  1. Robbie Barrat, P.3
  2. A few things that I liked from precalc.
  3.
  4. 1. I really enjoyed the project where we presented a slideshow/poster infront of the class. I feel like these slightly less structured assignments are really nice and allow for a slightly more creative application of the material than what would be found when dealing with, say, a worksheet. I don't know if you're looking for advice but you should really do more “project” assignments in future years of teaching.
  5.
  6. 2. The writing assignments were great. Again I really like these more unstructured approaches to learning, as writing about something larger based off of those shorter prompts you gave us is pretty open ended.
  7.
  8. 3. Your style of teaching is really easy to follow. The slideshow format is good. Also sometimes when you finished early that would give us time to do the homework assigned in class.
  9.

  11. Overall I loved your class, but as for stuff that I would've liked you to do more of; talking about the lives of the mathematicians behind the concepts we learn would be really nice. They're all such interesting individuals, especially the big ones like Euler, and even the lesser known ones like David Hilbert (the one who always wore neat hats). Even if it isn't too relevant I'm sure it would be interesting and the students would love it. For example: here's some stuff I bet you didn't know about Euler.
  12. -He coined the use of f(x) for functions and the use of Π for 3.14
  13. -He wed Katharina Gsell in early 1734
  14. -When she died 39 years later he went ahead and married her sister
  15. -He blinded himself because he didn't want to wait for his eye to heal after surgery
  16. -Because of this he spent most of his life entirely blind, which wasn't really a setback
  17. -He wore a magnetic cloth around his head and claimed it would “align his brain”
  18. -Working on the day he died, he passed unexpectedly due to a brain hemmorage
