  4.
  5. Star returned downstairs after incinerating the mysterious panties and doing her daily sniff of Marco's pillow. She found Marco's mother preparing dinner for her and Marco's father. For you see, Star had helped Mrs. Diaz make a batch of Marco's favorite food. Star had never cooked before, but Mrs. Diaz had helped her every step of the way. After burning her fingers a few times and setting off a few small kitchen fires, Star wanted to quit and use magic, but Marco's mother encouraged her not to give up. Angie Diaz believed in Star's abilities to do things without the use of magic. Also, they have several fire extinguishers and homeowner’s insurance, so that helped, too.
  6.
  7. "Oh, hi there, sweetie," Marco's mother said once she noticed Star.
  8.
  9. "Food came out great, the nachos, the chili fires, the enchiladas, the cupcakes, and let's not forget the cake," Marco's mother said while pointing at the big round chocolate cake with Marco's face on it. Drawn on of course by Star using white icing.
  10.
  11. "I also got those movies you asked for, uh, Dredd, the Raid movies, both of them, Looper, John Wick, and the Jackass movies," Mrs. Diaz sorta frowned as she read the titles. "I'm not really fond of Marco watching R-rated movies, but I know he does, but if you say these are some of his favorite movies, he will probably keep doing so no matter what I say," As long as it's not Fifty Shades of Grey or something along those lines Mrs. Diaz didn't really care to tell the truth.
  12.
  13. Star chuckled. "Thank you, Mrs. Diaz," she added. Although Star thinks she forgot one.
  14.
  15. "Just promise me you two aren't going to copy the things from those Jackass guys," Marco's mother told Star. She then snapped her fingers "Oh, and I also got that other movie you said he likes, The Fault in our Stars? …Didn't really take my son as the romantic movie type".
  16.
  17. Star blushed and cleared her throat. "*Ahem* That's, uh, mostly for me...and him if he wants to see it with me."
  18.
  19. "Aww! Well, I hope you two enjoy yourselves. It's your date night after all!" Mrs. Diaz mused without a care in the world.
  20.
  21. "Uh, can you not say that out loud, people may think this is really a date. It’s not, let’s make that perfectly clear," Star said happily through gritted teeth, she turned her head looking for any hidden cameras or microphones Jackie may have had installed inside the house.
  22.
  23. Mrs. Diaz took off her cooking apron and smiled. "Oh, my bad, Star. All of Marco's favorite foods, his favorite movies, the fancy glasses filled with coca-cola, the lit candles on the kitchen table with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles table cloth...sorta screamed romance to me." She picked up two plates of food and began walking upstairs with them.
  24.
  25. "If you need us, me and my husband will be upstairs watching TV and eating leftovers, so, we don't interrupt your, uhm...thing with my son," Mrs. Diaz added with a wink.
  26.
  27. Star blushed and laughed nervously, making Mrs. Diaz laugh too as she went upstairs. "Have fun!" she shouted from upstairs.
  28.
  29. "Haha! Yeah, you...you know we will," Star added in an unsure tone.
  30.
  31.
  32. Marco was nearly home. He could still feel Jackie's boob on his hand even though there's nothing there now. Must be what people with that phantom limb syndrome feel all the time. You know you once had it, but now it's gone and yet you still feel it. Jackie had texted him that he had left behind his PS3 and his games, but he texted her back telling her to hold on to them for now. Marco was so out of it when he left her house he was surprised he even remembered he had brought his bike and didn't just go home walking. Jackie had texted back that she's going to play Portal 2's story mode, then, if he wasn't going to come back for more "fun". Marco's thoughts returned to Jackie's half-naked body, specifically how her boobs jiggled when she moved. Marco started to daydream and drool as he rode his bike, even though he was the school's safe kid he still had lapses in judgment. Case in point, as he imagined what sucking on her nipple must feel like, Marco did not realize he was pulling to his left on the sidewalk. A few seconds later he crashed into a fire hydrant, he flew over the handlebars and landed on his back next to a crosswalk. He was going to feel that tomorrow, although he had to admit it would be funny if he were imagining Jackie in a skintight ski suit. Stupid sexy Jackie.
  33.
  34. Marco limped into his house, feeling pretty sore from his little crash. He almost didn't notice all the lights were off, except for some light in the kitchen.
  35.
  36. "MARCO!" Star shouted as she appeared at the foot of the stairs.
  37.
  38. "Oh, hi Star, you startled me," Marco said weakly. He began to make his way to the couch, where he sat down and groaned in pain.
  39.
  40. "Marco what's wrong?" Star asked as she ran over to him.
  41.
  42. "I crashed my bike into a fire hydrant and landed on my back...and possibly my butt," Marco said with a chuckle.
  43.
  44. "Aww, poor baby...err I mean, Marco," Star quickly replied.
  45.
  46. "Don't worry, once you eat dinner you will feel much better,"
  47.
  48. Marco shook his head. "No thanks Star, if you could bring me some aspirin, I think I'm going to skip dinner and go to bed,"
  49.
  50. "NO, YOU CAN'T!!" Star practically screamed.
  51.
  52. Marco sat up, startled by her panicked voice. "Why can't I?"
  53.
  54. "It's just that, just that your mom worked so hard to make you you're favorite foods," Star said, sounding disappointed.
  55.
  56. "She did? Is it my birthday? Oh man, did I forget my birthday? WHAT YEAR IS IT?" Marco was only half joking. Ever since he started seeing Jackie time has become meaningless to him.
  57.
  58. "No, no, nothing like that she just...oh okay, it wasn't just her, it was me too. I just wanted to show you my appreciation for all the things you've done for me," Star said as she sat down next to Marco on the couch.
  59.
  60. "Some of those things you told me about how I just take and take in our friendship really hurt me, but only because they’re true. So, it's not like I'm mad," Star looked directly at Marco as she spoke. "It's not much, but it’s a start right?"
  61.
  62. Marco smiled; guess he had to eat dinner now.
  63.
  64. "Wait you cooked...without magic?" Marco asked.
  65.
  66. "Yup!"
  67.
  68. "And did like the fire department put out the fires quickly or..."
  69.
  70. Star shot Marco a mean look.
  71.
  72. "No, dumb-dumb, your mom did," Star added with a smile.
  73.
  74. Both of them laughed. Marco groaned in pain again afterward. Star ran upstairs and got some aspirin from Marco's mother and brought it down to Marco along with some water. Marco took his medicine, but it was going to be a while before it kicked in.
  75.
  76. "Thanks, Star, I'll join you for dinner in a bit I just want to rest," Marco said as he lay down on the couch face down. That's when he saw the DVD's on the coffee table, he sifted through them and, lo and behold, it was some of his favorites...and The Fault in Our Stars for some reason.
  77.
  78. "Oh, yeah. Your mom also got us some of your favorite movies to watch afterward, all night if you want, I know you like these" Star said kneeling next to Marco. "Uhm, Fault in our Stars, that one is for me but you are welcomed to join me and watch it," Star added, with her puppy-dog-like eyes.
  79.
  80. Marco smiled at Star's expression. "I'll think about it, but no promises."
  81.
  82. Marco closed his eyes trying to get some sleep; his muscles still ached from the accident.
  83.
  84. "I can give you a back rub, I know how," Star asked, waking up Marco.
  85.
  86. "Since when?"
  87.
  88. "My mom is so stressed ruling the kingdom she got a back rub guy…my dad. One of the reasons she married him I think, she figured it was cheaper than hiring a guy or enslaving one," Star said jokingly. "He learned how to give back rubs that relieve stress and pain. She once ordered a guy to be hanged while in the middle of a massage."
  89.
  90. Marco had to admit, it made sense, in a bizarre Butterfly family way.
  91.
  92. "He would give me pointers on how to relieve back pain after a long day of killing Hydra's at the lake," Star rubbed her chin. "That also leads to the story of how Hydra's are now an endangered species,"
  93.
  94. Marco laughed at Star’s little story. He knew she wasn't making any of it up, but was still unsure if she would heal him or break him even more.
  95.
  96. "I don't know Star, you sure you know what you are doing?" Marco asked.
  97.
  98. Star clasped her hands and gave him her trademark puppy dog eyes again. Marco could never say no to that as hard as he tried.
  99.
  100. "Okay, fine! Just be careful...but if I hear something pop, I'm out of here," Marco replied as he braced himself.
  101.
  102. Star leaned over and gripped his shoulders.
  103.
  104. "Where does it hurt?" She asked. Marco responded by pointing at the whole of his back.
  105.
  106. Star began to rub her hands down his spine, it hurt at first, so much that Marco was about to tell her to stop. However after those first few seconds the pain went back to normal levels, and it actually started feeling good.
  107.
  108. "Not sure how this is possible but I think it's working," Marco mumbled as he felt less sore now.
  109.
  110. "Hey, you’re not so perfect, you underestimate me all the time! Sure, sometimes it's warranted, but not this time huh?" Star replied as she massaged his back.
  111.
  112. "Thanks for not slapping food out of my hand this time," Marco replied.
  113.
  114. "Don't worry I'll do that while you eat the enchiladas I made you," both of them laughed at Star’s little quip.
  115.
  116. "How did you crash your bike anyways? You are always so careful"
  117.
  118. "I, uh, I got distracted. It happens. Like you said I'm not perfect," Marco answered.
  119.
  120. "Thinking about Jackie, huh?" Star asked in a stern voice.
  121.
  122. "Well, parts of her," Marco answered not realizing what he said.
  123.
  124. Star pressed down on his back hard, causing Marco to shake in pain.
  125.
  126. "Star! Ow! Ow, that hurts! Ow, STAR! Hey, go easy," Marco groaned.
  127.
  128. Star let up on her pressure. She wasn't going to ask, but she had a hunch the parts of her he was imagining, were not her eyes. The thought alone made her angry beyond belief.
  129.
  130. "Sorry, Marco I had to, it helps the area heal faster, it's an old Mewni technique."
  131.
  132. "Oh, well okay. Just maybe warn me next time? It really hurt," Marco said as he went back to enjoying his massage.
  133.
  134. Marco groaned a little but not out of pain, he was enjoying it. Star noticed this and it made her smile knowing she's helping him.
  135.
  136. "Oh, that's the stuff, right there," Marco whispered.
  137.
  138. "You like?" Star asked as she rubbed his shoulders.
  139.
  140. "Yup, may have to ask you to do this after my karate classes, too."
  141.
  142. "It would be my pleasure, I'm only here to give," Star replied. "Although it’d be easier and more effective if you took off your shirt."
  143.
  144. "Oh, no you don't. I’ve been on the Internet long enough to know how those sorta things tend to go. Nice try, though," Marco said smiling. "Even if you are probably right."
  145.
  146. "Darn! Well, can't blame a girl for trying," Star replied in a joking manner.
  147.
  148. She really did think it would work, though, the other day she spied on him as he changed t-shirts. Star thought Marco was starting to look like he was going to audition for one of those attractive always shirtless guy reality TV shows she and Mrs. Diaz watch. Star would offer a small sacrifice to an ancient demigod to rub her hands all over that.
  149.
  150.
  151. "Thanks, Star. For, you know, looking out for me," Marco said feeling a whole lot better now. He was actually really hungry now but decided to let Star keep massaging him for a little while longer.
  152.
  153. "Anytime, Marco Diaz. I'll always be here for you," Star answered. She leaned down and gave him a light kiss on the back of his neck.
  154.
  155. "What was that?" Marco asked.
  156.
  157. "Just my fingers. Close your eyes and let Star do all the work, don't you worry about a thing."
  158.
  159.
  160. After a short while, Marco was more hungry then hurt. In fact, he almost felt like he was back to one hundred percent. He doesn't know how she did it, but Star's back rub really helped. They went to the kitchen and ate. Marco was so hungry he didn't bother asking why they were eating by candlelight. The enchiladas were easily the best part even if the cheese had cooled a little. They talked about their day and what plans they have for the following week. Marco learned that Star had taken up cross-country running at school, he honestly had no idea. Marco felt bad; he really did abandon her even after he said he wouldn't anymore. What's worse, even when they did hang out, they wouldn't talk about their lives anymore, they would just ask each "what's up?" and that would be the extension of their deep conversations. Marco took a plate full of cake and headed back to the living room to watch some movies, Star followed closely behind.
  161.
  162. They started off with Dredd and then moved on to Jackass. Star didn't really like Dredd all that much, but she thought Jackass was hilarious.
  163.
  164. "It's funny watching people get hurt isn't it?" Star asked Marco. They were both on the couch but on opposite ends.
  165.
  166. "Yeah it is, wait until Ryan Dunn shoves a car up his butt."
  167.
  168. Stars eyes widened. "How is that possible? There's a lot about Earth males that I don't know I guess,"
  169.
  170. Marco just laughed. "It's just a little toy one, not a real one. Sorry, I should have been clearer"
  171.
  172. The movies continued. They were as hilarious and gross as they expected. Marco warned Star not to get any ideas. More specifically don't try any of those pranks on him because she might kill him. By the time they got to the Raid 2 it was getting pretty late, as both Star and Marco were yawning. Today had been a pretty good day for Marco, he got to play with Jackie and that other stuff and now he got to hang out with his best friend while eating tons of good food and watching guys beat the crap out of each other. Gradually Star had scooched over closer to Marco on the couch.
  173.
  174. "What, you think I'm going to bite?" Marco asked.
  175.
  176. "What?"
  177.
  178. "You normally sit right next to me during movie nights, you act like I have a restraining order on you," Marco replied.
  179.
  180. "It's just, you know, Jackie. I know she doesn't like me being in a super close proximity of you for long periods of time."
  181.
  182. "She will stop acting like that eventually. Just gotta give her time, I promise," Marco said to her. "But, uh, until then don't mention that you gave me a back rub to anyone," Marco added half-jokingly.
  183.
  184. Marco switched out the raid 2 for Star’s movie. Odds are he was going to fall asleep anyways, might as well be during a sappy romance movie.
  185.
  186. "You didn't have to do that, I was liking seeing that girl kill all those guys with a hammer."
  187.
  188. "Enough about me, you should get to watch a movie you like," was Marco's reply.
  189.
  190. Marco Diaz, always thinking of others, Star thought to her self.
  191.
  192. Marco tried to stay awake, but yeah it wasn't happening. He could already tell one or both of these kids are going to die a tragic way by the end. These sorta movies tend to write themselves at this point. Wasn't long before Marco tilted his head back and was catching some Z's. Star turned to look at him and just laughed. He tried, though, and that was good enough for her. Seeing him sleep made her sleepy too, she looked around expecting to find Jackie staring at her while holding a butcher knife but saw no one. Star turned off the movie and inched her way over to Marco, she placed her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
  193.
  194. Marco awoke not long after. Stars mumbling had woken him up. He looked and found Star with her arms around his shoulders and her fast asleep mumbling to herself. Marco figured she was dreaming. He tried to nudge her awake, but it wasn't working.
  195.
  196. "Please don't go" Star mumbled.
  197.
  198. "What?" Marco asked.
  199.
  200. "Please don't go, please, please don't," Star continued to mumble. Oh right, her dream, she must be talking to someone in her dreams, Marco figured.
  201.
  202. "I can't do this without you," Star kept mumbling some more. Marco tried to wake her up again but somehow just made her latch onto him harder.
  203.
  204. "Okay Star, you win. Guess I'll be your pillow for tonight," Marco said as he yawned. Marco positioned himself on the couch corner as best he could, and placed his arms around Star in a way that was comfy for him. He wiped some drool from the corner of Stars mouth with his sleeve and gave one final yawn and went back to sleep.
  205.
  206. "Goodnight Star," Marco could barely say before drifting off to sleep. He was hoping to dream about Jackie.
  207.
  208. Star's own dream later turned, from a nightmare about being alone and scared in some dungeon, to Marco and her running down a long tunnel with daylight at the end of it. They emerged into the bright light of the sun and were home free. Star fell into Marco's embrace as he kissed her, she knew he'd never really leave her. Star knew she was dreaming, but she wanted to stay in the dream, forever.
  209.
  210. Back in Ludo's castle, everyone D'aaawd at the scene that was presented on the screen.
  211.
  212. Except for the two-headed guy, he still ships Marco and Hope.
