[FE1] Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light
First FE game on the NES. Features Marth in Archanea. Includes numerical weapon levels.
Has 2 remakes: Mystery of the Emblem - Book 1 (FE3) and Shadow Dragon (FE11)

[FE2] Fire Emblem Gaiden
Second game on the NES. Features Alm and Celica in Valentia. Includes lion statues and Dread Fighters.
Takes place after Shadow Dragon (FE1/3-Book1/11) and before Mystery of the Emblem (FE3-Book2 / FE12)
Has a remake: Shadows of Valentia

[FE3] Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem
First game on the SNES. Includes dismounting (forced in buildings) and promotions for Knights / Hunters. Consists of two "Books":
- Book 1, which is a remake of FE1 using FE3's mechanics.
- Book 2, which is the "Mystery of the Emblem" and is a sequel to FE1.
Book 2 has a JP-only remake on the DS: New Mystery of the Emblem (FE12)

[FE4] Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Second game on the SNES. Features Sigurd and Seliph in Jugdral.
Includes Myrmidons, skills, matchmaking and substitute characters.

> Use the more recent /feg/ compilation because it includes FE4 with a better translation patch.
> Available on the other /feg/ compilation if you really want.


[FE5] Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
Third game on the SNES. Features Leif in Jugdral during the events of the second generation.
Includes capturing units, fatigue (except for Leif) and the first gaiden chapters.

> The /feg/ compilations have a completed translation patch but menus are shitty. Passable though.

> Alternatively, you can try the "Project Exile" or "Unified Thracia" patch. Exile's the more complete option of the two.

[FE6] Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
First game on the GBA. Features Roy in Elibe. Occurs 20 years after the events of FE7.
Includes affinities and different endings (based on gaidens and legendary weapon usage).

[FE7] Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Second game on the GBA and first game released in the West.
Features Lyn, Eliwood and Hector in Elibe. Occurs 20 years before the events of FE6.
Includes weather and Hector's mode (after completing Eliwood's story, which is played first).

[FE8] Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Third game on the GBA. Features Eirika and Ephraim in Magvel.
Includes branching promotions, the Tower of Valni and a split path (pick a lord).

[FE9] Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
First and only game on the Gamecube. Features Ike in Tellius.
Includes Bonus Experience (BEXP), Biorhythm and the Laguz.

Only game on the Wii. Features Ike and Micaiah in Tellius, three years after the events of FE9.
Includes transfer bonuses (from a completed save of FE9) and height mechanics.

[FE11] Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
First game on the DS and a remake of FE1. A prologue about Marth fleeing Altea is added (4 chapters).
Includes reclassing and gaiden chapters only accessible by killing off existing units.

> The /feg/ HACK compilation includes a .xd3 patch that removes the gaiden chapter requirements. Apply it with XDelta3.

Includes three DLC chapters and a remake of BS FE (Archanea Saga).

Second game on the 3DS. Features Corrin, a My Unit that's also the lord of (insert continent here). The game is split into three paths:

Third game on the 3DS and a remake of FE2, which was JP only. Adds a post-game story about traveling to Archanea and traversing the Thabes Labyrinth (Awakening-related). Includes weapon skills (lol double lion), voice acting for everything and Mila's Turnwheel.

[BSFE] Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga
Also known as BS Fire Emblem. Consists of four standalone chapters before the events of Shadow Dragon (FE1/11). Main objective is to earn as many points as possible while completing the map within the given time limit. Originally available via Satellaview on the SNES.

Since that's dead, you're better off playing the "Chronicles" chapters in FE12 (under the "Extras" menu).

[#FE] Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE
Collaborative spin-off between Atlus and Nintendo titled Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem on the Wii U. Not necessarily a crossover between the two series. Features idols in Japan that use Mirages as battle partners (Personas). Mirages are based on characters from Shadow Dragon (FE1/11) and Awakening. There are nods to the SMT series and other FE games but nothing too substantial.

[FEH] Fire Emblem Heroes (iOS / Android)
The most successful spinoff in the series. It’s a hodgepodge of characters from all FE games plus a few original characters. There’s a MU but all you do is shoot a gun to summon shitty units with orbs. Download it on the Google Play Store / iOS App Store.

[FEW] Fire Emblem Warriors (N3DS / Switch)
Generic hack-and-slash game but with Fire Emblem characters. Unsurprisingly, most characters are from Awakening and Fates. However, there are characters from Shadow Dragon (Marth, Caeda, Minerva, etc), Blazing Blade (Lyn) and Gaiden/SoV (Celica).
