never diminish however.
- - You can sleep in beds to heal.
- - Giving the pyramids to two different characters allows teleport between the two, also works in combat.
