    Biography: Born the third son to a large Trycordian patrician family which lost much of its wealth when the ports closed to their trading partners in Vastus, Vito stood little hope of receiving any real inheritance.  Like many young men in his similar situations in his homeland, he took exception to the idea of subsisting on what little allowance the family gave him, opting instead to take up a sword and strike out on his own once he decided he was old enough, hoping to make it as a mercenary.

               Of course, this didn't go particularly well for him, at first.  He'd overestimated just how young he appeared and how desperate many of the mercenary companies were at the time.  He ended up little better than a street rat, doing whatever he could to earn coin but too proud to admit defeat and return home.

               Eventually, this stubbornness paid off when an old Tyrcondian blade caught the boy trying to pick his pocket.  The old man took pity on the lad, offering him food and sparing him a beating.  Eventually, after weeks of begging, this old swordsman taught Vito his art and, when he truly was old enough, a place in a mercenary group proper despite some misgivings.
