- Which timezone does "8 o'clock in the morning" consider?
- SleepingSpider will try to determine your time zone and, if it can't, default to "Pacific Time (US & Canada)." You may contact support to have your time zone changed.
- What is considered to be a change?
- Any difference in the textual content of the page is considered a change. This includes small changes such as correcting typos. Changes to the page's Stylesheets, Javascript, or other invisible elements will not trigger an alert.
- Can I follow non-English pages?
- Sure.
- I mean non-UTF8 pages?
- Yeah. I know. (maybe a little to informal)
- Can I follow password protected sites?
- There is a security risk in allowing this site to access protected information; however, this feature is planned.
- Does this site respect robots.txt?
- It does not, but if you're a webmaster you can contact us and we'll be happy to accommodate your concerns.
- Does it render JavaScript content?
- Not yet, but it might in the future.
- Does it exclude or include comments... if I watch a blogpost with comments will every new comment cause an alert or only blogpost changes?
- Does it understand twitter so if I watch a user, it only alerts me of tweets, not e.g. a change in the number of followers?
- At present, it does not go out of its way for special cases, such as this, but we're researching how these issues can best be handled.
- Does it scrape only once per day or more often and alert only once a day?
- It scrapes about every 4 ~ 8 hours.
- Does it auto-detect pages with rss feeds or pubsub feeds and subscribe to them?
- No.
- Is there a limit on the number of sites I can watch?
- Not right now, but be considerate. Under 100 watches would be a reasonable goal to keep in mind.
