  8. After my theory on Alatreon's significance to determining the nature of Dragon Element, I figure I would also put up my thoughts about Fatalis destroying the country of Schrade in a single night, and the Black Dragon's relationship with the Red Dragon.
  9.
  10. We don't know much about the finer details of Schrade's decimation, just that it happened 1000 years ago in a sudden attack by Fatalis. There's speculation about how perhaps the inhabitants of Schrade had somehow tapped into a tear in reality that allowed Fatalis to enter the MH universe, but the motivation for Fatalis to destroy a whole kingdom upon entering this realm if it is indeed from another universe isn't clear.
  11.
  12. We also know that nobody has seen Fatalis and lived to tell the tale since then, as there are no records documenting the confirmed existence of the legendary Black Dragon. Rumours and fairy tales abounded in the centuries following Schrade's demise, but it wasn't until the events of MHW:IB's 5th title update that the creature was finally encountered and defeated for the records by the Research Commission.
  13.
  14. In this period, it's speculated that the Black Dragon awoke as a reaction to the Red Dragon reaching its mature state over in the New World. Why bring this up in the same vein as the country of Schrade? What's the relation between this ancient history and this modern revelation?
  15.
  16. It's simple: I believe that Fatalis destroyed Schrade as a consequence of it reacting to a Safi'jiiva in the ancient past.
  17.

  19.
  20. Why do I think this? Let's examine Safi'jiiva's life-cycle first, as it'll help contextualize this hypothesis a bit better.
  21.
  22. It's been established that Xeno'jiiva influenced the Elder Crossing, a massive migration of Elder Dragons to the New World that used to take place every 100 years. However, the Dark Light Dragon's effect sped up this event's cycling, eventually ending up taking place every 10 years instead over the past half-century of the modern era of MH. However, it's important to note that this process wasn't instant; it took time for the Elder Crossing to ramp up from every century to every decade, becoming gradually quicker with each cycle.
  23.
  24. And bear in mind, this process took place after the Safi'jiiva that birthed that individual Xeno'jiiva did so in the Confluence of Fates specifically to speed up its growth! This gives you a good idea of exactly how long it takes for an equivalent to Black Dragons like Alatreon or Fatalis to reach adulthood, as well as the sheer scale of power and influence it must possess to rival them considering that hundreds of Elder Dragons have had their Bioenergy funneled towards Xeno'jiiva over these centuries.
  25.
  26. This process takes so long, in fact, that I believe that the Red Dragon that birthed the modern Xeno'jiiva (and its potential clutch sibling who went on to become the modern Safi'jiiva) matured into its adult state and gave birth to its clutch around 1000 years, around the same time as the Black Dragon destroying Schrade.
  27.
  28. Now all the pieces are starting to fit here.
  29.
  30. What if a Xeno'jiiva managed to reach full maturity as a Safi'jiiva, and then gave birth to a clutch of Xeno'jiiva across the New World that would become the Xeno'jiiva and Safi'jiiva encountered in the modern MHW/MHW:IB era? What if this all happened 1000 years ago, and Fatalis reacted to this ancient Red Dragon entering this stage in its life-cycle? Perhaps, for whatever reasons it had to do so, the Black Dragon went on a rampage through all of Schrade upon sensing the Red Dragon across the planet in the New World.
  31.
  32. Maybe this was the beginning of a kind of new cycle, where a Red Dragon reaching maturity and reproducing would trigger the Black Dragon to begin a calamity in an unrelated region. If it started 1000 years ago when Fatalis first entered our universe in the region of Schrade, it likely would've happened again in the modern era if the Research Commission hadn't nipped this problem in the bud.

  35.
  36. TL;DR
  37.
  38. Just like how Fatalis awoke in reaction to the modern Safi'jiiva reaching maturity and reproducing, maybe it also did so 1000 years ago with an ancient Safi'jiiva achieving maturity and reproducing, with said reaction resulting in Schrade's destruction. This ancient Safi'jiiva may have been the direct parent to the modern Xeno'jiiva and Safi'jiiva, as their growing period may have taken 1000 years to complete given how long it took for Xeno'jiiva to influence the Elder Crossing gradually.
  39.
  40. Closing thoughts: the only gap is the motivation. If we assume this is accurate, why would Fatalis go on a rampage in a totally separate region of the world in reaction to Safi'jiiva doing its business in the New World? These are questions we don't have answers for.
