  1. [2012-11-21 17:16:45] <Falconis> Very well
  2. [2012-11-21 17:17:03] <Falconis> Grail session: logging begin
  3. [2012-11-21 17:17:16] <Falconis> WHEN WE LAST SAW OUR *cough* HERO
  4. [2012-11-21 17:18:18] <Falconis> He filled the air with the scent of coconut as he acquired goods for his...work and made a few orders
  5. [2012-11-21 17:19:22] <Falconis> You are in the rich part of town, outside the home/workplace of the personal tailor of the crow family whom you have placed an order with
  6. [2012-11-21 17:20:01] <Falconis> It is still rather early in the day, the sun not yet having made it's trip to the top of the sky
  7. [2012-11-21 17:20:10] <Falconis> what shall you do with this day? >_
  8. [2012-11-21 17:22:45] <Grail> Hum, what was on my shopping list.
  9. [2012-11-21 17:24:41] <Falconis> well, you bought some knockout liquid, a stick/laxative, ordered stealth gear from that guy
  10. [2012-11-21 17:25:05] <Falconis> and you said something about wanting things for the refugees
  11. [2012-11-21 17:25:52] <Grail> Hadrian stretches and continues his walk, now he remembers
  12. [2012-11-21 17:26:12] <Grail> He needs a good base from which to sell the goods he planned on buying
  13. [2012-11-21 17:26:39] <Grail> Something in the poorer districts, where the refugees will congregate, close to the city entrances.
  14. [2012-11-21 17:27:11] <Grail> And of course a place he can life for the interim time, can't have cousin kicking him out with no place to go.
  15. [2012-11-21 17:29:25] <Falconis> Alright, so heading there then?
  16. [2012-11-21 17:30:19] <Grail> No, I plan to send a pigeon and stand here all day
  17. [2012-11-21 17:31:44] <Grail> Yes of course he's walking, Hadrian gets more and more comfortable on the way. He's familiar with the grimy parts of a city, though the coconut smell is messing up his game a little I imagine.
  18. [2012-11-21 17:33:59] <Falconis> poor pigeon, it can't feed it's family with no work
  19. [2012-11-21 17:34:02] <Falconis> Alright, you head out of the rich areas and make your way through town, following the main road to the edge
  20. [2012-11-21 17:38:28] <Falconis> It's not as loud here, and the foot traffic is noticeably less. The residences thin out and only a few small shops are here, including a small cobbler and sons, it's viewing shelves stocked with waterskins and things for travel. Two guards, wearing different shades of blue stand by the roads end
  21. [2012-11-21 17:39:00] <Falconis> or roads start, if you want to look at it that way
  22. [2012-11-21 17:39:13] <Grail> First thing
  23. [2012-11-21 17:39:25] <Grail> Look around for buildings, see if any are empty or otherwise vacant
  24. [2012-11-21 17:39:43] <Grail> See if anyone is selling those, if not ask the guards about real estate
  25. [2012-11-21 17:43:05] <Falconis> Almost immediately you find a man who wants to sell, he introduces himself as Jod, a cobbler who wants to move to minerva
  26. [2012-11-21 17:44:18] <Grail> Sucker
  27. [2012-11-21 17:44:31] <Grail> What's his property look like?
  28. [2012-11-21 17:44:34] <Falconis> His home is a compact 2 room affair made out of wood. You see signs of it having been whitewashed at some point in time, but that time was not recent
  29. [2012-11-21 17:45:01] <Grail> "What's your price, Jod?"
  30. [2012-11-21 17:45:03] <Falconis> It certainly seems intact, if a bit messy
  31. [2012-11-21 17:46:11] <Falconis> Jod scratches the back of his neck and rubs the bottom of his shirt
  32. [2012-11-21 17:46:42] <Falconis> [Jod]"Uhh, 3 thousand."
  33. [2012-11-21 17:47:12] <Falconis> It sounds a bit much, but then again, you didn't pay rent where you used to live
  34. [2012-11-21 17:47:19] <Falconis> or own the place
  35. [2012-11-21 17:47:59] <Grail> "No, no, no." Hadrian brings himself up to his full height, for negotation purposes (it's totally not intimidation)
  36. [2012-11-21 17:49:07] <Grail> "This place is a mess. A thousand five hundred gold pieces, right now. Money in your hand."
  37. [2012-11-21 17:49:15] <Falconis> Jod flinches a bit and takes a step back
  38. [2012-11-21 17:50:42] <Falconis> [Jod]"Uhh, I" he fumbles with his words a bit, looking a bit worried, then he sighs "Ok, sounds fair"
  39. [2012-11-21 17:51:08] <Falconis> He looks up at you
  40. [2012-11-21 17:51:47] <Grail> "Where's the deed?"
  41. [2012-11-21 17:51:58] <Grail> "Keys."
  42. [2012-11-21 17:52:01] <Falconis> "Oh, uhh, right"
  43. [2012-11-21 17:52:23] <Grail> Hadrian has his palm outstretched in a 'gimme' motion
  44. [2012-11-21 17:53:00] <Falconis> He turns around and walks over to a spot by the wall. He moves a lose floorboard and takes out a small cast Iron chest.
  45. [2012-11-21 17:53:54] <Falconis> He fumbles in his pockets for a ring of three keys and selects an old iron key and slides it into the chest
  46. [2012-11-21 17:55:02] <Falconis> he opens it and removes a rolled up grimy piece of parchment and locks the chest. He takes up the lot and returns to you
  47. [2012-11-21 17:55:32] <Grail> Examine it
  48. [2012-11-21 17:55:44] <Grail> If it checks out hand him his money and wave him off
  49. [2012-11-21 17:55:48] <Falconis> [Jod]"Sorry, first time selling and all, I, uhh, It'll take me a few hours to pack up but the place is yours as soon as you pay"
  50. [2012-11-21 17:55:52] <Falconis> it does
  51. [2012-11-21 17:56:40] <Grail> "Good, good. I'll be back in four hours, have a pleasant trip, hope you do well in Minerva."
  52. [2012-11-21 17:56:49] <Falconis> he takes the money and dumps it into the chest and gets out of your way.
  53. [2012-11-21 17:57:00] <Falconis> he nods with a smile
  54. [2012-11-21 17:57:01] <Grail> Hadrian pockets his key and deed
  55. [2012-11-21 17:57:44] <Falconis> transaction complete
  56. [2012-11-21 17:57:44] <Grail> To speed the process up can we just say he finds and hires an architect/carpenter for ??? gold to fix up this place to look like a decent shop?
  57. [2012-11-21 17:58:25] <Falconis> 100 gold a day, says it'll take around 2 weeks
  58. [2012-11-21 17:58:54] <Falconis> be done faster if you are willing to hire more people
  59. [2012-11-21 17:59:06] <Falconis> which he knows and can contact for you
  60. [2012-11-21 18:00:19] <Falconis> that good?
  61. [2012-11-21 18:01:09] <Falconis> this is your average builder
  62. [2012-11-21 18:01:59] <Grail> Dandy, hire as many as required to complete the project in three days.
  63. [2012-11-21 18:02:25] <Falconis> ...how did I know you were going to say that
  64. [2012-11-21 18:02:35] <Grail> Because reasons
  65. [2012-11-21 18:03:15] <Falconis> yea that's gonna be 5 people at 100 per day for three days, = 1500
  66. [2012-11-21 18:03:38] <Falconis> when it's done it's gonna look nice at least
  67. [2012-11-21 18:04:50] <Grail> Good enough
  68. [2012-11-21 18:04:53] <Falconis> so, what are you up to next?
  69. [2012-11-21 18:05:13] <Grail> Testing that hourglass
  70. [2012-11-21 18:05:17] <Grail> Hadrian is curious
  71. [2012-11-21 18:05:44] <Grail> Hrm, wait no
  72. [2012-11-21 18:05:53] <Grail> Might take an hour
  73. [2012-11-21 18:06:01] <Grail> Investigate the antique shop
  74. [2012-11-21 18:06:09] <Grail> Look around at the goods
  75. [2012-11-21 18:06:15] <Grail> Opportunities for robbery
  76. [2012-11-21 18:06:38] <Falconis> The antique shop
  77. [2012-11-21 18:06:44] <Falconis> and old friend
  78. [2012-11-21 18:06:47] <Falconis> an*
  79. [2012-11-21 18:07:53] <Grail> Entry, exit points
  80. [2012-11-21 18:07:59] <Falconis> single door
  81. [2012-11-21 18:08:02] <Falconis> front
  82. [2012-11-21 18:08:10] <Grail> Browse the goods
  83. [2012-11-21 18:08:23] <Grail> What's it look like I could grab in a single night?
  84. [2012-11-21 18:08:28] <Grail> No cart
  85. [2012-11-21 18:08:38] <Falconis> When you go in, the old man sits behind the counter, working on something fiddly
  86. [2012-11-21 18:08:48] <Falconis> under that category, a lot
  87. [2012-11-21 18:09:47] <Falconis> There are many small items here, dolls, jars, clay figurines from all over, things like that
  88. [2012-11-21 18:10:05] <Falconis> the largest thing would probably be a chair
  89. [2012-11-21 18:10:23] <Grail> ...Never stolen a chair before-nah too hefty
  90. [2012-11-21 18:10:37] <Grail> Hadrian tries to get a look at what the man is working on
  91. [2012-11-21 18:10:42] <Grail> Is it plot?
  92. [2012-11-21 18:10:46] <Grail> Is he working on plot?
  93. [2012-11-21 18:10:47] <Falconis> There are musical instruments, books, ironbound torches, toys, dolls, eating things
  94. [2012-11-21 18:11:10] <Falconis> plot is everywhere
  95. [2012-11-21 18:12:14] <Falconis> The old man is working on a small, round device that looks...comlicated
  96. [2012-11-21 18:12:18] <Falconis> complicated
  97. [2012-11-21 18:12:41] <Grail> "What's that?"
  98. [2012-11-21 18:14:11] <Falconis> The old man looks up at you, finally. His face is wrinkled and worn, he looks tired, old and tired. He wears glasses with thin iron rims
  99. [2012-11-21 18:14:21] <Falconis> [old]"Time."
  100. [2012-11-21 18:15:09] <Falconis> [old]"The present and the future. Past is a myth"
  101. [2012-11-21 18:15:25] <Falconis> He continues to tinker while looking up at you
  102. [2012-11-21 18:16:10] <Grail> "Ahuh, so is it like a clock?"
  103. [2012-11-21 18:16:46] <Falconis> [old]"suppose"
  104. [2012-11-21 18:17:45] <Falconis> [old]"What's your soul like"
  105. [2012-11-21 18:18:39] <Falconis> he peers at you through the glasses
  106. [2012-11-21 18:18:43] <Grail> "Dunno. Soul-y? Intangible?"
  107. [2012-11-21 18:19:33] <Falconis> [old]"Hrm, no, got enough of that. So what, you come to buy somethin'?"
  108. [2012-11-21 18:19:54] <Grail> "Looking around."
  109. [2012-11-21 18:21:00] <Falconis> He harrumphs and looks back down at his disk clockthing
  110. [2012-11-21 18:21:40] <Falconis> Then he looks back up at you
  111. [2012-11-21 18:22:21] <Falconis> [old]"Hey kid, want a job?"
  112. [2012-11-21 18:22:36] <Grail> "What kind of job?"
  113. [2012-11-21 18:23:41] <Falconis> [old]"Finding. I need some sprites, fire. You know the little ones, you can find them out in the fields. Bring me 3 of em"
  114. [2012-11-21 18:24:24] <Falconis> He nods to a big round jar with the words FIRE painted on the side in big red letters.
  115. [2012-11-21 18:24:47] <Falconis> [old]"You can keep the rest if you want"
  116. [2012-11-21 18:24:57] <Grail> Hadrian is amused by the offer
  117. [2012-11-21 18:24:59] <Grail> Sure
  118. [2012-11-21 18:25:04] <Grail> "Okay."
  119. [2012-11-21 18:25:27] <Falconis> The old man nods and then goes back to his work
  120. [2012-11-21 18:25:33] <Grail> Hey Falc you going to be on long? I need to take a little break
  121. [2012-11-21 18:48:23] [INFO] Now logging to <file:///C:/Users/McCarthy/Documents/Quest/antimatter%20logs/irc.rizon.net/channels/%23anti-matter.2012-11-21.log>.
  122. [2012-11-21 18:49:05] <Falconis> Ok so you take the fire jar and head out of town towards the fields the old man mentioned
  123. [2012-11-21 18:49:08] <Falconis> amirite?
  124. [2012-11-21 18:49:25] -->| Dice_Flake (~Dice_Flak@83914D32.382EFF58.C318AC60.IP) has joined #anti-matter
  125. [2012-11-21 18:49:27] <Grail> Yup
  126. [2012-11-21 18:49:31] <Grail> Walking towards that field
  127. [2012-11-21 18:51:58] <Falconis> alright then, you get there in short order. The fields are a wide expanse of tall grass with one or two trees shooting up. Even with the sun high in the sky, the grass casts enough shadow that you can hear sounds you normally only expect at night, like crickets
  128. [2012-11-21 18:52:43] <Falconis> Little balls of flame, no larger than the tip of your finger, float around just over the grass
  129. [2012-11-21 18:53:22] <Grail> Have I ever seen things like this before?
  130. [2012-11-21 18:53:29] <Falconis> A man in leather gear and carrying a jar under his arm wades around in the grass
  131. [2012-11-21 18:53:35] <PriceisMagic> (Yay! dice bot!)
  132. [2012-11-21 18:53:37] <Falconis> no, but you have heard of it
  133. [2012-11-21 18:53:42] <Grail> What have I heard?
  134. [2012-11-21 18:54:00] <Falconis> in some places, little balls of fire float around the place, weird
  135. [2012-11-21 18:54:31] <Grail> Truly my knowledge of arcane lore is vast and profound.
  136. [2012-11-21 18:54:46] <Grail> "Hey, you, what are these things?"
  137. [2012-11-21 18:54:48] <Falconis> you know about as much as the average guy

  142. [2012-11-21 18:56:24] <Grail> "Nope. What are they?"
  143. [2012-11-21 18:56:30] <Grail> Scoop, scoop, scoop
  144. [2012-11-21 18:56:54] <Falconis> You find it pretty easy to get one in the jar, it casts a flickering light against your hand and feels warm, like a touch, when you come in contact.
  145. [2012-11-21 18:57:02] <Falconis> "Sprites"

  153. [2012-11-21 18:57:54] <Falconis> "You can find em all around the place, some mages like them for unknown reasons"
  154. [2012-11-21 18:58:19] <Grail> "Well that's vague."
  155. [2012-11-21 18:58:19] <Falconis> "You ask me, they play games with em or something"
  156. [2012-11-21 18:58:25] <Falconis> The man shrugs
  157. [2012-11-21 18:58:32] <Falconis> "magic"
  158. [2012-11-21 18:58:39] <Grail> "Mhm"
  159. [2012-11-21 18:58:42] <Falconis> he says in a 'you know what I mean right' tone
  160. [2012-11-21 18:58:51] <Grail> Hadrian tries to scoop as many in as he can
  161. [2012-11-21 18:59:04] <Grail> If he gets to keep the extras...well fuck he doesn't know what he'll do with them
  162. [2012-11-21 18:59:10] <Grail> But they're pretty

  166. [2012-11-21 19:00:32] <Grail> Yay?
  167. [2012-11-21 19:00:39] <Falconis> It's hard to get more in now without letting others fly out
  168. [2012-11-21 19:00:52] <Falconis> It's about midday
  169. [2012-11-21 19:00:52] <Grail> He stops
  170. [2012-11-21 19:01:03] <Grail> "Hey guy, this your job or something?
  171. [2012-11-21 19:01:07] <Falconis> The other guy is still roaming around, stalking sprites
  172. [2012-11-21 19:02:04] <Falconis> [???]"Nah, just an extra income source. They also work pretty good, more reliable than matches."
  173. [2012-11-21 19:02:20] <Falconis> He takes up a sprite in his hand, looks it over, and then blows it away
  174. [2012-11-21 19:02:27] <Falconis> then keeps stalking
  175. [2012-11-21 19:02:34] <Falconis> sec
  176. [2012-11-21 19:06:55] <Grail> You back?
  177. [2012-11-21 19:08:23] <Falconis> back
  178. [2012-11-21 19:09:00] <Falconis> so, what does Sweiss do now
  179. [2012-11-21 19:09:36] <Grail> "You got a name?"
  180. [2012-11-21 19:11:30] <Falconis> "Sure, name's Joker. Strange I know, my parents loved a good laugh"
  181. [2012-11-21 19:12:34] <Falconis> He takes another sprite and scoops it into his jar
  182. [2012-11-21 19:13:17] <Grail> "Well, see you joker."
  183. [2012-11-21 19:13:29] <Grail> Hadrian waks off with his jar
  184. [2012-11-21 19:13:40] <Falconis> He looks at you with a quirked eyebrow, shrugs and then whatever
  185. [2012-11-21 19:13:55] <Falconis> You turn around and walk off, a slightly warm jar of sprites in hand
  186. [2012-11-21 19:16:10] <Falconis> As you approach the town, you see a group of men, about 7 or so, standing on the road, out of sight of the town or anyone else that wasn't looking where you are looking.
  187. [2012-11-21 19:16:34] <Falconis> You are pretty sure these guys are crooks, and that they are waiting on something
  188. [2012-11-21 19:18:39] <Falconis> standing off the road*
  189. [2012-11-21 19:18:45] <Grail> Hadrian tips an imaginary cap to them as he passes
  190. [2012-11-21 19:19:37] <Falconis> The men stare at you as you pass
  191. [2012-11-21 19:20:12] <Falconis> one of them turns to another, nods and the group of them start approaching you
  192. [2012-11-21 19:22:54] <Falconis> They draw up alongside, flanking your left and right and you are pretty sure you can hear one behind you
  193. [2012-11-21 19:23:24] <Grail> "Evening gents."
  194. [2012-11-21 19:25:02] <Falconis> "Evenin mista, fine one it is isn't it" Says a man with what might have been playboy face marred by a scar going across an oft broken nose "Isn't it boys"
  195. [2012-11-21 19:25:23] <Falconis> mumbling and chuckles
  196. [2012-11-21 19:25:43] <Grail> "Sure is."
  197. [2012-11-21 19:25:55] <Falconis> [Scarface]"Comin from the fields eh?" He inquires, pointing with his chin to your jar
  198. [2012-11-21 19:26:19] <Grail> "Might have, might have come from the latrines too."
  199. [2012-11-21 19:28:55] <Falconis> [Scarface]"That's a mighty fine catch for the latrines. It just so happens dat me an my boys here represent the 'league of inquiries into the holdings and wealth and fair exchange of funds to the needy' and we are so obligated to make inquires of those we come across."
  200. [2012-11-21 19:29:10] <Grail> "Phil send you?"
  201. [2012-11-21 19:30:11] <Falconis> The man falters in his delivery for a second and quirks an eyebrow "Phil? Who the hell is Phil?"
  202. [2012-11-21 19:30:55] <Grail> "Don't even know who runs this place? That's a pity, you boys best be off before you find your red spilling out from your necks in the middle of the night."
  203. [2012-11-21 19:32:20] <Falconis> The steps in front of you and stops, poking a finger in your chest
  204. [2012-11-21 19:34:09] <Falconis> [Scarface]"Ey, me an my boys run this place now, I don't know no Phil and I don't care bout no Phil, whoever he is he's gonna have to learn."
  205. [2012-11-21 19:34:28] <Falconis> [Scarface]"In fact" he grins wickedly
  206. [2012-11-21 19:34:36] <Grail> Too slow
  207. [2012-11-21 19:34:42] <Grail> Hadrian throws his jar at him
  208. [2012-11-21 19:34:46] <Grail> Grabs his mace
  209. [2012-11-21 19:34:56] <Grail> Smacks him in the skull
  210. [2012-11-21 19:36:46] <Falconis> The jar of sprites shatters against the man's face, bending his nose in a painful looking way and sending sprites flying in all directions. He reels and is about to growl something when your mace connects with a wet THUMP, sending him falling bonelessly to the ground.
  211. [2012-11-21 19:36:56] <Falconis> A shout goes out
  212. [2012-11-21 19:37:50] <Falconis> !dice 1d100
  213. [2012-11-21 19:37:56] <Falconis> >_>
  214. [2012-11-21 19:38:01] <Falconis> !roll 1d100
  215. [2012-11-21 19:38:02] <Dice_Flake> 1,0 Falconis rolled [ 1d100 ] { 1,0 23 1,0 = 1,0 23 1,0 }
  216. [2012-11-21 19:38:10] <Falconis> beat that
  217. [2012-11-21 19:38:26] <Falconis> remember your thief bonuses
  218. [2012-11-21 19:38:35] <Falconis> +5 per level
  219. [2012-11-21 19:39:00] <Grail> !roll 1d100+10
  220. [2012-11-21 19:39:00] <Dice_Flake> 1,0 Grail rolled [ 1d100 + 10 ] { 1,0 84 1,0 + 10 = 1,0 94 1,0 }
  221. [2012-11-21 19:39:49] <Falconis> A hand reaches out to grab your cloak and misses completely. You hear the sounds of blades being drawn around you
  222. [2012-11-21 19:40:17] <Falconis> you are the fastest person right here, feel free to take an action
  223. [2012-11-21 19:41:13] <Grail> Knee caps
  224. [2012-11-21 19:41:21] <Grail> He sweeps as many as he can with his heavy mace
  225. [2012-11-21 19:42:04] <Falconis> well, you can reach at least three guys by just turning in a circle, the other four require actually moving though
  226. [2012-11-21 19:42:13] <Falconis> 3 to one side, three to the other, 1 behind
  227. [2012-11-21 19:42:30] <Falconis> I assume you are going for the closest?
  228. [2012-11-21 19:42:34] <Grail> Closest
  229. [2012-11-21 19:43:41] <Falconis> alright, first is auto hit, roll 1d100 for each of the other two if you are going for it, number to beat is 30, and then 40
  230. [2012-11-21 19:44:14] <Grail> !roll 2d100+10
  231. [2012-11-21 19:44:15] <Dice_Flake> 1,0 Grail rolled [ 2d100 + 10 ] { 1,0 81 1,0 1,0 12 1,0 + 10 = 1,0 103 1,0 }
  232. [2012-11-21 19:44:36] <Grail> First passes, second fails
  233. [2012-11-21 19:44:42] <PriceisMagic> (Nailed the second one, not so much the third)
  234. [2012-11-21 19:49:14] <Falconis> You spin and send that heavy, custom improved mace into a crooks kneecap. It goes in directions it was not meant to go with a wet CRACK, heard by all. The man cries out in pain and drops the knife he was drawing as you whirl around and nail the man behind you (>90, bonus). The mace makes a solid hit on the leg and it shatters, the bones of his leg jut out of the soft flesh. Blood spurts out...
  235. [2012-11-21 19:49:14] <Falconis> ...and the man falls to the ground, crying out in pain. The others back away from you, cursing in astonishment.
  236. [2012-11-21 19:50:21] <Grail> "Boys, this is Phil's town. I'd suggest you get out."
  237. [2012-11-21 19:52:40] <Falconis> It doesn't take them long to mull it over. They drop their weapons and run, run for their lives. All except one who stops to grab the second unfortunate crook and drag him along.
  238. [2012-11-21 19:54:47] <Grail> That leaves...one of them still injured and Scarface dead on the floor?
  239. [2012-11-21 19:55:20] <Falconis> just about
  240. [2012-11-21 19:55:41] <Grail> Bury Scarface in a shallow grave nearby my stump of hidden poison
  241. [2012-11-21 19:55:46] <Grail> Sprinkle it in the grave
  242. [2012-11-21 19:56:12] <Falconis> the deed is done
  243. [2012-11-21 19:56:18] <Grail> That stuff is nasty, should get rid of the body in a couple days and leave some discolored dirt
  244. [2012-11-21 19:56:27] <Grail> Grab the one that's alive
  245. [2012-11-21 19:56:36] <Grail> Drag him through the night to Phil's
  246. [2012-11-21 19:56:39] <Falconis> The injured man is on the floor, hands hovering around his knee but not touching it, silently crying
  247. [2012-11-21 19:56:46] <Grail> Pick him up
  248. [2012-11-21 19:57:09] <Grail> "Me and you are going for a walk. You cry out for the guards and I'll smack your teeth out."
  249. [2012-11-21 19:57:13] <Grail> "We clear?"
  250. [2012-11-21 19:57:24] <Falconis> he's a bit heavy, but nods and tries to stay quiet
  251. [2012-11-21 19:57:57] <Falconis> you get him to Phil in short order, avoiding the guards with your previous quick observations of their patterns
  252. [2012-11-21 19:58:09] <Grail> Handy dandy
  253. [2012-11-21 19:58:19] <Grail> "Phil?"
  254. [2012-11-21 19:58:25] <Falconis> Phil is where he always is, sitting on a barrel and talking to kids, he shoos them off as you approach
  255. [2012-11-21 19:59:06] <Falconis> [Phil]"Now this si a bit different. I hope you aren't trying to sell me this."
  256. [2012-11-21 19:59:08] <Falconis> is*
  257. [2012-11-21 20:00:13] <Grail> "I wish. You've got some people trying to move in on your turf."
  258. [2012-11-21 20:01:16] <Grail> "Ran em' off, only about six or seven of them, but they were armed. Tried to rob me on the way back into town, you believe that?"
  259. [2012-11-21 20:01:41] <Falconis> Phil blinks and gets off his barrel, [Phil]"Well for one thing, he can't even walk proper. I'm sure that's a mistake not many will make again"
  260. [2012-11-21 20:02:03] <Falconis> [Phil]"Thanks for the info, It'll get taken care of"
  261. [2012-11-21 20:02:46] <Grail> "You do that. Hey you want this guy? I'm a little busy and I can't be bothered to walk him out the gate."
  262. [2012-11-21 20:02:50] <Falconis> Phil snaps his fingers and two big, brawny bruisers come round and take the man off your hands
  263. [2012-11-21 20:03:03] <Falconis> [Phil]"A little token"
  264. [2012-11-21 20:03:51] <Falconis> He reaches into his pocket and produces a small bag. It clinks attractively when he shakes it.
  265. [2012-11-21 20:03:55] <Falconis> He tosses it at you
  266. [2012-11-21 20:04:12] <Grail> Hadrian tosses it into a pouch without looking
  267. [2012-11-21 20:04:31] <Falconis> He nods and then retakes a seat on his barrel
  268. [2012-11-21 20:04:54] <Grail> Walks off, back to the antique shop
  269. [2012-11-21 20:05:09] <Grail> No jar in hand
  270. [2012-11-21 20:05:48] <Falconis> You leave Phil's alley and head back to the antique shop, The old man is in the same place as before, working in darkness on the disk
  271. [2012-11-21 20:06:27] <Falconis> [old]"You don't have any" He says as you walk in, not looking up. Or hell, maybe he did, it's dark as ass in here
  272. [2012-11-21 20:08:32] <Grail> "Apologies...man whose name I didn't learn. Can I pay you for another jar and try again?"
  273. [2012-11-21 20:09:32] <Falconis> [old]"Suit yourself"
  274. [2012-11-21 20:09:58] <Falconis> You notice another Jar on the counter, same round shape with the words FIRE painted in red
  275. [2012-11-21 20:10:07] <Grail> Grab the jar
  276. [2012-11-21 20:10:12] <Grail> Back out into the night
  277. [2012-11-21 20:10:23] <Grail> Hadrian doesn't really know why he's doing this
  278. [2012-11-21 20:10:27] <Grail> Shrugs
  279. [2012-11-21 20:10:41] <Grail> Spends the next hour looking for these things
  280. [2012-11-21 20:10:47] <Falconis> he's obviously just a big softie
  281. [2012-11-21 20:11:02] <Falconis> You head back out to the fields, Joker is there with a jar full of sprites
  282. [2012-11-21 20:11:20] <Falconis> He's just looking up at the sky
  283. [2012-11-21 20:11:34] <Falconis> The sprites are still easy to catch, and kind of pretty during the night
  284. [2012-11-21 20:12:10] <Falconis> The light refracts when passing through the jar, casting weird shapes all around.
  285. [2012-11-21 20:13:05] <Grail> While he grabs at sprites he asks Joker "You ever see anything strange out here? Besides these things?"
  286. [2012-11-21 20:13:30] <Falconis> Joker starts and turns to face you
  287. [2012-11-21 20:14:25] <Falconis> [J]"Oh, it's you. Sometimes. Sometimes I see rocks rolling around by themselves or reverse rain. This is a strange place."
  288. [2012-11-21 20:14:45] <Grail> "Nothing like giant beams of light coming from the sky?"
  289. [2012-11-21 20:14:45] <Falconis> [J]"I'm trying out a thing, with the sprites. Takes some time though"
  290. [2012-11-21 20:15:55] <Falconis> [J]"Coming from the sky? Well, now that you mention it, there was this bright flash of light a few nights ago."
  291. [2012-11-21 20:16:04] <Falconis> [J]"
  292. [2012-11-21 20:16:11] <Falconis> I dunno bout coming down"
  293. [2012-11-21 20:16:23] <Grail> "Whereabouts?"
  294. [2012-11-21 20:17:17] <Falconis> He gestures towards the south. [J]"Oh, somewhere that direction, then it headed off into the sea"
  295. [2012-11-21 20:17:48] <Grail> "Hrm, ever seen men made of not-flesh?"
  296. [2012-11-21 20:19:08] <Falconis> He looks at you like you're crazy
  297. [2012-11-21 20:19:19] <Falconis> [J]"Where the heck do you get these ideas"
  298. [2012-11-21 20:19:33] <Falconis> [J]"You're a weird stranger mr...stranger"
  299. [2012-11-21 20:20:04] <Grail> "Suppose I am. Still, you ever see one?"
  300. [2012-11-21 20:20:52] <Falconis> [J]"Can't say that I have"
  301. [2012-11-21 20:21:08] <Falconis> He shakes his jar of sprites and put it on a high rock
  302. [2012-11-21 20:22:18] <Falconis> Joker then takes out a pipe, a flute, and starts playing a lively tune
  303. [2012-11-21 20:22:30] <Grail> Hadrian listens for a while
  304. [2012-11-21 20:22:44] <Falconis> The sprites all around the field start moving faster, including the ones in both your jars
  305. [2012-11-21 20:24:26] <Falconis> >_
  306. [2012-11-21 20:25:43] <Grail> Hadrian holds onto his jar
  307. [2012-11-21 20:25:54] <Grail> "What's with the sprites?"
  308. [2012-11-21 20:27:12] <Falconis> Joker looks at you, still playing. He looks around for a bit and then raises a foot and moves it around in the air
  309. [2012-11-21 20:27:41] <Falconis> He then rolls his eyes and shrugs, still playing
  310. [2012-11-21 20:28:24] <Grail> Hadrian will wait for a while longer
  311. [2012-11-21 20:28:28] <Grail> Until he gets bored
  312. [2012-11-21 20:28:33] <Falconis> how long is that
  313. [2012-11-21 20:28:42] <Grail> Ten-twenty minutes
  314. [2012-11-21 20:29:02] <Falconis> after about 5 minutes Joker removes the flute and works his mouth
  315. [2012-11-21 20:29:17] <Falconis> [J]"Bluh, hard to keep this up"
  316. [2012-11-21 20:29:41] <Falconis> [J]"I'm supposed to play to them, they like music or something"
  317. [2012-11-21 20:29:52] <Falconis> He inhales and puts the flute back to his mouth
  318. [2012-11-21 20:31:39] <Grail> "Maybe you should get a string instrument...or stop smoking."
  319. [2012-11-21 20:31:51] <Grail> Hadrian gets up
  320. [2012-11-21 20:31:58] <Grail> Walks off
  321. [2012-11-21 20:34:47] <Falconis> As you get out of range of the music, the sprites go back to their normal speed and dim back to normal light
  322. [2012-11-21 20:34:53] <Falconis> back to antique shop?
  323. [2012-11-21 20:35:19] <Grail> Yup
  324. [2012-11-21 20:37:09] <Falconis> You head back to the antique shop and find the old man still tinkering, though he looks up as you arrive
  325. [2012-11-21 20:37:19] <Falconis> [old]"You were playing to them?"
  326. [2012-11-21 20:39:42] <Grail> "I was around when it happened."
  327. [2012-11-21 20:41:33] <Falconis> He harrumphs
  328. [2012-11-21 20:41:45] <Juroko> (yello)
  329. [2012-11-21 20:41:46] <Falconis> [old]"Well, I won't complain"
  330. [2012-11-21 20:42:01] <Falconis> [old]"Put the Jar on the counter"
  331. [2012-11-21 20:44:22] <Grail> Hadrian does
  332. [2012-11-21 20:44:30] <Grail> "What did you want with these anyway?"
  333. [2012-11-21 20:45:10] <Falconis> [old]"Quint"
  334. [2012-11-21 20:45:40] <PriceisMagic> (Hello Juroko)
  335. [2012-11-21 20:46:02] <Falconis> He mutters under his breath and reaches towards the jar. Three sprites die, puffing out like...a light and three little balls appear on his fingers
  336. [2012-11-21 20:46:41] <Falconis> He flicks one at a torch on the wall, which lights up immediately, puts one in his mouth and puts the other in his tiny diskclockthing
  337. [2012-11-21 20:46:49] <Falconis> It purrs
  338. [2012-11-21 20:47:14] <Falconis> [old]"You may have the rest if you want, and anything from the shelves"
  339. [2012-11-21 20:47:26] <Falconis> He sweeps his hands over the store
  340. [2012-11-21 20:48:09] <Grail> Hadrian grabs the jar
  341. [2012-11-21 20:48:16] <Grail> Looks around for something that catches his eye
  342. [2012-11-21 20:48:27] <Grail> So weird
  343. [2012-11-21 20:48:39] <Falconis> ?
  344. [2012-11-21 20:49:21] <Falconis> Well, there are instruments, books, furniture, toys, some old jewelry, what looks like a music box, and other things
  345. [2012-11-21 20:49:35] <Falconis> if you are looking for something special, ask and I'll say if it's there
  346. [2012-11-21 20:50:33] <Grail> Hadrian will check the music box, then the books, then look for bags

  407. [2012-11-21 21:20:02] <Falconis> [Celias]"This is going to ruin the dirt trade, old Don fatass was my best customer"

  419. [2012-11-21 21:26:21] <Falconis> [Celias]"That old man has probably taken more lives than people you and I have seen put together. Don't know too much about him, all I do know though, is he's a mage, and not the happy go lucky kind. Half the boys round here got juiced when they tried to hit his place, that's why it's so quiet around here now."
  420. [2012-11-21 21:26:56] <Falconis> [Celias]"He doesn't advertize and he doesn't seem to take requests. I'm surprised you came out of that whole, good on you cuz"

  426. [2012-11-21 21:30:34] <Falconis> Celias looks at your hand like a foriegn object [Celias]"Oh really? Phil won't like that."
  427. [2012-11-21 21:30:44] <Falconis> Phineas raises an eyebrow at you

  437. [2012-11-21 21:34:11] <Falconis> [Celias]"Heh, I'm sure we don't have anything to worry about"
  438. [2012-11-21 21:34:15] <Falconis> he perks up
  439. [2012-11-21 21:34:45] <Falconis> [Celias]"Oh really? Back on your feet already, that's some fast work cus"

  449. [2012-11-21 21:41:29] <Falconis> [Celias]"Though the nihir thing is special"
  450. [2012-11-21 21:42:16] <Grail> "Special how?"
  451. [2012-11-21 21:42:28] <Falconis> puff puff puff
  452. [2012-11-21 21:43:07] <Falconis> [Celias]"Well, you know how that place is locked down, if I can get a man on the inside it should be the most profitable trade this side of the empire"
