  1. "The experiments with Die Glocke are going perfectly mein Führer. We expect to have mastered Time Space bending within the next few years!"
  2.
  3. " A Few years is not fast enough! Have it ready by the fall of 1945 or I'll have you executed for treason against the Reich!"
  4.
  5. "Ja mein Führer!" With that, Hitler disconnected the line. The scientists in the lab were not going to like this news, but it seemed they were going to have to proceed to human testing faster than anticipated. "Achtung! The Führer has given us new orders. We are to have die Glocke completely functional by 1945."
  6.
  7. "But Herr Kommandant, that would mean-"
  8.
  9. "Yes, we are going to start human testing at once"
  10.
  11. "Should we use the Jews?"
  12.
  13. "No! They might escape. Bring forth our most dedicated soldier!" Two guards rushed off and return escorting an Oberleutnant Anon.
  14.
  15. "Ja Herr Kommandant?"
  16.
  17. "You are to be the first German soldier ever to test our transportation device!"
  18. "What an Honor!" The commander issues me a survival bag, including utility knife, a few boxes of spare ammunition for my service pistol, a journal, and a few rations.
  19.
  20. "We expect you to land somewhere in Dresden, but those are a survival kit just in case."
  21. "Thank you Herr Kommandant"
  22.
  23. "Glory to the fatherland!" A chant rings through the halls as all the staff, and the guards repeat. I stay in the room with the strange bell shaped device that is going to transport me the Dresden. A countdown initiates, and as the numbers draw closer, the device hums louder, and the sound of something rotating becomes present. The countdown hits zero, and a bright flash hits me. I feel as though I'm being disintegrated. When I stabilize, I find myself in some sort of forest. The machine had missed it's mark. I spent a brief amount of time searching for some indication of where I was. I find nothing, but do manage to find a trail. I follow it to what appears to be the outskirts of a village. It is most certainly not German. I brush myself off and walk into town. It was then that I saw it. A village, run by ponies.
  24.
  25. I attempt to appear friendly, at least until I can gather enough information to deem them dangerous. The first to approach me has grey hair.
  26.
  27. "Greetings stranger, I am the mayor of this town of Ponyville. May I ask, who and what are you?"
  28.
  29. "Greetings Frau Mayor, I am Oberleutnant Anon, and I am a human." At this point a purple one also approaches
  30.
  31. "Well hello there, I'm twilight sparkle"
  32.
  33. "Hello Frau Sparkle" I speak with a fake smile, "What is this place I find myself in?"
  34.
  35. "This is Ponyville, a village of Equestria." I take this moment to observe the town, which resembled a typical European village. Smaller stores and shopping centers, with houses surrounding them. I began to wonder if there was a plan to help me get back in the event that I missed Dresden. In the mean time, I suppose I needed to find a place to live.
  36.
  37. "Would a town like Ponyville have a place for me?" I asked politely, still attempting to maintain as good an image as I could. The mayor immediately responded:
  38.
  39. "Of course, there's always room for newcomers!" She had a pony escort me to a house, "This house is vacant, you may claim it." I thanked her politely and entered. The house was fully furnished, with proper chairs, a sofa, bathrooms and bedrooms, and many, many books. I made myself comfortable. I didn't know how long it would take the fatherland to get me back, I might as well make the best of my time here. It was getting late, and the teleportation had left me weaker than expected. I did my evening vow to loyalty and went to bed, ready to explore the unique world I had been placed into.
  40.
  41.
  42. I awoke early, as the military had drilled into me that punctuality was perfection. I checked a small stack of envelopes that had developed over the course of the night. The first warned me of a speech I was expected to make tomorrow morning. The next was a letter asking that I visit a pony apparently renown for her intelligence. I dressed myself in my uniform and left to see a pony named "Twilight Sparkle" on a recommendation from one of the other ponies, curious to see what knowledge I could obtain from her regarding these creatures. I arrived at the address to find a large tree with a door in it. Upon knocking, a voice called me in. I opened the door to find a massive library and a purple pony looking at me.
  43.
  44. "Ah yes, Anon. Please, make yourself at home." I obeyed her wishes and found myself a chair to sit in, though I stared at her intently, expecting some sort of explanation for something. "I suppose you're curious about ponies."
  45.
  46. "Very much so."
  47.
  48. " Well let's begin then. Ponies come in three varieties, Earth ponies, Those who lack wings and a horn, pegasii, those with wings, and unicorns, those with horns. Horns allow unicorns to perform magic, while wings allow pegasii to fly."
  49.
  50. "It sounds to me that the earth ponies are inferior." Twilight ponders this for a moment.
  51.
  52. "Well they lack powers, but they get along the same as everypony else." She defended them, but doubt was present. This was a promising sign. "Anyway, At the capital of Equestria is the royal palace, there are a special breed called Alicorns. Alicorns posses both wings and horns, and their magic is the most powerful among the ponies. They are the royal family who rule over Equestria."
  53.
  54. "So the royals live in a palace?"
  55.
  56. "Yes."
  57.
  58. "Do they live wealthily? Are they living in luxury?"
  59.
  60. "Of course, they're the princesses!" I allowed twilight to continue explaining ponies to me for the next few hours. I had gathered all the information I needed to in order to deliver doubt into the minds of these ponies.
  61.
  62. After the meeting with twilight, I left for home, where I had to draw my plans for the future. Assuming I never made it back to Germany, I needed to know what I could do, what I would do. The details are sketchy, but I can certainly foresee a plan coming to fruition. With my goals in my head, I drafted my speech. The process lasted the rest of the day, but once completed, I had crafted something I was sure would achieve what it was designed for. After my speech was completed, I slept. I was going to need to be as clear headed as possible for tomorrow.
  63.
  64.
  65. "Good Morning Ponies. As I'm sure you know, I am the human that was transported here several days ago. Since that time, you have shown me exceptional hospitality in granting me a house to live in, as well as treating me no differently, despite my obvious difference from you." The ponies stomped furiously at this, proud of the recognition to their kindness. "Which is why I am so upset to inform you that the ponies are living with an obvious flaw within their society." The applause immediately stopped, and many gasped. "Yesterday, I spoke with Twilight Sparkle, and learned much about the pony society. She told me of the difference between a Pegasus and an Alicorn, one being a flying pony, the other being a royal pony. I must ask you ponies though, why are the Alicorns considered better? Surely the combined power of all the unicorns in Equestria are stronger than a few Alicorns? Yet they stand as rulers, taxing the others and living extravagantly while you all must rely on each other simply to continue your existence." Several ponies began murmurings. "Why is a culture that shows so much kindness to others, governed by a ruler that does not return the favor?" The murmurings turned to cheers as many agreed. "Why must the ponies live under the burden of the monarch? I can tell you." Several ponies shouted out, demanding explanation. "The ponies of the earth." Gasps drove through the entire audience, followed by excited whisperings. "The ponies of the earth lack power. They have no ability to fight against the royals. The monarch uses this to maintain her status. By allowing the ponies of the earth to become so prevalent amongst society, she is limiting the power of the others. The earth ponies allow for the perpetuation of the monarchy, and thus the strife of the non-nobility." The ponies whispered louder and more feverishly than before. "SILENCE!" The crowd immediately falls silent, desperate to hear my words. "You there, do you enjoy constant taxation?" The pegasus shakes her head no. "And you, unicorn, do you enjoy the idea of living in a two room house while the nobility spend their lives in a massive castle?" The unicorn responded with an immediate no. "Who is ready to create an Equestria where life is enjoyable, an Equestria where you don't have to hope that your neighbor will help you in your time of need, an Equestria where you can trust the government to know your needs and supply them to you, as opposed to taxing you and taking them away?" The crowd cheers, in a frenzy. I step away from the podium and walk to the front of the stage. "Join my cause, we shall create a perfect society. We will create der Perfekte Verein!" I gave a heil, which most of the ponies in the crowd returned. One earth pony approached the stage though. Once on stage she spoke.
  66.
  67. "Are you guys crazy! Listen to this guy! He is treasonous. He just shows up here, and immediately wants to overthrow the princesses! Not to mention that he's blaming the earth ponies for the problems of Equestria!"
  68.
  69. "Tell me, what is it that you do?" She's hesitant to respond, but eventually stammers out an answer,
  70.
  71. "I work in a store."
  72.
  73. "What do you sell in the store?"
  74.
  75. "Flowers"
  76.
  77. "How long does it take you to grow flowers to sell?"
  78.
  79. "Depending on the flower, around half a year."
  80.
  81. "Imagine how much quicker you could grow the flowers if you had a horn to cast a growth spell. Or if you could fly to the clouds and deliver as much water and sunlight as the flowers needed." The unicorns and pegasii cheer ferociously at this. Most of the earth ponies had left by this point. "How has your store survived if you can't do this yourself? I suppose it would be from the hard work of the pegasii, who move the clouds for you, and the unicorns, who research the needs of the flowers beforehand, so you know just how much food, sun, and water they need." The earth pony looks humiliated, and walks off the stage. "See what leeches these ponies are to society? How much effort the unicorns and pegasii of Equestria put forth, so that she may continue to sell her flowers to the very same ponies who worked so hard to grow them in the first place?" Once more the unicorns and pegasii cheered uproariously. I delivered another heil, which they all returned and chanted repeatedly. I stepped off from the stage, content that I had delivered my message successfully. I couldn't help but hold back a smile as I walked off the stage, I had delivered doubt into their hearts, and now that it's there, they will believe. Once off the stage, I was swamped by ponies looking to ask me questions. The first one was a bright blue one with rainbow hair.
  82.
  83. "Anon, Anon, what you said was so true. I know I work really hard to provide proper weather patterns, and those earth ponies don't even bother to thank me! Where do I sign to be part of what you're offering?!"
  84. "My dear, there is nowhere to sign, though if you want to hear more, or if I need any help with anything, feel free to stop by my house, and I'll be glad to speak with you then. Many others begged me to teach them more, or that they wanted to be part of der Perfekte Verein. I told them all the same thing. I would deliver more speeches if it is what the people want, and that if they wish to join, just continue believing what they heard.
  85.
  86. Dealing with the crowd lasted for most of the morning. By the time I had gotten lunch I was exhausted. I had to walk home however. Along the way a crowd of angry earth ponies crossed my path, and seemed intent to see me dead. They rushed at me quickly. I grabbed my service pistol, an older issue, a Mauser C96 SchnellFeuer, Germany's first automatic pistol. It was already loaded, so I cocked the hammer and the ten rounds in the magazine were expended in an instant. Several of the mob fell to the ground, bleeding or dead. I didn't have the time to reload however, and it seemed as though the crowd was right on top of me. I closed my eyes, and I heard several fleshy thuds sound from among the mob. Upon opening them, a squad of pegasii had tackled the earth ponies and rendered them immobile. The leader among them appeared to be the same Blue pony with the rainbow mane that I had met after the speech. She grinned at me, and I smiled back.
  87.
  88. "That was quite impressive." I spoke earnestly, so that I may win her over.
  89.
  90. "Ah, it was nothing."
  91.
  92. "How would you and your friends be my special guard, in case more earth ponies try to attack me?" Her
  93. face lit up at the idea.
  94.
  95. "We'd be honored!" The earth ponies scurried off, and the blue one informed the others of my offer, each seemed reasonably happy with the proposition.
  96.
  97. "Alright, from now on, you shall be part of my Ober Garde Frau....."
  98.
  99. "Rainbow Dash, the name's Rainbow Dash"
  100.
  101. "Miss Rainbow Dash, and all of you fine pegasii, shall from here on be part of my Ober Garde. Congratulations." The pegasii looked to one another excitedly. "Come to the carousel boutique tomorrow at 2, I'll have you sized for uniforms." The pegasii flew away, giggling and nudging each other playfully, save for Rainbow Dash who remained with me. Several ponies had rushed towards the sound of the gunfire, and looked upon the bodies of the dead earth ponies. I explained the situation, and Rainbow Dash confirmed my story as true. The ponies seemed relieved, though still upset that the earth ponies were injured. Doctors rushed to the wounded earth ponies and took them off to the hospital as quickly as possible. After more detailed explanation to some of the royal guard, followed by a confirmation from the witness, Rainbow Dash, I was free to go. I returned home, thoroughly defeated by the day. I stripped my pistol, cleaned it, and reloaded it. I was going to need to be careful, even with a squad of pegasii guarding me, if I draw too much attention, things could turn sour quickly. After a quick wash, I returned to my bed to enjoy a relaxing read followed by a good night's sleep.
  102.
  103.
  104. The new day brought upon me a new set of challenges. I awoke early as ever, prepared myself a good breakfast, primarily of eggs, as the ponies haven't a need for meat. I dawned my uniform, and went to greet the day anew. Two pegasii were already standing at my door, looking slightly bruised. I knew what had happened, but asked anyway.
  105.
  106. "Why do you appear so....damaged?"
  107.
  108. "Early this morning, three earth ponies tried to burn your house. We had a small skirmish, but in the end, they left, defeated." I smiled and extended my hand, which made contact with their hoof. I could barely wrap my hand halfway around their hooves.
  109.
  110. "Thank you very much, you brave ponies." Sincere as I could muster, I shook their hooves firmly, and smiled warmly. The two blushed slightly.
  111.
  112. "It was nothing." The two followed me into town as I went shopping, each shop answered my needs with varied emotion. Certain shops, such as the bakery, outright banned me with a hiss for my hateful words to the earth ponies, others welcomed me with open arms. Nevertheless, I found what was needed, and upon returning home, had found the time drawing near 2, meaning I had to leave for the boutique. The two pegasii guarding me seemed antsy.
  113.
  114. "What's got you so worked up?" I asked conversationally.
  115.
  116. "We're just excited for our uniforms. What's even better is that it's made by a unicorn, so we know it's good." They responded honestly, believing entirely the words they had just spoken. The attacks the earth ponies had made on me only served to solidify their belief that the earth ponies are inferior, and potentially dangerous to pegasus and unicorn society. We entered the boutique to find several other pegasii, including the blue one from before. She was speaking to the white unicorn who owned the boutique.
  117.
  118. "Speak of the devil, there he is now!" She said cheerfully. "Rarity, I'd like you to meet Anon. He's really smart, and he has plans to make our lives better." Rarity turned to me and spoke in a mellow woman's voice.
  119.
  120. "Anybody who can promise me a better life, is a friend of mine." I kissed her hoof, which she seemed thrilled by. A little charisma goes a long way in these parts. We lined up the pegasii, each getting measured. Each pegasii was practically jumping with joy to be part of my Ober Garde. Once the measurements were completed, Rarity asked, "What is it exactly that you want them to be wearing?"
  121.
  122. "A uniform, like mine, only in a dark blue."
  123. "It's not a fashionable as I'd like, but the customer is always right. Expect them by next Wednesday" She went to the backroom, and the pegasii surrounded me. They were all blabbering about their excitement.
  124. "So are we official members now?"
  125.
  126. "I can't wait!"I hushed them, and told them of what's going to happen next. They'd need to be prepared for whatever violence may occur.
  127.
  128. "I've shared my message with you all, but that's just a small portion of what's out there. There's many more ponies who need to be warned of the danger of the earth ponies." One of the pegasii chimed in.
  129. "We need to show them! They can't let the earth ponies hold them down any longer!"
  130. "We're going to need to travel, and that means that I'm going to need a larger guard. Try to round up any friends you have, see if they're willing to join our cause." The pegasii sped off to recruit as many as they could. Each soul brought to my aid, they thought, would bring them closer to a better life. A better life, that I intended to deliver onto them.
  131. I returned home to find a disgruntled twilight sitting in my living room. "Well hello Frau Twilight, what brings you here?"
  132.
  133. "Your messages to the pony public. Their wrong! You can't just go and say that the problems of Equestria are caused by the earth ponies! They've done no wrong, and they work just as hard as everyone else!" She worked herself into a fury, huffing and puffing with each exclamation she made.
  134.
  135. Twilight has shown herself to be a very intellectual pony, I attempted a logical appeal. "Now, now Frau Twilight, calm down, let me explain. Yes, the earth ponies work hard, but for what purpose? They work only to benefit themselves. You saw what happened with the flower pony. She works hard, but she also uses the work of the weather pegasii. Do the pegasii get any money from her flower sales? No, she keeps the money for herself. What about the other earth ponies? The farmer earth ponies? They too use the pegasii. The market earth ponies? They produce menial goods solely to profit from the hardworking unicorns and pegasii. Every scientific achievement of Equestria was provided by unicorns. Where are the earth ponies technologically? They are in the stone age, but they live off the technology provided to them by the unicorns. They simply lack the abilities of the others." I could tell by the change in her demeanor during this that she accepted what I said as fact, unable to deny the evidence placed before her.
  136.
  137. "Well.....I suppose you're right, but I don't like it"
  138.
  139. "Would it be worth mentioning that since I've come to Equestria, I've been attacked by the earth ponies twice?"
  140.
  141. "Oh my....I didn't know that"
  142.
  143. "If it weren't for the bravery and strength of the pegasii guards I have, I would have been burned alive last night." I saw her head reeling by this development. The unsavory actions of the earth ponies did not expose the attitude of the earth ponies well to twilight. The confusion in her eyes told me of a tempest raging. Her emotional side claimed the earth ponies pure, and gentle. The logical side reminded her of the violence on me, as well as the leeching the earth ponies were guilty of. She raised herself from the chair, and still deep within though, excused herself. She stumbled out the door, just as Rainbow Dash and several other pegasii entered. They sat at my dining table and unrolled a map. I joined them at their beckoning. The map revealed a continent, presumably Equestria, and several lines connecting dots.
  144. "We've done a little work, and this is the best way to travel in order to maximize the amount of ponies you can speak with." I looked it over, several large cities, were marked on the map: Trottingham, Manehattan, Fillydelphia . The travel looked long, but the pegasii reassured me. "They all follow train lines, so it'll be easy going." After soaking in the extant of my trip, and how it had already been planned out, I thanked the pegasii.
  145.
  146. "Thank you so much for helping me plan this. I would have had no idea where to begin. I'm very lucky to have you all with me." I patted Rainbow Dash on the head. All the pegasii looked abashed. The pegasii rolled up the scroll and left. I finally had a moment to rest.
  147.
  148. The clock had struck 5 p.m. a while ago. I went to eat dinner out. Each table next to me was occupied by pegasii and unicorns, the earth ponies ate in various corners, so as to avoid me as much as possible. I chuckled at the thought. My dinner consisted of a salad, complete with cucumber, carrot, and egg pieces. I ate it all, while the crowd of onlookers watched, seemingly on edge for me to either choke, or spontaneously deliver a speech. I planned to do neither as I finished my salad. The bill was paid, and I made my way out. I heard conversation resume as I walked away. On the way home, I stopped by the boutique just as it was closing. I reminded Rarity of the uniforms, which she confirmed she had begun working on, as well, I placed an order for several exact copies of my current uniform, and a few dark robes as well. She wrote down my request, smiled, and bid me farewell. I departed and landed safely at home with no earth pony interference.
  149.
  150. I sat on the edge of my bed, a deep sigh escaping from my chest. It had been a long day, and maintaining such a high amount of charm and appeal was draining to say the least. I looked through what bags I had. I hadn't touched half of them since moving into this room. I found my survival bag, complete with about 6 spare boxes of C96 ammunition and four days worth of military grade rations. There was also my soldier's bag, which consisted almost entirely of spare ammunition. I could start a war with all of this ammunition. My soldier's bag also contained some spare wire, a spool of gauze, and a utility knife. The knife was serrated on one side, a gruesome tool that the British hated with a passion. After making a mental checklist of what I had, I shifted my belongings into my survival bag. From this point forward, my survival bag had everything I would need on my trips abroad. The bag, despite containing almost every object from both bags, was still light. With my packing done, I slept heavily. A new journey awaited as we went forth to new cities.
  151.
  152. I awoke early, for once it was an advantage, as the train ticket required me to do so. I quickly dawned my uniform and left for the station. On my way there, I stumbled across Twilight, who averted her eyes. She approached, but refused to look me in the eye.
  153.
  154. "Anon, I wanted to say I'm sorry for reacting so harshly to you."
  155.
  156. "It's quite alright Twilight."
  157.
  158. "After considering what you said, I found you were right all along. If there's anything I can do, just let me know." A perfect opportunity, as I needed to win over the unicorns as I had the pegasii.
  159.
  160. "I'm going to be leaving for other cities soon, can I count on you to manage my supporters, and perhaps recruit new ones?" She smiled softly at this and looked up to my eyes.
  161.
  162. "With such sound logic like yours, I don't see why I couldn't!" She laughed, I chuckled. This was going better than expected. With Twilight working to secure a base of operations, as well as recruit unicorns, I could establish a base here, vital for what I had planned.
  163.
  164. We quickly said our goodbyes, and I continued to the train station. Upon meeting there, I found myself surrounded by pegasii. My squad of 6 or 7 had managed to recruit so many of their friends that it looked as though we were going to have the entire train to ourselves! I waited patiently for the train to arrive. The train ran a little late, but once it had chugged into the station, we scrambled aboard. Each pegasii flashed their ticket and moved into the car. I sat myself down somewhere near the back of the fourth car. The room was reasonable, a bench facing both sides capable of holding two people, and leg room for two to sit opposite each other. I shared my car with Rainbow Dash and two other pegasii. I remained fairly quiet, attempting to plan ahead what had to be done. The pegasii, however, chattered incessantly, and only occasionally brought me into the conversation.
  165.
  166. "Anon, what's it like where you're from?"
  167.
  168. "Well, where I'm from, we're having much the same problems as you are. We too have a race that is ruining the lives of others. Our government has taken steps to stop this from happening, steps that I am going to try to mimic here." They all listened intently, their eyes growing wide with wonder as I continue to explain Earth. "The problem is, there's many people who don't believe us. They are waging a war against us. Our power is very strong, and we've done well to stop them from ruining our just cause. Our fleets of aircraft and our superior tanks far outclass them, making defeat inevitable for them." The ponies seem fascinated, and perhaps a little prideful that they're following a man from so great a place. At this time a waiter enters the room.
  169.
  170. "Would you like anything to drink?" The pegasii chime in nearly simultaneously.
  171.
  172. "I'll have a colt-a cola please."
  173.
  174. "A dos equines for me."
  175.
  176. "I'll have some coke too." The waiter eyes me.
  177.
  178. "I'll have a beer too, dos equines." The waiter jotted down a few notes and departed. His interruption allowed me to slip out of the conversation once more. I allowed the pegasii to continue talking while I drank my beer. The drink gave me the ability to calm down while posed with this infinite chatter amongst the pegasii. I slipped into a slumber while the clacking of the train on rails continued ever onward to our destination.
  179.
  180. I was roused by Rainbow Dash at our destination. Judging by the setting sun, I had slept most of the day. I stirred, and eventually rose with my bag. The pegasii led me to the Inn I would be staying at. I quickly settled in, Rainbow Dash on guard while I returned to the land of dreams. The morning brought about a speech. Much the same in form to my original, with the same results. Inevitably I made some angry, others found truth in my statements. The Ober Garde handled dealing with the fan-ponies who wanted to dedicate themselves to my cause. The few that I spoke to directly were appointed, by me, to either manage my followers, or to begin training for combat, in the event of an earth pony riot. The roles I assigned were based on species. It became clear to me that while Unicorns bared magic, they were not meant for a true combat role. Their power lie in intelligence more than anything. The aggressive nature of the pegasii, as well as their outstanding physical condition allowed them to better handle fighting. Each town handled the same as the last. By the end of the second week, I had accomplished my goal. I was known throughout Equestria, and not just known, but popular. Der Perfekte Verein had recruitment centers in nearly every major city, and from reports I received, they were always getting ponies who were looking to join the cause. Then, something happened, a national tragedy, according to the ponies. It was a blessing in disguise for me.
  181.
  182. After returning to Ponyville, I had found out that massive earth pony riots had broken out in various towns. Der Perfekte Verein guards handled the riots as well as they could, but they were not free from casualty. On some particularly bad riots, such as the one in Ponyville, the Royal guard had to have been deployed to maintain peace. This gave the earth ponies some particularly negative feedback. I wandered past the guards, some remained stone-faced, others smiled as I walked past, until I found myself in the hospital. I was greeted by a nurse, who smiled cheerfully.
  183.
  184. "Well hello there Anon, what brings you here?"
  185.
  186. "I came to see the brave souls who defended the safety of the town during the riots."
  187.
  188. "Well, you can go into just about any room, they're everywhere." I took her advice. Throughout the halls I hear mothers, sisters, and younger siblings sobbing at the extent of the injury delivered to their loved ones. Each room I visited, the ponies delivers a heil, or, if too injured, would at least acknowledge my presence with some sort of positive response. I thanked each pony I could for their sacrifice. I consoled the grieving relatives to the best of my ability, reassuring them that it was for a good cause, and that they'll all be perfectly fine in a matter of weeks. I left the hospital after a few hours, and returned home. I found a ragged Twilight waiting for me.
  189.
  190. "Mr. Anon, you've missed out on so much!"
  191.
  192. "I've been told what I missed, Frau Twilight." She looks at me blankly, as if unsure of what to do now. I chime in again. "Tell me, what are the results of these skirmishes?"
  193.
  194. "Well, the majority of the non-earth pony population is now very upset at the violence of the earth ponies. The princesses however, support them." I had been unbuttoning the jacket that I had been wearing when she spoke those words. I had stopped dead. The princesses are supporting the earth ponies. This was something I had expected, nonetheless this would prove a challenging crevice to navigate, if it were navigable at all. I spoke sternly at Twilight, openly showing my discontent.
  195.
  196. "What has the princess said regarding the matter?"
  197.
  198. "She said: ' that the earth ponies are a viable race which deserve the same respect as the pegasii and the unicorns. Anypony who acts in a divergent fashion to this belief are to be considered treasonous, and will be tried as such'."
  199.
  200. There appears to be little wiggle room to work with. Should I continue, I'll be an outlaw. Should I quit, my goals will never be achieved. This could only possibly end one way. With a somber I turn to Twilight, our eyes lock.
  201.
  202. "Do you realize what this means, Frau Twilight?" She appears to be at a loss. "This means war."
  203.
  204.
  205. I immediately got to work drafting a letter:
  206.
  207. Dear Perfekte Verein,
  208.
  209. The princess's recent defense of the earth pony assaults only serve to verify my words. She is defending those that enable her to maintain supremacy. The princess is demanding that we treat those who attack us as equals. This is a demand I do not intend to comply with. We are now outlaws by Equestrian law. All the better! It is better to be an outlaw in a corrupt society than to adhere to the wrong. Celestia has issued us an ultimatum, surrender ourselves to her will, and allow the earth pony scum to continue to hold back the true power of the unicorns and pegasii, or be arrested. I intend to choose neither, I will fight to continue my work. We will fight to ensure the unicorns and pegasii reach their true potential. We will fight to keep our homes safe from the dangerous earth ponies. We shall see to it that action is taken to ensure the betterment of ponydom. Muster your guard, this is war.
  210.
  211. I had twilight dispatch the letter to all Perfekte Verein stations across Equestria. Within minutes, stations had written back, declaring themselves loyal to the cause, and dispatching their guards to our location. By the end of the day, I had a force of nearly 10,000 pegasii and 6,000 unicorns. I took my original Ober Garde to the side and spoke to them.
  212.
  213. "You are all my most trustworthy guards. It is for this reason, that I name you the commanders of the army." They looked at each other excitedly. I handed them the uniforms that Rarity had completed. They dawned them and walked out with me to see our army. The commanders and I heiled, and the army did the same. I addressed the army. "We are going to war. This will not be easy, and I cannot guarantee all of you will come out of this alive, but you are fighting for the best good there is. You are fighting to ensure that Equestria no longer suffers under the rule of a tyrant, who only seeks to benefit herself. You fight to cleanse this land of the plague of earth ponies who prevent Equestria from reaching its full potential!" The army cheered. "These will be your new leaders. Learn them well, for they shall be leading you to glorious victory. " I took Rainbow Dash to the side.
  214.
  215. "You are my most trusted guard, which is why, in full view of these ponies, I name you Supreme Commander." Immediately her jaw dropped. Her eyes grew wide, her pupils dilating. "Do you accept the honor of leading these brave souls, the honor of defending your people?"
  216. "Most definitely." She spoke proudly, almost egotistically. The army cheered once more. They chanted
  217.
  218. "Heil Rainbow Dash, Heil Anon"
  219.
  220. I made a motion to silence them. Immediately the group fell silent. "Undoubtedly, the princess is mustering her forces as well. We must attack now, before she can organize. Commanders, take control of the army, and march them to the capital!"
  221.
  222. The commanders did exactly that, corralling the army and sending them off in the proper direction. The march lasted the better part of a week. We stopped in various small towns, killing off any earth ponies we came across. Once the town had been captured, I left a small contingent of Unicorn as guard. They were meant to maintain order, and kill any earth ponies that threatened the peace. A days march from the capital, we halted in a small village. A group of earth pony militia had formed and threatened us. I had the first line of pegasii ascend to the sky, the other lines becoming defensive. The earth ponies charged. The unicorns fired bolts, which delivered varying injuries, into the earth ponies. Some collapsed, others began to bleed, a few outright exploded. The effect was demoralizing, and by the time the earth ponies came into fighting distance, their charge lacked much of its original passion. The lines of pegasii engaged the earth pony militia. All the while, the airborne contingent landed from behind, and assaulted the militia's rear. What little organization the earth pony militia had broke, and they attempted desperately to flee. Some did manage to escape, and they ran toward the capital. I shouted to my army as the earth ponies fled.
  223.
  224. "See how desperate these creatures are. They are dependent on their princess to protect them, as they cannot stand up to the superior breeds themselves!" The army gave a cheer, and we occupied the town. Tomorrow begins the attack on the capital. I called my commanders into a makeshift planning room. "What kinds of defenses are we looking at?"
  225.
  226. "Canterlot has one outer wall, and the fortress, which doubles as the royal palace. The outer wall will presumably be manned by royal unicorn guards. Once inside, there'll be street fighting, and the fortress will be heavily defended." I ponder for a moment, these unicorn guards will be difficult to handle.
  227. "Pegasii, you will fly over the wall and engage in street fighting in an attempt to either draw the guards off of the wall, or to out flank the guards from the inside. The unicorns will bombard the walls and draw the guards attention." With our battle plans set, the commanders and I fell to sleep.
  228.
  229. My early morning routine remains untouched by this civil war. I roused the commanders early, and the commanders subsequently roused the troops. Within the hour, the pegasii were taking off for the city, while the unicorns marched toward the walls fearlessly. As we approached the town, I saw the formation of pegasii descend, unmolested, into the city. We slowly made our way into barrage distance, and yet, all was quiet. We continued to approach, and instead of magic being hurled at us, we found cheers being hurled at us. The unicorn's guarding the wall had mutinied in favor of us. They opened the gates to the walls, and the pegasii met us on the other side.
  230.
  231. We reformed our ranks, the ex-royal guard taking the front. Their armor and military expertise will surely boost the performance of our army. We marched on the fortress. Ponies cowering in the homes look in awe as our army marched in line toward the center. Eyes in windows, behind counters, whatever they could to see the rebel army while protecting themselves. The city streets opened up into a clearing that formed a ring around the castle. Outside of the fortress we met with the princess's army. It was a large force of earth ponies. They were armored, and had weapons. The battleground was silent, as both armies eyed each other from opposite sides of the clearing. The tension was palpable as I eyed my ultimate goal, the fortress on the opposite side of that army. I fired a shot from my pistol, signaling the attack.
  232. The majority of the pegasii took to the skies. The unicorns, aided by the ex-royal guard, took aim and fired upon the charging earth ponies. The armor served to protect them better, as magic bolts were deflected off of the armor. My pistol, however, was strong enough. I took as many pot shots as I could. A metallic clang and a fleshy thwack would resound with every bullet that took down a pony. The earth ponies drew nearer, and the unicorns had changed tactics. At a closer distance, they began to project beams of magic, burning all those who come into contact with it. This was more draining on the unicorns, and couldn't be done effectively at a distance, but it was more devastating. The pegasii had taken to dive-bombing the charging earth ponies. They'd swoop down, pick one up, fly high, and drop him to his death. The result was a gruesome spectacular that flung chunks of pony into the enemy formation. The distance had closed after I had emptied my magazine. The unicorns rushed in, ducking and rolling to avoid the axes and swords the earth ponies wielded. Casualties mounted as the battle raged, unicorn, pegasus, and earth pony alike, fell in the heat of the combat. The unicorns proved to be devastating, between bolts of magic, and goring the enemy with their horns, they held their ground against the earth ponies efficiently. The earth ponies had sustained too many casualties, and began to retreat to the fortress. I allowed my army to attack them as the earth ponies fled. The battlefield was strewn with burnt, exploded, dismembered bodies of ponies, mostly earth. As we advanced toward the fortress, I saw a body who had his stomach seared open, revealing his organs to the world. Another had his leg cut off, and from the disgustingly unnatural way his other legs were bent, I assumed his legs were thoroughly shattered. We entered into the fortress, and began a grueling hall fighting. The earth ponies took into phalanx formations to block our access. The unicorns ability to vaporize the earth ponies' shield proved invaluable. Hall after all, we had to fight spear walls, until eventually we came into the final hall. The earth ponies as created a barricade. Several pegasii charged the barricade in an attempt to knock it down, and were speared. The unicorns set fire to the barricade, which caused the defenders to flee into the royal chamber. The unicorns swiftly extinguished the fire, and removed the barricade. With only the royal chamber left, we entered. There sat the princesses, surrounded by the remnants of the earth pony army. The princesses launched magical beams at us. Lines of pegasii fell dead. The pegasii dispersed, and the unicorns established a barrier. The earth ponies used this opportunity to charge the unicorns. A fatal mistake. When they charged the unicorns, the pegasii hit them from the rear, swiftly incapacitating them.
  233.
  234. The princesses, witnessing the loss of the last of their troops, capitulated. They removed themselves from their thrones and sat, surrounded by my army, in shame. I met them eye to eye.
  235.
  236. "So you've overthrown us. For what purpose!?" The white one demands. "Why do you come here, and incite rebellion?" I smirk, even in defeat, she's strong.
  237.
  238. "Why, to better the lives of those who deserve it of course. You'd think I'd let ponies suffer because you want to maintain power?" I was pacing around her, she didn't follow me with her head, only listened. "What good does it do to fight the inevitable hmm? You place a species of pony that is inferior, in hopes of leeching away at the others so that you can appear superior in every way? I refuse to let it happen." I stopped behind her, she shouted to the air in front of her, still refusing to look at me directly.
  239.
  240. "You're crazy! I cared for each pony race, I ensured their wellbeing!" A gunshot booms, blood splatters on the floor. The once proud princess falls, limp, to the floor, a piece of her skull now missing. Her neck, unable to support her open head, gives way, and her chin cracks on the floor. I gush of blood and grey matter exits. The blue one shrieks.
  241.
  242. " TIA! You....you monster!" I look at her stoically. She's weeping. "You, you killed my sister!"
  243.
  244. "Yes I did"
  245.
  246. "Kill me too." She demands emphatically. "I cannot live to see this atrocity any longer. Kill me." I chuckle.
  247.
  248. "No, I don't think I will." The princess looks at me stunned, and fearful. She slumps to the floor, next to her dead sister, in defeat. "Have her imprisoned." Two guards come and take her away, weeping.
  249. "No! No! Please spare me the misery!"
  250.
  251. I go to a balcony overlooking the city. The army had congregated in the courtyard. Without saying a word, I delivered a heil. The army cheered uproariously. I returned to the throne room, my commanders were waiting.
  252.
  253. "What should we do now?" One of them asked.
  254.
  255. "Have the army instill martial law until stability can be established. Wouldn't want any earth ponies to get too rowdy." The commanders fly off. I hold back Rainbow Dash. "You did exceptionally well commander. We had far fewer casualties than I would've anticipated."
  256.
  257. "Thank you Anon, but may I ask, what plans do we have now?" I look out a window at the setting sun.
  258.
  259. "Victory is ours Frau Rainbow, now we can make of this land what we wish." Rainbow Dash nods and flies off. Indeed, there were going to be some drastic changes. Changes that Hitler would be proud of.
  260.
  261.
  262. Instilling martial law proved to be the best decision to make, for as soon as I stepped into power as the supreme head of government, the earth ponies attempted to rebel, or riot. Each riot was put down swiftly by the military guard placed in each village. The riots were often bloody, a resulted in casualties for the earth ponies, the unicorns who were guarding the towns, however, usually only suffered minor wounds. Despite suppression, the riots continued however, which prompted me to launch the perfect society initiative prematurely, if nothing else then for the support it would receive in the face of the violence of the earth ponies.
  263.
  264. "Twilight, could you come here for a moment?" During these past few weeks of rule, Twilight had effectively become my secretary, and I had begun to feel attached to her. She was loyal in every way, something I was deeply grateful for. She was smart, her counsel on matters Equestrian made it all the much easier to instill my will on the ponies. Finally, I felt relaxed around her. She knew me personally, so I didn't have to appear as a consistently rigid dictator around her. I could joke, laugh, and even share a drink with her, though she would often refuse.
  265.
  266. "Yes Anon?"
  267.
  268. "Take a letter please:
  269.
  270. Citizens of der perfekte Verein, The escalating violence among the earth pony populations is becoming drastic, and action must be taken to prevent more damages. The government would like to extend a gracious hand to the earth ponies, and grant them amnesty from their crimes in fighting against us in the Equestrian Civil War. Furthermore, we ask that all villages designate a zone in which the earth ponies will live. This relocation is purely for the safety of the nonviolent earth ponies who would otherwise be incriminated by the riots, and to protect those ponies who would be hurt by the riots. These zones are to be guarded by no less than 1 guard for every 10 earth ponies, in order to ensure stability between the earth pony zone and the village. All earth ponies are subject to relocation, and any who refuses is to be considered an enemy of the state, and dispatched accordingly."
  271.
  272. "Would that be all?"
  273.
  274. "Yes, please send it off immediately, and twilight?"
  275.
  276. "Yes Anon?"
  277.
  278. "Take a break, you've been working so hard, you've run yourself ragged. I have an idea, how about we go to a restaurant for dinner? My treat."
  279.
  280. "Thank you Anon." She smiles and leaves to deliver the letter. I take advantage of the lull in activity to visit my favorite prisoner. The blue alicorn stands chained, back against the wall. I enter her cell. She looks weak, though defiant.
  281.
  282. "How's my prisoner doing?"
  283.
  284. "ready to send you do Tartarus." I hit her across the face, which prompts her to spit on mine. I chuckle lightly while wiping it off with my left hand.
  285.
  286. "My aren't you feisty? There seems to be something you're forgetting." I grab hold of her horn and feel the ring that prevents her from using her magic, she gasps. "You're completely powerless here. I control you." I apply pressure towards the base of the horn, making as if to snap it off of her head. She shrieks in pain. I subside, but pull on her horn to bring her face closer to mine. "Or need I remind you?" She responds by spitting on my face again. I snort, and bring my hand down onto her snout again. She yelps as her nose begins to trickle red. "I see that you still don't comprehend the extent of your situation." I insert a finger into her marehood, and she immediately seizes. "I can do whatever I like, and you have no ability to say otherwise." I wiggled my finger to emphasize. I slide my finger out of her, and she just stares at me. Her defiance has dissolved to fear now. "That was rather enjoyable." I flash her a grin, "Perhaps we can go further next time." I see her twitch slightly at the thought. I make as if I'm going to leave, but I return with my combat knife in hand. I lightly graze over her body, not cutting anything yet. "Where should I go for?" She's crying now, in a combination of fear and hatred.
  287.
  288. "Don't go for anywhere."
  289.
  290. "Oh but where's the fun in that my little prisoner?" I move swiftly, and cut through the tip of her wing. The blade slides effortlessly through the flesh, and the serrated edge allows for a reasonable saw through the thin bone. She lets out a cry of pain. I perform the same action on her other wing. Both wingtips are oozing blood. "Alright, I believe that'll do it for today. Rest up, I wouldn't want you to suffer from lack of sleep." I smile again and make my way back into the royal chamber, now converted into my office. Twilight's waiting for me when I arrive.
  291.
  292. "We've got problems."
  293.
  294. "What kind of problems?"
  295.
  296. "Some of the earth ponies overpowered the guards, they want extra help."
  297.
  298. "So then let's give it to them." I grab my coat, and walk out onto the town plaza. I gather three elite unicorns, and two elite pegasii units to join me. We board the train without delay, and ride toward my old home town of ponyville. Once in town, two guards brief us on the situation.
  299. "We've got two families who are refusing relocation. They've managed to take out the guards and threatened to attack anyone who approaches."
  300.
  301. "Who are the two families?"
  302.
  303. "The Apples and the Cakes." I had had a brief encounter with the cakes after they refused me service at their store. The Apples I had never come across as of yet, so I do not know what to expect with them. We hiked to the Apple family orchard. A massive farm that grew apple trees, I could understand why they refuse to leave their property. I entered the building, and was nearly bucked in the face by an orange mare. I rolled, and the guards I had brought with me subdued the mare.
  304.
  305. "Who are you, who attacks the leader of this land?"
  306.
  307. "Applejack." She still struggles against the guards. "And I don't very much like what you're doing with
  308. your rules."
  309.
  310. "Well, the law is the law young lady, and I suggest you follow it. Now, I'm going to call each of you into a room, and we'll talk this out. I'll listen to what you have to say, and you'll listen to what I have to say. Sound fair?" The orange pony stops struggling.
  311.
  312. "Alright, I guess."
  313.
  314. "Now, I would like to speak to the eldest of the home." A bright green pony, clearly advanced in age, steps forward.I lead her, with one other guard with me, into what looks to be a kitchen. "Tell me what's wrong."
  315.
  316. "We don't want to leave our land! This land has been in the family for generations! We can't just up and leave!" All the while, I unholster my gun.
  317.
  318. "So you would place your family heritage in front of the law? You do realize what the consequences for breaking this law are, don't you?" The old timer freezes in fear. I level my weapons and fire. The bullet finds its mark in her chest, more to the left. The wound bleeds as the geezer falls to the floor, her heart stopped by lead. The three other ponies in the other room rush into the kitchen, and surround their fallen relative, too shocked to speak. The littlest wails loudly, and the Applejack grabs onto her, and draws her in. The two Unicorns guarding them in the other room face them. I grab hold of the smallest of them. The larger brother rears, ready to defend his sister, but a bolt from one of the guards sends him into cardiac arrest. I take my knife and hold it to the smaller one's skin. Applejack watches in horror, too terrified by the reality of the situation to react as strongly as before. The little one begs her sister to assist.
  319.
  320. "Applejack, please, save me!" Applejack does no such thing as the trembles in shock of what's being done. I dig my knife into her neck, first causing a little trickle of blood. The little one screams, which causes me to dig deeper. The serrated edges of the knife tearing the flesh underneath her soft skin. The knife goes deep into the neck, and I begin to peel upward. The knife dislodges the muscle and flesh from the little one's neck, and a smooth arching motion throws a chunk of her throat onto the floor in front of Applejack. The little one's windpipe is completely visible. As she gasps for air the throat expands and contracts. The little one reaches out to her sister, in some useless hope that she could save her from her inevitable death. I take the knife in my had once more, and repeat the process on the other side of her neck. The chunk of flesh from the back of her neck reveals her spine. Little it left on her neck as I begin to saw through her backbone. She's beyond true consciousness now, she's capable of little more than witnessing her own demise. The serrated edge gradually saws through the spine and severs the spinal cord. With a crack as the little amount of her spine left snaps, the little one's head falls off of her body, and rolls to a stop next to the chunks of neck flesh that were flung in front of Applejack. I toss the body near the head. Applejack is in a state of shock, and cannot look away from the fearful eyes of her dead sister.
  321.
  322. "Now then, Frau Applejack, how about we move you to your new home?" Applejack stiffens when I utter her voice, though the seems to release herself in a sigh. It was a sigh of hopelessness, a sigh of being broken. I had the two pegasii escort her to the earth pony quarters in town, she was shaking and sniffling as she walked out the door.
  323.
  324. Now I had to deal with the cakes. I entered the store and found myself enveloped in the disgustingly sharp smell of all things sugary. The owner of the store stood at the counter, clearly perturbed by my presence.
  325.
  326. "what seems to be the problem here, Mr. Anon?"
  327.
  328. "I've gotten reports that you've refused your relocation, and attacked the guards who were assigned to ensure you were relocated." At this point, and older female, presumably the wife, enters the room from a backroom, wielding two infants.
  329.
  330. "It's the babies sir, we can't take them away from their homes." He speaks in a begging tone of voice, hoping to incite any form of mercy from me. Unfortunately for him, his pleas fall on deaf ears.
  331. "You are to leave immediately. And don't worry about the infants." I walk over and see the infants are a pegasus and a unicorn. I grab hold of the two of them. "They'll be just fine with me." I proceed to smash the first one against a wall has hard as I possibly could. The reaction from the mother and father was something of pure horror. As I pulled the now dead body of the first baby off of the wall, I displayed its caved in face to the parents. The face had been utterly flattened, and the top of the head was protruding, a clear fracture in the skull was seen. The other child began to wail insufferably. The mother, being held back by the two pegasii shrieks,
  332.
  333. "Please, no! Don't do it!" Her cries only serve to goad me onward. I place my pistol against the child's head. The mother was nothing more than a blubbering mess when I pulled the trigger. The contents of the cranium formed a pattern on the parents. The mother fell into a fetal position while the father collapsed onto the floor in shock. A bright pink pony enters the room, she smells strongly of sugar. Her mane was pink as well, and lay flat on her head. Balloons dotted her flank.
  334.
  335. "Oh well it looks like we have guests! And very special guests too! We've got the main man Mr. Anon himself!" Her voice, which appears to be normally cheerful, is disturbingly demonic. "How about a tea party!?" She begins to walk slowly toward one of the guard, but when I blink she appears directly in front of the guard. "Would you like some sugar Ms. guard?" Another blink and the guard is unconscious and she's in front of the other guard. "More tea for you, Madam official?" I aim my weapon as I watch the pony snap the neck of the unicorn. She's right in front of me now. Her eyes are soulless pits of pure dementia. I fire at her, and she reappears to the left, another shot places her above me, on the ceiling. "Looks like Mr. Anon doesn't want to play nice!" She drops from the ceiling, and a bolt of magic from the third unicorn throws her against the wall, another shot from my pistol lands in her stomach. She gurgles blood as she slumps to the floor. "You ruined my tea party....."
  336.
  337. The two pegasii who were escorting Applejack fly into the store and see the bloodshed. "Guards, escort these two to their new locations. Afterwards, return to your homes. The pegasii and the unicorn lead the two remaining members of the Cake family away. I board the train and return home, a smile on my face as I had solved another problem. I meet Twilight at the train station. It had become evening while I was in ponyville, and we were headed off to a restaurant.
  338.
  339. "So, Twilight, where should we go?"
  340.
  341. "I know this really good place on hoof street. Let's go there"
  342.
  343. "Sounds lovely." I follow her to the restaurant. I am greeted graciously by the pegasus owner. The menu doesn't appear appetizing to a human such as myself, though for the sake of enjoying my evening with Twilight, I order a breakfast item. Twilight gets an alfalfa sandwich. We strike casual chit chat, part of what I love about Twilight. The subject quickly turns to ponyville, and the smile leaves my face.
  344.
  345. "What happened in ponyville?"
  346.
  347. "Some dissident earth ponies didn't want to give up their land, that's all."
  348.
  349. "It's a shame these ponies can't just follow the law!" I laugh and agree. Our meals were delivered promptly, and we ate heartily. I was unbothered by what had occurred in ponyville. I scarfed down my toast and eggs, Twilight daintily ate her sandwich. In between bites she'd smile at me.
  350.
  351. "Twilight, I must say. You're dedication to our cause is most...wonderful. It's fantastic to have such a pleasant pony such as yourself so close to me." I'm not sure what exactly is prompting me to feel how I am for her at this moment. Perhaps it's the lack of a proper human mate for the past few months, perhaps I'm becoming so accustomed to seeing ponies that I'm finding them attractive. Either way, I'm beginning to have feelings for Twilight. Twilight swallows her bite of sandwich. Her eyes tell me everything. I put my hand onto her hoof. She's very warm, and she appears to be blushing. After a moment I return my hand to my side of the table. The meal ends soon after this, and we walk back towards the former fortress together. On the way back, Twilight asks:
  352.
  353. "Anon, what do you think of me, not as a worker, but as a pony."
  354.
  355. "I've known you longer than any other pony, Twilight. You're a lovely pony, you're passionate, intelligent, and just generally nice to be around. You make a stressful day tolerable."
  356.
  357. "Anon....I never knew you felt this way about me." She blushes and avoids eye contact.
  358.
  359. "It's been difficult being the only human in Equestria, more so with the revolution. Since I've had you to be there with me, you've made my life all that much better." We arrive at the fortress. We enter, and Twilight delivers a kiss onto my cheek before she scurries off to her room.
  360.
  361.
  362. I greeted the new day with my usual early awakening. I wasn't sure what was going to happen today, but I felt something significant would. I had nothing to do all morning, no major emergency, no stubborn earth ponies, nothing. I decided to pay my prisoner a visit. I descended into the dank dungeon, and found her still chained to the wall. Her wings had stopped bleeding, and she looked awful.
  363.
  364. "What's the matter? Didn't get enough sleep?" She groans for a moment, before raising her head to respond. Her eyes show her weariness, but also contain the fire from before. She mumbled something that I couldn't understand, and I asked her to repeat.
  365.
  366. "Go to Tartarus." Her voice was just as weak as her eyes. The combination of the weak voice and her unwavering hatred were laughable. I couldn't help a small chuckle after she spoke.
  367.
  368. "Are you ready to call it quits? I promise I'll let you go if you just give in."
  369.
  370. "Not to a monster like you." I had decided to attempt to disturb her again, and I slid my fingers between her haunches once more. She responded by urinating on them while she managed snort a laugh. I withdrew my hand from under her spray, and slapped her with it.
  371.
  372. "Why must you make this so difficult. I don't want to hurt you."
  373.
  374. " 'tis a lie." She interjects.
  375.
  376. "I don't want to hurt you, but your stubborn resistance makes it impossible." I finish, not letting her get the better of me. "I want to let you go, I want to have you on my side, but I guess I can't have that." I grasped a rock from the floor of the dungeon. I struck at her wings, and spoke between strikes. "Why. won't. you. just.give.up!?" She let out whimpers, but didn't give in. Each strike, I felt something snap in her wings, and by the end of the blows, a few bones were showing. Her now broken wings were bent in several unnatural angles. Her eyes raged in fury, but she spoke no words. I brought the rock down onto her head, ending her miserable life. I heard what is almost a sigh of relief as her head lolled forward on her neck. I toss the rock aside, and walk back upstairs. I wash off my urine and blood soaked hands, and see twilight for the first time since last night. She seems shyer, understandably. I grant her a smile, and confirm what she was already about to ask.
  377.
  378. "I guess we're together." Her blush rages across her face as I say this. It was certainly a peculiar feeling, knowing that this is an interspecies relationship. Something about her though, she's too human to force me to think of her as purely a pony. She laughs, she plays, she speaks. The feeling was nagging, but I swallowed it for the sake of companionship.
  379.
  380. "I-is there anything that needs to be done?"
  381.
  382. "No Twilight, I don't believe so. Things are all going according to plan."
  383. Those words held true, until mid-day when a bizarre sight greeted my eyes. A pegasus, yellow body with a long pink mane, was protesting my actions against the earth ponies. She had a rabbit who she apparently brought with her. I walked out of the fortress and greeted her. Her soft chanting was hardly what I would call moving, though I suppose she was still a protester.
  384.
  385. "Hello Frau, what may I ask is the problem?"
  386.
  387. "You're being too mean to the earth ponies. I would like it if you would please stop....if that's alright with you..." Not even fully capable of taking a stance against me. She certainly wouldn't be leading a riot anytime soon. As I analyzed the pegasus in front of me, I felt a soft pounding from my leg. I looked down to see the rabbit kicking me. I quickly snatched him up by the ears and examined him. He was swinging his fists at me, though I held him out of reach. The yellow pegasus cried out,
  388.
  389. "Angel Bunny! This is a non-violent protest!" She gave the bunny a stern glance, but he seemed unfazed. I took out my gun and pointed it at the bunny's head. The yellow one screamed and nearly fainted. The rabbit stopped all his activity and stared, eyes wide in fear, down the barrel of the gun. I pulled the hammer back, and the rabbit began the shake in fear. I pulled the trigger. The gun clicked, but did not fire. I gave a hearty laugh as I tossed the bunny to the recovering pegasus. Afterwards I helped her up.
  390.
  391. "I'm not mean, Frau. I mean well for everybody. I'm terribly sorry that I scared you like that. It gets stressful being the head of a developing government, and sometimes I forget my manners. I know things look bad for the earth ponies, but trust me, I know what I'm doing, and everyone will be better off in the end." She accepts my apology and promises, though not whole heartedly, to wait and see what happens before she protests again. She flutters off to her home. I return to my chambers.
  392.
  393. Later in the afternoon, Twilight busts into the room, declaring there's a surprise visitor. A diplomat from the land of the Changelings. I was caught off guard, but quickly ready myself and meet the diplomat in the royal chamber. The diplomat, Queen as it turned out, stood about as tall as the princesses, and was notable for the holes within her legs, and the insect like wings she bore. She introduced herself politely as Queen Chrysalis. I introduced myself.
  394.
  395. "Why have you come here, Queen?"
  396.
  397. "We heard there was a change in government, and we sought to make a good first appearance." Having an ally would be useful, so I was glad she came on good terms.
  398.
  399. "Tell me about the changeling race"
  400.
  401. "Changelings are a race that live off of love. We can take the form of anyone we choose, in order to convince others to love us." A curious power, though perhaps useful for espionage.
  402.
  403. "Can you detect other emotions as well, or only love?"
  404.
  405. "No, we can sense all emotions, each with their own individual tastes." Her coat glistens with sweat. Is she nervous?
  406.
  407. "What kind of resources does your region have?"
  408.
  409. "Our region is primarily barren, as we do not require crops, though it is rich in minerals." She begins to pant as well as sweat more profusely. "May I have a glass of water?"
  410.
  411. "Of course!" I pour her a glass and she quickly swallows the entire glass, asking for another, which I deliver as well. She decides to drink the entire pitcher. I am baffled, and once she's cleared her throat of the last drops, she explains.
  412.
  413. "I sense much hate here, it leaves a very spicy taste in my mouth."
  414.
  415. "I assure you, I bare no animosity towards you." She smiles, revealing her fangs and serpent like tongue.
  416.
  417. "I know. You seem glad to have me here, I taste the sweetness in your words."
  418.
  419. "I would like to propose an agreement," I stated as officially as possible. I couldn't bear to show emotion, as negotiating this would be difficult. "I propose that you provide me with changelings to work for me, as spies."
  420.
  421. "And in return?"
  422.
  423. "What do you wish?"
  424.
  425. "We want what's best for us. We ask for two things: A non-violence treaty, and love." So simple a concession seemed too good to be true. I eagerly accepted.
  426.
  427. "I shall grant you both, you shall provide me spies for my purposes, and I vow to not attack changelings, and I will grant you the love of the earth ponies." A feat that should be accomplished easily. The desperate condition of the earth ponies makes them quick to attach themselves emotionally to others. A few changelings develop relationships with them, and they've got as much love as they can get away with. The Queen hisses with delight and we quickly draw up a treaty. Both names signed at the bottom form a bond that would never be broken. A friendship between the changelings and the ponies had been forged.
  428. An army of changelings were at my disposal, I needed to quickly inform them of their task. I gathered them all as best as I could, and informed them.
  429.
  430. "Changelings, you are here to work for me, you will do what I say without question." The creatures hissed at me, ignoring them, I continued. "Your work is not without reward, however. Your jobs will grant you access to the companionship of those I assign you too." The changelings perked up at this. "You are to act as spies on my behalf. I will plant you in the earth pony communities. Once there, you will develop connections, and alert me to any conspiring or rebellious behavior of the earth ponies." I then separated the swarm into sections and designated communities for them to find. In the blink of an eye, the changelings transformed themselves into ponies, and began in the direction of their towns. The largest bunch was assigned to ponyville, and I accompanied them.
  431.
  432. Once in ponyville we entered the earth pony part of town. The section was barricaded, and guarded by many unicorns. Earth ponies sat at the border, almost begging the guards to attack them. They shouted at the guards, and at me. One even tried to advance on me, but the guards quickly stunned her and she ran off. Inside the barricade, the town was in ruin. Starving bodies littered the streets, stores had windows shattered and the interiors looted. Litter sat everywhere on the street. Various flyers announcing government decisions regarding earth ponies, propaganda posters , and general clutter blew in the wind as I walked the changeling ponies down the street. I came to a stop in front of a particularly emaciated body. The legs were stick thin, unable to support the weight of the practically skeleton pony. She look me in the eyes, and mouthed curses at me before lowering her head once more. Once in the center of the earth pony designated zone, I allowed the changelings to disperse, seeking out their prey. I walked back, making sure to kick the body of the starving horse who challenged me. The kick landed without so much as a thud, as there was too little material to thud against. I exited the designated zone, those ponies who had been near the border had attempted to cross, as signified by a streak of fire lining the border between the zones. Once I approached, the line dissipated. I complimented the unicorns on a good job guarding the border. I then returned to my home in the capital. Soon I would have to implement the final phase of my perfect society, but I need justification, which I hoped the changelings would supply me with.
  433.
  434.
  435. Progress with the changelings moved remarkably slowly. This was due in no part from the lack of resistance of the earth ponies, but rather, because the changelings were unwilling to compromise their sources of love. A situation I had been unable to foresee, though I did my best to handle it. Luckily for me, the taste of hatred can prove an invaluable torture technique, and I made it abundantly clear to their tongues just how far I was willing to go to get the information I required. After having two changelings fall unconscious from the spice generated from my hate, one of them finally cracked. They told me of a conspiracy, headed by a school mistress, to use the children to win affection, and incite a rebellion. A clever ploy, one I wouldn't have seen coming myself. I dismissed the changelings, who carried their fallen comrades back to the earth pony compound. It was time to initiate stage two.
  436. I called for Twilight, and she prepared another letter.
  437.
  438. "Dear Perfekte Verein subjects,
  439.
  440. Recently, a conspiracy has come to my attention, in which a rebellious school teacher wishes to use children to achieve her goals of threatening the safety of the pony community. This news in mind, I have ruled that all earth ponies are to be placed in labor camps, where they can be supervised properly for suspicious activity while being productive members of pony society. All earth ponies who refuse to move to the camps are suspect, and will be imprisoned."
  441.
  442. With the letter sent, I waited for the order to take effect. Once it had, I quickly made my way to the ponyville earth pony compound, where the conspiracy was discovered. I entered the ghetto, which was being contained and moved to camps that were being built outside of town. I made my way to the school house. I opened the door violently, infuriated by the schemes that the teacher had planned. I entered into the room, my boots emanating loud clacks as I stepped on the hard wood floor. The teacher looked to me, and spoke in a slightly fluttering voice.
  443.
  444. "Class, it looks like we have a special guest." She smiled a hopelessly false smile, in an attempt to conceal the workings of her mind. I gave her a sideways glance while inspecting the audience of students I had stepped in front of. Beads of sweat lined her brow.
  445.
  446. "Indeed, class, you do have a guest. Now would you like to tell me just what your lovely teachers been teaching you?" I shot her another glance, a menacing smile graced my lips. The class remained utterly silent, until one white filly spoke up.
  447.
  448. "We've been learning about how to make people like you better!" She cheered. This was all the conformation I needed, it was time to take the offensive. I turned from the class and focused on the teacher.
  449.
  450. "What were you planning to do with that skill?" She froze in place. We both knew that I knew, and she was living on borrowed time. She attempted to stutter a response.
  451.
  452. "W-well......W-we wanted to...umm...." Her mind was not one suited for improvisation. I decided to spare her the embarrassment and conclude this meeting.
  453.
  454. "Well, Frau Cheerilee, I happen to know exactly what you were planning to do with it, and I do not approve. Class, would you be so kind as to have a recess while Frau Cheerilee and I continue our conversation." My eyes never left hers as the students rushed out of the classroom to go play. I waited until the playground activity had begun, and the children were happily cheering and laughing. "You realize what this means, don't you?"
  455.
  456. "Just...make it quick." I shot her in the hoof, her leg collapsed from under her. She let out a yelp.
  457.
  458. "See how easy it is to just bow to my will?" I granted myself a moment to enjoy the sight of a rebellious pony kneeling before me. She had tears streaming down her face when I brought the gun against her head. The trigger locked into the rear position, and her life was no more. I holstered my pistol and went outside to greet the children. "Children, Frau Cheerilee isn't feeling too well now, she says that it's alright if you all just go home." The children let out a cheer as if they had just struck gold. The raced to get home as soon as possible.
  459.
  460. After dispatching of the conspirer, I wandered about the ghetto, seeing if there was any issue with the
  461. relocation process. No major situation arose, though I did have to mediate a dispute between an apparently lesbian couple. One a unicorn, the other an earth pony. They clung to each other, crying, surrounded by unicorn guard. It was at this moment that I found them, and moved immediately to reconcile the situation.
  462.
  463. "What seems to the be the problem here?"
  464.
  465. "Please don't make me lose my Bon-bon! I can't imagine life without her!" She expressed through her tears. It proved quite a conundrum, moving the earth pony means upsetting a unicorn, but not removing her means I've shown mercy.
  466.
  467. "She must go, it's the law."
  468.
  469. "Take me too!"
  470.
  471. "I'm sorry, I can't do that." I turned to the earth pony.
  472.
  473. "I know it's difficult, but it's only temporary, until I can assure that the government is safe. Once stability is restored, you'll get to see her again." The earth pony loosened her grip on the unicorn and faced me, tears still streaming.
  474.
  475. "R-really?"
  476.
  477. "Yes, A few months time, and everything will be back to normal, you'll be with the ones you love again." She pondered for a moment, before a decision had been made. She turned to her lover.
  478.
  479. "Lyra, I have to go, promise you'll write?" She looked to Lyra, tears streaming down her face. Lyra nodded. They embraced once more, and delivered a kiss. Afterwards they parted, Bon-bon being escorted by the unicorn guard. Of course, she'll never see her lover again, but for now, she doesn't know that.
  480. I traveled to the largest camp we had, overseeing the process of determination. I spoke with the officer in charge, Rainbow Dash.
  481.
  482. "Now, what you want to be out on the lookout for are those unfit to work. That means the young, the elderly, the mentally incapable."
  483.
  484. "Yeah, yeah, I know what it means. What do I do with them after I find them?"
  485.
  486. "You'll separate them into groups based on why they've been deemed unfit. The young will be receiving
  487. state educations, the elderly will be placed in communities to live comfortably while being observed, and the mentally incapable will be put under evaluation." Rainbow Dash considers this, and accepts it happily, thinking that she's helping those who need it. In reality, only a third of that was true. The young were going to be educated.
  488.
  489. I left the conference with Rainbow Dash, and observed the screening. The majority of the ponies screened were deemed able, but the fillies, a few elderly, and a couple of the mental patients failed. I first went to the room where the children were kept.
  490.
  491. "Hello Children. I'm here to tell you that the reason you're here isn't because you're in trouble. You're here because you're too young to work like your parents, so we'll be teaching you so that you'll know what to do when you do get old enough to work." The children responded with the expected snorts and groans of disapproval. I left that room and walked across the camp for the holding chambers of the elderly. They were packed together in a large room. I, along with several other ponies, was looking at them from behind a glass window. The elders babbled and discussed what was going on. I nudged a pony, and he flipped a switch. Gradually the babbling died off, turning from a torrent of words, into a stream, into a trickle, then finally silence. Thuds were heard as the ponies in the room fell to the floor. I noted a job well done to the ponies operating the window, and went home.
  492.
  493. A few days later, I decided to inspect the mentally unfit building. The structure that contained the mentally unfit appeared as any asylum would. Hallways with thick doors on either side, a smooth floor, and florescent lighting above. Each door led to a padded room in which those housed inside would find it difficult to hurt themselves. The doctors in the building welcomed me happily. They wanted me to overlook a session they were having. I gladly agreed. They led me to a room where I was issued a surgical mask and gloves. I applied both and entered a dark room, save for the operating table where a grey mare lay. Her head was open, her eyes as well. Both eyes lay in different directions, though they seemed to follow me as I entered. I observed as the doctors poked and prodded various parts of her brain, the assistants taking notes on what the reaction was. The mare spoke in a slurred voice.
  494.
  495. "Well heya there mister, I'm Derpy!" Her cheerful spirit shined even under these conditions. The doctors poked again, and her arm flopped in a direction towards me and fell limp. The assistants were scribbling madly. The doctors then removed a chunk of her brain, which was apparently not a good thing, as she began to cry miserably. "It hurts!" She shrieked. Her sobs and shudders were the source of a frantic scribbling by the nurses. The doctors handed me a syringe and asked me to inject her.
  496.
  497. "I'm gonna put this needle in now alright? It'll make the pain go away." She continued to sob, but whimpered a consent. The needle glided in smoothly, her arm tensed as the injection made its way into the bloodstream. She screamed even louder as the injection took effect. She began to seize violently, foaming at the mouth, and nearly throwing herself to the floor. The flailing became weaker over time, and eventually she returned to her normal self. The nurses jot down more notes, and I was handed a second syringe. The pony was understandably skeptical.
  498.
  499. "You lied to me."
  500.
  501. "I'm sorry, they gave me the wrong needle. I didn't mean it, I promise." She eyed me, or at least as close to it as she could, before she allowed a second needle. I inserted the needle and pressed the plunger. It took a moment for it to take effect, but I could tell it had. Her eyelids began to droop, and her words became more slurred. She spoke softly.
  502.
  503. "I just don't know what went wrong." Her eyes shut, and her breathing gradually faded.
  504. I began my journey back home, but before I managed to walk out, a rabid scream greeted me behind one of the cell doors. I quickly called a doctor over, and he explained.
  505.
  506. "That's a very bizarre case. He refers to himself several different ways, but the most common seem to be either miro, or strelnikov. Miro has delusions of humanity. He believes he's a human, much like yourself."
  507.
  508. "A pony that thinks he's human?"
  509.
  510. "Yes, and not only that, but he has a fear of ponies. He attacks any ponies that come nearby him, claiming that they chase after him and attack."
  511.
  512. "Strange, do we know what causes it?"
  513.
  514. "No, so far all tests are inconclusive, I was actually about to remove him. Would you like to do the honor?" The doctor points to a button on the wall. I raise my eyebrow and press the button. The sound of crackling and a distinct buzzing erupt from the room that screamed at me. The buzzing was overshadowed, however, by more screaming. A deep scream that comes only from true pain. The screaming fades after a few moments, and finally outright stops. The buzzing and crackling continue for a few more seconds before it too dissipates. With the deaths of two mentally unfit ponies, I happily returned home to be greeted by a familiar sight.
  515.
  516. Outside my fortress marches a yellow pony with a pink mane, as well as her little rabbit. I immediately approach them.
  517.
  518. "Just what do you think you're doing?"
  519.
  520. "I'm protesting the way you're treating earth ponies." She seems to have more resolve than before, though I'm still not convinced it'll translate into any real action. "I want you to stop your labor camps immediately, if that's ok..."
  521.
  522. "I told you once before, I know what I'm doing, this is all for the good of the community. I just need to make sure that they won't try anything funny. Besides, the labor isn't really labor, it's more like a job they have while they stay there." The bunny begins to pound on my foot again. I ignore him for the time being.
  523.
  524. "B-but you said thing will get better for them, and they haven't!" Her resolve is certainly stronger, annoyingly.
  525.
  526. "But that was before they planned to overthrow the government, Fräulein*. Now I suggest you stop these silly protests." I looked her dead in the eyes. She did not turn away, in fact, she gave me a stern glare, as if ordering me to stand down. The bunny, kicking my foot, had become my target. I grabbed him by the ears once again. I picked my knee up and placed the rabbit's back against it. A hand on each ear, I pulled. Both ears dislodged from his head with a grotesque tearing sound. The bunny let out a shrill screech, and the pony nearly collapsed at the sight. I drew my knife and sawed off the rabbit's snout. I concluded by driving the knife into the rabbit's eye, and forcing the knife through the upper part of the rabbit's head. I withdrew my knife and sheathed it. The yellow pony stared at me in utter astonishment. I threw the carcass at the pony, which caused her to become physically ill, and entered the fortress, knowing she wouldn't return to protest again. Once in my room, I spoke with Twilight.
  527.
  528. "Twilight, you know how I told you what I thought of you?"
  529.
  530. "Yea?"
  531.
  532. "What do you think of me?" She was taken aback, but replied quickly.
  533.
  534. "Well, I see a strong, caring individual who is willing to sacrifice it all to make the world a better place for ponies, even if it means doing some things that seem bad. You're handsome and devoted to everything you do. I know it's difficult handling everything so hands on like you do, and I just want to say, thank you for making the world so great." She planted a kiss on my cheek.
  535.
  536. She, of course, didn't know what was really happening in the labor camps, nor did I ever intend for her to find out. As far as she knew, I had just moved the earth ponies away so that they can labor and make products for the unicorns and pegasii while we sort through a web of conspiracy. The day was coming to an end, and I quickly felt the onset of sleep. Twilight joined me in bed as we both drifted to slumber.
  537.
  538. *Fräulein (pronounced froyline) is a diminutive term archaically used to refer to an unmarried woman, in modern times the meaning has shifted and has generally fallen out of use, as the term is now deemed offensive. In modern times it carries the connotation of male superiority, as well as insulting the woman as "undesirable" .
  539.
  540. I awaken early as always, and open the door just in time to see a small child sized creature at my shins. He sleepily introduced himself.
  541.
  542. "Hey..I'm Spike." Spike appears to be some sort of lizard. His fangs glint in the morning sun, and his skin is coating of scales of purple and green color. I greet spike.
  543.
  544. "Good morning Spike, I am Anon, now may I ask why you are here?" He nods whilst yawning, then commences his explanation.
  545.
  546. "Twilight never showed up at home last night. I know she works here, she hardly ever shuts up about it, so I thought I'd try looking here."
  547.
  548. "Well it appears you've found her." I remark, making a sweeping motion to reveal a not stirring Twilight.
  549.
  550. "What was she doing here?"
  551.
  552. "I suppose she hasn't told you then?"
  553.
  554. "Told me what?"
  555.
  556. "We're together." The dragon shifted immediately to a drowsy stupor to a shocked frenzy.
  557.
  558. "What! How long has this been going on!?"
  559.
  560. "I would say at least two months." I responded casually, having not interest for his taking issue with our relationship. By this point Twilight was out of bed, she lazily meandered over to Spike. She blushes in embarrassment.
  561.
  562. "Oh, right......" Spike looks angrily at her.
  563.
  564. "Oh right, yeah, the dragon who lives with you. Forgot about him didn't you? You had me worried sick!"
  565.
  566. "I'm sorry Spike, I just wanted to be with Anon for the night."
  567.
  568. "And why didn't you tell me about him!?"
  569.
  570. "I thought it'd be better if I didn't tell you. You tend to get....defensive about things like this." That shut the dragon up. He rage vanished near instantly as he slumped over in defeat.
  571.
  572. "Yea...I guess you're right."
  573.
  574. "Now how about you go home, and I'll be home tonight, I promise."
  575.
  576. "Yea alright." I gave Spike a friendly handshake, and he made his way through the corridors to get outside. I began my daily duty of managing the camp. I entered a camp and saw what I had hoped to see. Inside were starving earth ponies. Emaciated to the bone, most standing on wobbly legs in the winter cold. Their living conditions were rough, barracks with little room for personal space, and a single blanket on each bed. The food given was meager, a mere stew composed of vegetable broth, a few slices of potato, and a hunk of bread. Often times the cooks would deliberately burn the stew, or taint it in some way to make it less appetizing. This was their sole meal. After eating, the earth ponies set about doing work, digging holes, chopping trees, crafting stone. The earth ponies toiled for at least 12 hours, possibly longer if the guards weren't tired of watching them yet. These were the best of the conditions. On the worst, the guards attacked earth ponies at random, beating them, and occasionally killing them. The winter cold would cause snow build up, which the earth ponies would have to shovel away, which did not count into their 12 hour work minimum. With conditions like these, it was no wonder the changelings contacted me.
  577.
  578. "Dear Kommandant Anon,
  579. It has become apparent that the items listed in our treaty are not being provided to us. It appears to be your intent to deny us of the love that you promised us in the treaty. You promised us a stable source of love among the earth ponies, however, currently they are so weak and hopeless that my changelings are left starving. We, the changeling hive, now consider the treaty null and void. Consider this a declaration of war.
  580. Queen Chrysalis."
  581.
  582. Upon reading this, I immediately called for an army, excluding camp guards, to form up. I had predicted this. I did not imagine the earth ponies would be able to love forever in those camps. The day wore on,
  583. and the officers briefed their troops. I sat in my office, too important to lead the army, I watched from afar thanks Twilight's magic. A portal opened up in my office, and I was following the army on its march to attack the Changelings. The organization of my army was awe inspiring, all of them marched in step, their dark blue uniforms were untarnished. I was positive we would strike a definitive victory against the hive. The army stopped marching. Two pegasii flew forward. An hour later they two returned and reported to their officers. The army got up and marched again. By the end of the day, the army stopped at the edge of our territory. They set up camp. Twilight entered the room once more and spoke up, announcing she'd be going home. I wished her a goodnight and she left. I watched the army a little longer. A disturbance had occurred. All the ponies scurried out of their tents, brandishing their weapons and magic. I saw changelings fly and land amongst the ponies, but just as suddenly as they had landed, they had vanished. This seemed to cause the same confusion in the army as it had for me. The army quite literally fought itself. Many cases of friendly fire turned out to be the proper move as what were seemingly ponies collapsed on the ground as changelings. Other times, friendly fire was just that, friendly fire. This confused skirmishing amongst each other lasted a full two hours before it stopped. Either they had removed all the changelings, or they think they have.
  584.
  585. This was when a massive swarm of black insect ponies flew into view. The swarm blocked out my view as they engulfed the army I had raised to fight. The magic that allowed me to view did now allow me to hear, though I could have sworn I heard the anguished screams from the soldiers who fought on my behalf. With nothing left to watch, I waved away the magic portal. I went to bed and slept restlessly, concerned about what I was going to do regarding the swarm that was approaching. I had not expected the changelings to be able to muster such a force.
  586.
  587. In the morning Twilight came in, and I had her immediately start on a note. It begged the stations to muster whatever reserve troops they could in defense of the capital. It was a desperate attempt, but it was all I could do. I stood outside and could see the black cloud on the horizon. They were near, and by the end of the day, our final battle would commence. I and twilight entered the dungeon underneath the fortress. The heavy iron door was our best bet to survive. I had Twilight perform the viewing spell again, this time on the capital, so I could watch the remaining officers and the reserve units form together and attempt to fight. The reserves scattered throughout the city, setting up defenses in houses and shops. The swarm made its initial entry into the city at around 1 p.m. As they walked the streets it appeared as if houses were firing magic bolts to attack them. Changeling soldiers fell during the initial wave, as they tried to figure out where they were being attacked from. Several hundred must have fallen before the second wave.
  588.
  589. This time, in a more competent attempt, the second wave flew into the streets and turned to face the attackers. The urban setting was still proving challenging for the swarm, who had to leap over furniture and broken glass to confront the pony army. Once confronted though, the changelings would attack. Their weapons would hack through the bodies of the ponies. Axes would cleave through shoulders, swords lopping off heads. It was a brutal second wave, but eventually, the ponies managed to hold out again. This was when the third wave arrived. The largest wave to date, they took the appearance of other ponies and would run around the streets, mimicking the crowds of ponies who were fleeing for cover wherever they could. Once within a reasonable distance, they revealed themselves and cut through more ponies. This wave of combat lasted several hours, and the tide seemed to favor neither side. Eventually though, the sheer numbers of the hive overwhelmed the troops, who fell back into the fortress.
  590.
  591. The hacks and cleaves and magic bolts were now more present than ever. They were fighting, quite literally, on our doorstep. I heard one particularly blood curdling scream right outside the door, just before the changelings began to beat on the door. The magic portal showed lines and lines of them swarming every entrance of the fortress. Bangs and clangs were heard as swordfights were had and magic spells hurled. The banging on the door grew stronger. I didn't have much time left. I looked to Twilight, who appeared equally scared.
  592.
  593. "This is the end." I spoke emotionlessly, the prospect of my own death had left me emotionally numb.
  594.
  595. "Unfortunately." She replied, nearly as matter-of-factly as I. We looked too into eachother's eyes, our demise looming over us. We embraced passionately, and for the first time, locked lips. Our eyes remained closed for the entire ordeal. Once we had released our emotions, we couldn't stop. We continued to kiss and hug. I whispered that I loved her in my ear. She nibbled on mine. When we only pulled away when the massive iron door protecting the dungeon crashed loudly as it fell down the stairs. I looked to Twilight one last time, reminiscing of the short, but wonderful time I had together with her. The emotions I felt were overwhelming, and I couldn't have been happier. I closed my eyes to kiss her once again.
  596. My kiss was returned and everything I had ever done came to mind. All of the deaths I had caused, all of the deeds I had committed, the words I had spoken, the relationships I had made in the pony world, and all that I had left unfinished.
  597.
  598. This was the time of our reckoning and we both knew it. I heard the changeling footsteps as they scurried down the stairs. I looked over and saw the shadows of the hive on the wall as they made their way to their meal. I returned my eyes to Twilight one last time, so that I may die with her image in my mind. When I turned to look, I did not find Twilight, but rather Queen Chrysalis, who delivered onto me a kiss. My world faded into darkness as the Queen sucked the very life out of me.
