  3. 2) Above is a graph depicting all the actual invoice information from the August 2012 to February 2014. As you can see there was a spike in the cost of hosting services at Rackspace starting in October 2012. After checking the numbers against Quantcast it is clear that a past rise in traffic may have led to an over-aggressive stance in terms of being prepared for traffic. We feel that you can cut back significantly on some of these costs. Please read on to learn more about your current model versus where you potentially could be. You can safely cut costs and still have the stamina to maintain current and future traffic, even with major growth.

  6.
  7. Above is the Server Network Topology as it exists today. There are: 4 Web Servers, 2 Database Servers, 1 staging server, and 4 Development Servers. This is overkill and many of these servers are not needed to handle to demands of the Grandparents.com user base.

  9. 4) Proposed Network Topology:
  10.
  11. In this diagram, we have proposed a new architecture for the Grandparents.com Network Topology. As you can see, we have cut the amount of Web Servers in half as well as the amount of Databases. While we should test the situation with one Database we feel very confident about only having two Web Servers in place. It also appears that most of the Development Servers are not in use at all. We can safely eliminate 75% of them. The total reduction is infrastructure in this model is 45%+.
