Hello Satoshi,

I just read your paper on bitcoin, good stuff.. I need to work more on it to crack it open.

Anyway, I want to know more about the proof of work. I undertand the blocks, block chain, hashes/encryption, how difficulty can be augmented with 0 bits

at the start, etc..

But, proof of work.. Can it be anything? Do the other nodes need to know the answer to the problems solved by one computer as proof of work?

Bitcoin is ok, but it could be something much, much better. Harnessing all that computational power and electricity to do some actual good stuff and at the

same time keep the contributors motivated to keep going offering them a reward, while maintaining the good stuff of bitcoin aka: anonymity, decentralized

network, etc..
