Your name is Ambient (Amber), you're unicorn with a film reel for a cutie mark, indicative of your skills as a photographer, which led you to becoming a world renowned photographer, reporter and journalist. Your name is celebrated all throughout the field and you have more money than you know what to do with, so you just sit on it while you live with your special somepone, Derpy, until you decide what to do with it all. You're perfectly content living the way you are in Ponyville.

Unlike most busy days of scheduling interviews, exclusive photo shoots, and distributing your stories all throughout Equestria, today was Saturday, and you weren't expecting to do much at all today but sleep in. Which is exactly what you were doing until Derpy started jumping up and down on the bed you share in her house at around 12 pm to wake you up. "Amber! Amber! Amber! Wake up! Wake up! You gotta come see this! Rainbow Dash is gonna attempt the Sonic Rainboom again! The wonderbolts are here and everything!" This immediately caused you to jolt your body off the bed. No one's ever been able to get pictures of a Sonic Rainboom before! You look into the mirror hanging on the door opposite you, and see how your hair is in a giant tangled up poof, more so than most mornings. You lick your teeth and breathe into your hoof while you stretch your limbs. Disgusted by your own morning breathe as usual, at least you can still taste Derpy in your mouth, which isn't necessarily a bad thing to you.

"Alright alright Derpy, we can head there to watch together in a bit!" you tell her while giggling at her hopping. "I need to brush my teeth first, and would you mind doing my hair for me..? I'm not particularly good at it that kinda stuff.." Derpy nods her head and quickly replies, "Of course I can! Lemme go get my stuff though!" She trots off to fetch her saddle pack from the living room as you make your way to the bathroom. You make a face at yourself in the mirror before using your magic on the mirror to open it. At this same moment you hear a loud crack from outside followed by an earth shaking tremor. A flash of colorful light blinds you as you feel the magic in your horn start increasing at rates you never thought were possible. You let out a loud yelp as you lose your footing and fall onto your back, your horn emitting sparks as the mirror rips off its hinges and slams across the other side of the bathroom. You hear various hygiene supplies roll from your now door-less cabinet along with Derpy's voice screaming out to you from the living room "AMBER, ARE YOU OKAY?!" . You try to break off your magic letting go of the mirror an dropping it to the floor. You wince expecting it to shatter. You don't hear it shatter though so you slowly open your eyes to see mirror on the floor rippling as if it were a liquid. You feel the tremors fade away as you hear Derpy calling out to you again, "AMBER!"

You look at the mirror oddly as the surface stops rippling. You feel your horn sparking with magic, which kind of stings. You put your hooves on your horn, rubbing it a bit to check to see if it's fine. You back out the bathroom and start to walk back to Derpy, "Yeah.. I'm fine.. but I think you're going to need a new mirror.." You turn to look at Derpy who trying to get her balance back in the living room. The pillows, magazines, lamps and kitchen supplies have been thrown about the house however, leaving it to be quiet a mess. She turns back to you and asks "Why, what happened? Did it break?" You shake your head with a concerned look. "I'm not sure.. we should probably go get someone to look at it though.." Still being shook up from the Sonic Rainboom, you're having trouble figuring out a course of action. Through the silence you hear Rainbow Dash, right outside your house, "Did you guys SEE that?! That was so totally AAWWWESOME!" along with some chatter right outside your house.

"Um Derpy, could you go and get Twilight for me? I'm not really sure what's going on, so she seems a good pony to ask. I'd go but... is my horn still sparking? I think it's best if I just stay here and don't make any sudden movements. It's probably nothing to worry about, but I'm not really an expert on unicorn magic." Derpy blinks at your for a few seconds before replying, "Yeah.. yeah I can do that, don't worry. I'm on it!" She pecks a kiss on your forehead before flying out the door.

You wait there for a while now trying to stay perfectly still, sitting down in the hallway. About 15 minutes later you see Twilight poking her head into her house "Amber, you there? Derpy told me you needed help." You call her in saying, "Yeah I'm okay.. I think. Something weird happened though that I think you should look at." Twilight trots in and look at you on the floor. "Derpy said something was wrong with your magic. Your horns looks fine, but I see some sparking from it. Have you been using any powerful spells recently?" You shake your head while looking at the floor in thought. "The only spell I've used today was the basic telekinesis spell on the cabinet mirror in the bathroom in order to open it.." you hear Twilight "Oh gosh, your breathe.." while she backs up from you trying to be subtle about it, you continue anyway "and when Rainbow Dash did her Sonic Rainboom, the mirror ripped off it's hinges and fell to the ground." Twilight ears perk up "So that's what that was. Oh for goodness sake, how could I of forgotten Rainbow Dash's performance today!" She shakes her head back and fourth with her hoof against her forehead. "Anyway, so what seems to be the problem then? A broken mirror in the bathroom?" You shake your head and talk under your breathe just loud enough for her to hear "No.. the problem is that it didn't break. It just.. rippled.. like water" Twilight looks at you funny for a second "That can't be true. Let me have a look, I'm sure you were just shook up was all." You turn your head to follow her as she trots into the bathroom to look at the mirror. From the hallway you can hear her "oh no no no no no no no, this is NOT something you're capable of doing."

Your curiosity has reached it's peak at this point and you can't resist trotting in after Twilight but not before grabbing you camera. You look at her poking her hoof in and out of the surface of the mirror causing it to ripple again. You snap a picture with the flash off so she doesn't notice. "So.. what's it mean?" Twilight turns to you with a worried look, "Trust me if I tried explaining this to you, you wouldn't understand. In laypony's terms, the Sonic Rainboom must of amplified your magic to a level well beyond Princess Celestia's. There's records of Star Swirl the Bearded experimenting with spells of this caliber, to open doors to different dimensions, but you couldn't of done that.. how close were you to the Sonic Rainboom again?" You see her constantly poking it back and fourth making the mirror's surface ripple several times. "Well.. from the sound of it all, I'd say it happened right next to my house.. wait what do you mean door to-" Twilight looks about ready to freak out "We should do something about. We should definitely do something about this. I-I-I need to get Princess Celestia!" You see Twilight's horn shine bright leaving a bright flash after disappearing. It seems she teleported away. You carefully approach the mirror on the floor to get a better view. It seems to be a reflection of your bathroom, but when you look into it you don't see yourself inside. You poke the mirror a few times like Twilight does and you watch the surface ripple.

Having no clue where Twilight went or when she'll come back, you figure a little experiment couldn't hurt anypone. You trot to your bedroom passing by Derpy "Stay there Derpy, I'm gonna try something real quick." Derpy Replies, "Uhm.. okay.. just be safe." You grab a piece of paper and pen and scribble down a greeting.
"Hey there! I'm not sure if anyone will read this, but if you do, please reply with a letter in return about how it's like on the other side.
Love,
Amber"

You make your way back to the mirror, throwing it inside at an angle. You wait a moment before seeing a reply thrown back at you through the mirror.
You open it up and read it.
"Go fuck yourself ya cunt. I'm not in the mood to put up with your retarded bull shit so take it somewhere else.
Go away,
Amber"

you blink for a moment not having any clue how to react to what you just read.

You decide to poke your camera inside to take a quick Polaroid snap shot. You quickly pull it out the second took the picture and started waving the photo waiting for it to develop.

You take a look at it and see it's just a picture of yourself, looks exactly like you, except making a sort of snarl, showing disgust and confusion.

after reading the note you decide to drop it on the floor and run out of the bathroom in fear, shutting the door firmly behind yourself. You turn to face Derpy and tell her, "Derpy, if another me appears today, and you are forced to throw one of us down a cliff, ask us what kind of muffin you like the most. I am the one saying: "Cherrychanga-muffins"" Derpy looks at you confused for a while but doesn't really question what you just said "Yeah sure thing Amber!" You hear another loud crack as you hear Twilight and Celestia teleport into your bathroom. You hear Twilight call your name, "Amber! Come in here!" You open the door again to see Twilight hovering the note you received from the other side of the mirror. "I really hope you don't use this sort of language" You stutter out a response "N-n-no! That was from the other side of the mirror! We were passing notes you see.." Celestia looks down into the mirror herself "Well then, this doesn't look good at all." You see Celestia poke the mirrors surface herself causing it to ripple before turning to you "How did you get a note inside here now dear?" You pause for a moment wondering what she meant by that question ".. I just.. threw it inside." You look down at Celestia's hoof and notice that while she's poking the surface causing it to ripple, she's not actually passing through it like you were able to when you stuck your camera in. Celestia turns to Twilight to speak to her, "You were right about the dimensional rift Twilight. Whatever magic was used to open this door, disturbed whatever dimension was on the other side. I'm afraid I don't have the power to close this door, not alone at least. It'd require the combined powers of the Celestia on the other side of this portal." Twilight responds to Celestia, "What about Princess Luna?", Celestia shakes her head "Twilight, you should know that our magic is only at full strength during our respective time of rule. Luna can't cast such powerful magic in the day." Twilight replies a bit disappointed in her own lack of knowledge on the subject "Right..." Twilight looks down on the floor and also sees the Polaroid you took of the other dimension. "Amber? Would it be safe to assume that this is a picture of yourself from the other Dimension?" You uneasily nod your head. "and how did you take this picture" your voice tightening up while you reply "I stuck my camera inside and took a picture.." finally the question you were dreading the most while listening to this conversation "So you were able actually go inside the mirror..?"

You nervously gulp before responding "Y-yeah.." Princess Celestia nods to Twilight. "Well it seems that because you and the Amber on the other side of the mirror were the ones responsible for opening the door, it seems the two casters are the only ones who are able to interact with the door." Twilight tries tossing the note she picked up off the floor back into the portal, only to see if bounce off and back onto the floor, leaving ripples on the surface. "You're saying I have to go through this rift, to a potentialy hostile mirror universe, seek an audience with an alternate universe Princess Celestia; one whom evidence suggests may be cruel and vindictive, drag her to this mirror and then get her to work in sync with ours to close a magical hole which is 'disturbing' the attached universes...? While that is certainly the kind of journalism I am normally in favour of can't we just... you know... throw a rug over it." Celestia solemnly shakes her head, "I'm afraid not. To put it simply, now that the two separate dimensions are now aware of each others existence through this door, they will attempt to meet molecular equilibrium. This isn't an immediate process, but both theirs and our universe will slowly break apart to meet said equilibrium, and because the dimensions are opposites, the only equilibrium that can be reached is total nothingness. I'd say it'd take a good year or so for it to reach this equilibrium, but I can sense the effects have already started..." You look tot h ground for a moment before replying "So this is the kind of 'disturb' that leads to the destruction of Equestria... Right, Derpy knows the password. Bake me a Muffin, I'll be back for breakfast." Twilight looking sorry as she says "I really wish things didn't have to be this way..." Derpy walks up to you and gives you your saddle pack, "I overheard the whole conversation. I know what you have to do... I packed your favorite muffins inside though!" You thank her as she set the saddle pack on your back before she pulls you in close and presses her lips tightly against yours before saying "I love you Amber, so be safe now" you reply to her "Of course I'll be safe. I love you too Derpy." You're blushing a bit red now seeing how that was right in front of Twilight and Celestia. "Alright, so do I just... hop in?" Celestia replies "Well, it seems like it. Whenever you're ready Amber. Sooner better than later though."

You double check before leaving that your saddle pack has everything you need in it.(muffins, water, Towel, camera, quill, notepad). Seems like you're good to go. You nod to Princess Celestia and Twilight as look towards Derpy. You wink at her before you leave "Don't worry, I'll be fine!" You hop inside the portal and you get a strong case of vertigo as your whole world feels like it was just turned upside down. Having fallen out of the portal onto the other side you see yourself unaccompanied by an alternate Twilight and Celestia. Your other self confronts you the second she sees you "I told you to stay the hell out of here! The last thing I need is some pussy ass pony coming in and fucking up my image!" She stomps her foot down "You turn around and head right on out of here back to where you came from you little worthless pile of shit!"

You take a deep breathe and put your hoof down, "Look Amber, I don't have time for this right now. I've got to save Equestria, and unless I do there won't be anypone left to care about your image. So step up or step down, but get out of my way!"

You notice the alternate you stepping back a bit and the tone of her voice growing weaker. "Y-you think I care what happens to Equestria?! I don't need to take this from a whimp like you. I'm not moving until you go back w-where you came from..!"

You notice that the more aggressive you become, the more passive she reacts, alright Amber. You gotta crank up the aggression here. You take a deep breathe and stomp your hoof down "You better back down and get your face out of my fucking sight before I ram you through the wall. I swear to Celestia, YOU WILL REGRET THE DAY YOU CROSS HOOVES WITH ME!" The alternate version of yourself is backing down with her head low as you see you managed to make her piss herself. "I-I'm s-sorry, I'll get out of your way now." She sinks away from you giving you a clear exit for the door. You gallop down the hallway passing by Derpy who's sitting on the couch. A glazed look appears over her eyes, completely uncaring about anything that just happened in her house, she doesn't say a word and simply sits there doing nothing.

Thank god that turned out easy. You gallop your way down to Twilight's house is and immediately start knocking on her door. You see Twilight open her door with her hooves, "Oh look, a piece of trash just came over and knocked on my door. What the honest fuck do you want me from me Amber?" you clear your throat standing up with confidence, you explain to her the situation hoping she can help you. "First off, who the fuck gave you the idea that I give two damns whether Equestria exists or not. Hell, universe would be better with out all these god forsaken bastards existing. And how do you expect me to know this Princess Celestia. I'm not her pupil, and hell if I even know who is. Are you fucking blind or something? Don't you see my cutie mark? I couldn't cast a spell if I tried. Besides, magic is for the weak."

You wanted to ask Twilight more about Celestia but she slammed her door before you could do so. Sees like you're stuck if you can't find another lead. Luckily, this is your specialty. You think about all the people you've ever met or even heard about and their personalities which would be flipped in this universe. Dragons are known to be some of the nastiest creatures in all of Equestria, but they're much to far away to reach in such a short notice. That one show-off, Trixie might be of some help but Celestia knows where she is. It suddenly clicks that Applejack in your universe if the element of Honesty, so the opposite must be true here.

After a couple minutes of galloping past arguing ponies, you arrive where you'd normally find Sweet Apple Acres. Instead, you just see fields of manure emitting smells of death where there would be Apple Trees. You knock on the door to the Barn for it to be answered by Apple Jack. You ask her "Hey are you Applejack?", she fluidly responds back "no, I'm her great aunt Berta risen up from the grave." Bingo! Just as you thought! "So.. what do you do around here..?" She looks down to her hooves scraping dirt out of them "What does it look like? We grow and harvest apples here, genius." You look around and see nothing but manure.

You try to pick your words carefully when it comes to your questions, "What can I do to avoid finding Princess Celestia?" Apple jack looks at you with a vacant glare "Oh so you're trying to avoid the great and powerful Princess Celestia? How bout you high tail it outa Ponyville and head up the richest place in all of Equestria. Canterlot's your best bet if you're tryna hide from that loving beauty of a mare and her sister." Applejack gives you a cocky grin thinking she's really screwing you over here.

After spending some time thinking about it, you'd figure that this universe's Discord or better put Harmony, would be the most helpful of all creatures in a universe where everyone's personalities flipped. If he's frozen in stone here like he is in your universe though, it's going to be quite a challenge to get a hold of him. If you recall correctly though, it was the discord of the 3 little ponies known as the Cutie Mark Crusaders that were able to break him free. The chances you could get any pony acting kind in this universe though seem slim to none however... and with the elements of discord existing, it's going to be a task to keep him around for as long as you need him. You briefly consider resorting to find another species in Equestria that display discord in your universe, but the amount of magic it would take to teleport there and back WITH group of creatures, would easily drain you of all your magic for the rest of the day.

Looks like you got as much information out of Applejack as you could want at the moment and she doesn't seem to have the patience for you. She snickers saying "I hope you have a good time now." before slamming the door on your face. It's already decided in your head, you need to free Harmony. Such a task however, would require stealing the elements of discord, which you can't do with out breaking into their safe with Celestia's horn, who surely won't willingly help you. When things get desperate though, drastic measures must be taken. Your horn shines bright blue as you use up half your magic to transport yourself to the Draconian Lava Mountains . Where in your universe, only the foulest creatures may roam. Already at the peak of the main mountain, you peek over the outer ridge to the center of the volcano while hordes of dragons fly overhead. You see teenager dragons gleefully playing games of tag and hide and seek. You can hear the giggling from here.

You start to step over the ridges of the volcano as you peer down towards the teenage dragons. They spot you out as a pony and immediately hide in fear from you behind the large rocks jutting out from the mountains. You need to show that you're peaceful so you lift the towel out of your bag and tie it to a nearby dead branch. You wave it back and fourth in the sky to show that you mean them no harm, but before the teenage dragons could see it, 3 of the largest Dragons you've ever laid eyes on stomp down in front of you. Your jaw drops as you use your magic to take pictures of them with your camera without them noticing. You hear their deep loud voices bellow. "If you came up here all this way to pick a fight with our younglings, you will have to get through us first. We may not fight you but we will defend them to death."

You kneel down to the 3 elder dragons.
"Noble Dragon, I apologize for any distress I caused yourself and your wyrmlings. I assure I come to you with naught but noble intentions and I beseach you to accept these muffins, given to me by my special some pony, made with love, as a token of my sincerity.

I am afraid that I must inform you that we are all in grave danger. This universe has become entangled with one of equal magnitude but opposite in most every regard. I would request any help you can render in severing the connection and saving our dimensions, our loved ones, and your children from sure and certain obliteration. "

You use your magic to bring the muffins up to the Dragon's mouths who are at least 10 times your size. They glare at the muffins questioning whether or not they are poisoned, before the leader of the group eats the muffin whole. The two dragons by his side follow suit.

You hear their voices once more, but this time softer yet just as loud "There certainly is love inside these baked goods. Something magical which is unattainable to the ponies we've become familiar with. Tell us pony, where do you hail from?"

"I'm from Ponyville, but not the same Ponyville of which you're familiar with. The ponyville I come from exists in a separate dimension filled with harmony. However, powerful magic created the connection between these two dimensions which are what's destroying them. We alone don't have the a pony with Magical powers strong enough to severe the connection, and not until we retrieve a creature from your dimension that can match the same power as our Celestia, can we seal the door between our worlds" The dragons respond in unison "And who did you have in mind for such a job?' You clear your throat making sure you continue speaking with confidence. "In my world he is known as Discord. In yours though, he's known as Harmony." The dragon's eyes open wind "Aahh yes.. Harmony, a creature of benevolence who brought all of Equestria peace and tranquility. Only to be sealed away by those despicable ponies using the elements of discord to turn him to stone... and just how exactly did you plan on breaking the seal?"

"In our universe the passing of the elements of Harmony from princess Celestia to a new generation of ponies created a crack in his stone prison, one which disharmony, perpetrated in front of him, broke the seal that that turned him to stone.
I believe acts of concordance performed infront of the statue of harmony would be enough to free him. However he would still be weak against an attack from the elements of discord." You gulp nervously as you realize what must be done. "and to prevent the elements of discord from being used against Harmony, we need to steal them from the vault. A vault which only Celestia's horn can open.. and there's no way we can do that with out... force.."

The dragon's contemplate the use of violence that you've presented them as a solution. "We are a peaceful nomadic species that lives off the fruits of the earth. Given the situation, and what you've proven to use, then it seems like there's no other way. We will descend upon Ponyville to carry out your tasks. Attempting to release Harmony has been on the back of our minds, but attempting to do so would call for violence which we're not capable of, however, it seems we don't have much of a choice anymore."

You figure out the specific plan in your head as you tell it to the dragons, "A celebration of life can be held where Harmony is sealed, this can be done by the younglings However, your adult dragons must protect the them by forming a wall. Back in Ponyville, it seems everypone is active and hostile, so it's the only way.." The dragon in front of you addds on "The two Princesses have been fighting with each other constantly for the past 1000 years, she should be weak and easy for a dragon to over power and use her horn to open the door" You nod your head agreeing "Then it sounds like we have a plan.."

"We'll split up into groups of two. We'll need 3 adults dragons to subdue the Princess and open the vault to retrieve the elements of Discord, and 10 to create a barricade around the party we'll be throwing in front Harmony. With any luck, we can save both our dimensions."

The dragons nod as they breathe fire into the air calling upon their brethren. You watch as 7 adult dragons come swooping down behind them and discuss the situation and the plan.

An hour later, you're up in the air, riding on the back of the first division to head out in front of Harmony's statue beside Canterlot's castle with the teenage dragons trailing behind. The other division heading out to the Castle to retrieve the elements of discord with the new information on how to get inside the vault.

The 10 adult dragons stomp down on the earth, shaking the ground as all the arguing and fighting ponies surrounding the statue how their ground. In this moment only, the dragons laid their first attack as they breathed fire on the land in front of them, scaring the Ponies back away from the statue of Harmony. The dragon's secured the perimeter as you hear the roars of the dragons in the castle fighting Celestia in the distance.

The younglings kept in ignorance of the plans around them were told and shown nothing more than the party they are to have in Canterlot. Before they were signaled in to the perimeter, you used your past experiences to put together a party that would make would make Pinkie Pie proud. The teenage dragon's got into the joyous party, playing games. laughing, and sharing snacks and drinks. You watched as it reminded you of the surprise party Pinkie Pie threw for you. You felt almost nostalgic as the world you grew up in seems all too distant from this dimensions filled with chaos. You took your camera out and took several pictures of the party around you, not for a story, but to immortalize your memories here, with the help of the great and powerful dragons. There's no time for this now. While the teenage dragons my party, you hear the noise from the perimeter of the attacking ponies who are trying to tear down their intruders using magic and the brute force of Pegasi. You rush to the front lines with the dragon's and try to use your telekinesis to place down the projectiles of the opposing unicorns.. some of these unicorns you recognize as your friends.. it stings terribly to see them fighting against you.

You my not be a warrior, but you put every ounce of effort you can to help the dragon's who are tanking the hits of the chaotic ponies. You want to take more photos, but that's not what you're here for, not now at least. You see three dragon's fly down from above holding a chest. You turn around and gallop towards them awaiting their news. "She put up a fight, but we managed to subdue her and retrieve elements of discord. We may not of done it our way, but it seems in such a desire situation we hadn't any other choice." They open the chest revealing the elements of discord. Each their own shade of black, looking like gems that could of be formed in the very depths of hell. You take this moment to apologize,"I... am sorry. The full weight of what I asked of you was not apparent to me. In truth it may never be fully apparent to me. However, I can ensure all history knows of the sacrifice you made this day. That it echos through the history of my world. That everypone knows the weight you bore to save two worlds. It is not much, but it is all I have to give."

The dragons acknowledge and accept your apology by placing the chest in front of you and bowing down their heads. You pick the elements of discord from the chest an send them to your saddle pack, and at the same time you hear a soft warm yet loud chuckling, "I'm finally back.." You hear Harmony snap his fingers as you turn around to face him. The dragon's flames turn to nothing but air, as the attacking ponies horns and wings disappear and their legs become entangled in flowery vines. Harmony was clearly able to distinguish you from the other ponies as he swoops down in front of you and gently lifts your chin up to look him in the eyes. You hear his soothing warm voice speak to you "You are nothing like the rest of your species little pony.. I've been watching the world around me, I've been watching you, and the plan you've organized, but I'm only very truly baffled about the nature of your actions.."

You clear your throat trying to appease Harmony in the humblest of manners.
"I am neither noble nor virtuous, Harmony, I simply sought a way to save myself, my home and those I love... I am motivated by selfishness as much as selflessness. I do not know you, but I know what you represent. You are my only hope. If my actions this day ensure your world continues to exist it is the lesser task, for it is now your world to save. Just remeber that as the taint of lesser motivation resides within my soul, a spark of goodness burns within these ponies. And that a spark may become a blaze." Harmony places his finger your lips to show that you need not say any more. "Oh sweet pony, you need not say anymore. Your motivations are clear as day, and I can feel your heart is in the right place. I will assist, it's the least I can do for the Pony that insured my permanent stay. Whatever the task, as long as it's true to my nature, I shall do."

You explain to Harmony all of the events that transpired until this very moment, making sure to fill him on every detail possible. "Well then Amber, if you're ready then I am as well." The elder dragon's approach you before you leave to speak to you, "Before you leave, we accepted your apology, so it's only right that we show you our appreciation. While we might of not of done things our way, we couldn't of done it with out your help. We all wish you peace and prosperity on the other side of the portal." You reply,"I will take those words with me, and hold onto them for the rest of my life. But now, we must part ways.. may your future be filled with peace and tranquility... Alright Harmony, I'm ready, let's go."
