  1. <Darkling> Lit shuffles into the living room eying both the children, seeing if their attention is otherwise taken away from him.
  2. <Wilhelm_Faustus> Wil is staring off at nothing, a single earbud in one ear. He has his chin resting in his hand, legs pulled up with him.
  3. Rasia sleeps on the couch, curled in on herself and surrounded by pillows.
  4. <Darkling> Lit takes a seat in one of the recliners, which groans in protest under his massive bulk, and coughs to get their attention.
  5. Wilhelm_Faustus glances over.
  6. Rasia opens one eye, sitting up with a rustle of cushions.
  7. <Wilhelm_Faustus> He returns to staring off at nothing, but surely you've got his attention, pulling the earbud free.
  8. <Darkling> Lit looks especially happy, if not a little pensive. "We've got some plans for this evening children," He fiddles his fingers a little. "So, get ready, we're going out."
  9. Rasia grumbles, adjusting her scarf to rest on her nose, stretching out as she stands up.
  10. <Wilhelm_Faustus> He doesn't move, prepared as he's going to be.
  11. <Wilhelm_Faustus> Suddenly he gets up, looking outside. He turns on his heel and makes for his room.
  12. <Darkling> Lit shrugs and gets up. "We leave in two minutes." He shuffles off to grab a coat.
  13. <Wilhelm_Faustus> He emerges with a new shirt, white with long sleeves and an attached hood. There are actually holes for his thumbs in the sleeves, and its a tighter fit than the last shirt.
  14. <Darkling> FF!!!
  15. <Darkling> Rain tumbles down from the dome sprinklers, pattering on the roof of the APC as it cruises the empty night streets carrying the pilots and Lit toward their destination.
  16. <Darkling> "Any guesses to where we are going?"
  17. <Rasia> Funnily enough, she didn't change her usual mode of dress. Then again she wore thick coats all the time. Lit's query just gets a look.
  18. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "...Helheim."
  19. <Darkling> "Close enough."
  20. <Darkling> "We're going to school!"
  21. <Rasia> 'School?'
  22. <Darkling> "Yes." He nods while saying this. "As much as I argued against it, I've been ordered to have you attend the local quarter's school."
  23. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "...whats its rating?"
  24. <Darkling> "Eh... it is the only school in this quarter, it will have to do."
  25. <Wilhelm_Faustus> A snort.
  26. <Darkling> The APC comes to a grinding halt, a voice announcing their arrival, and the back hatch swings down.
  27. <Darkling> "I've arranged for us to have a private tour through it, to get you accustomed to the environment."
  28. <Darkling> He steps out and beckons the children to follow him.
  29. <Wilhelm_Faustus> A waste of his time...but he
  30. <Wilhelm_Faustus> 's here now. He stands, hands in his pockets as he follows Lit out.
  31. Rasia tags along last, hair falling slick to her head as she gets rained on.
  32. <Darkling> He leads them up to the school, unlocks the door, and heads in.
  33. <Darkling> The interior of the school is well lit, and in contrast to the rest of the Berlin dome, it's quite lively. Apparently they want their kids to not be depressed here.
  34. <Darkling> Lit takes them on a tour, it's obvious that it's mostly for Rasia, as he lets her explore all the hallways, rooms, closets, and anything else she can search out.
  35. <Wilhelm_Faustus> ". . ." He doesn't leave Lit's general area, peering around with mild disinterest.
  36. <Rasia> And she does. Just short of vandalism, her curiosity seems absolutely boundless. Eventually, she asks the inevitable question 'people?'
  37. <Darkling> "Yes, there will be people here, lots of them. We wanted you to get familiar with the place first."
  38. <Darkling> They enter into a gymnasium, looks like the last class forgot to clean up and there are rubber balls everywhere.
  39. Rasia picks one up, giving it a firm squeeze that nearly pops the damn thing.
  40. <Darkling> Lit bounces one and gives it a toss, clearing the whole width of the gym and almost sinking a basket.
  41. Rasia jerks her head around at the bouncing sound, eyes alert.
  42. <Darkling> The ball continues to bounce back towards them before rolling to a stop near Wil.
  43. <Wilhelm_Faustus> A gentle tap with his foot to roll it away.
  44. Rasia wanders after it, giving a hearty kick.
  45. <Darkling> It flies clear to the other end of the Gym, bouncing in the corner.
  46. <Darkling> Wait..
  47. <Darkling> Did the door in the corner just swing shut?
  48. Rasia wiggles her ear, craning her spine to see.
  49. <Darkling> It clicks, loudly, closing all the way. Lit hurries forward, as fast as his body can take him.
  50. Wilhelm_Faustus stays where he is, watching in his usual silence.
  51. Rasia bolts after him, growling.
  52. <Darkling> His heavy frame slams into the door throwing it open, you hear a loud girlish scream.
  53. <Darkling> Lit comes back through the door dragging a short, round, blonde looking boy who's squealing and crying in protest.
  54. <Wilhelm_Faustus> ". . .
  55. Rasia scrunches her nose.
  56. <Darkling> "Please don't kill me!" He manages through sobs, cowering in Lit's grasp.
  57. <Rasia> Sniff, sniff, sniff... Raz sure seems interested in the boy.
  58. <Darkling> It's only now you notice that he's in school shorts and shirt, and his underwear is stretched way out the back in a painful looking manner.
  59. <Darkling> "What are you doing here boy?" Lit demands, rather angrily.
  60. <Darkling> "I was.." he blubbers the rest out, making absolutely no sense.
  61. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "..." Wow, pathetic.
  62. <Darkling> Lit lets go, letting the blubbering mass fall to the ground. "Try again, slower."
  63. <Darkling> He blubbers away again, though you're able to make out something about bullies, a hook up high, and just getting free.
  64. Wilhelm_Faustus lost interest minutes ago, already wandering off.
  65. Rasia creeps closer to the crying thing, pushing him onto his back. She pulls her scarf down to get a better read. Hmmm.
  66. <Darkling> "Wil, stay close." Lit is pulling out a phone and calling someone, while the boy cringes under Rasia, his whimpers all but silenced in fear.
  67. Rasia growls, shoving the boy this way and that way.
  68. <Darkling> "Alright." *click* Lit stuffs the phone back into a pocket. "We've got to escort the boy out of the building and to security.." He looks none too please. "Rasia, let him up."
  69. Rasia gives him one last kick, wandering back towards Wilhelm.
  70. <Darkling> *whimper* The boy stands and starts to book it for the door again. Lit sighs.. "Rasia? Want to catch him?"
  71. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "...is that wise?"
  72. <Darkling> "Don't hurt him, much."
  73. <Rasia> Catch! Raz flies across the gym floor, needing only a few paces to catch up to the poor boy and send him to his stomach, mittens trying to scratch at his fat.
  74. <Wilhelm_Faustus> Well, whatever. He folds his arms over his chest and leans back against the wall, eyes closing.
  75. <Darkling> The boy hits the floor with a flabby thud.
  76. <Darkling> And, just as Wil closes his eyes *BAM!*
  77. <Darkling> =======================Scene Switch================
  78. <Darkling> Lahja, it's mid-morning. You're lounging inside right now, under the skylight that has a wonderful view of the dome and sky beyond. Your bags are all packed in the corner by the door. It's an exciting day indeed!
  79. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She looks skyward, a faint smile on her lips. Despite the smile her eyes are bloodshot and outlined by dark circles, a perfectly normal state of affairs for her.
  80. <Darkling> Your father is nowhere to be seen right, likely out on business, and not so likely to be seen before you leave.
  81. <Lahja_Ilvainen> This doesn't seem to bother her at all. It may be comforting, in fact. She begins pacing about, occasionally twirling.
  82. <Darkling> "Someone's restless," comes a musical voice. Your mother comes out of the bathroom, her work uniform on. White labcoat covering white clothes, and a name tag pinned to her chest.
  83. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She stops, turning to face the woman. She offers a weary smile accompanied by a very casual salute. "The mystery is getting to me, mother. The gears in my head turn so fast it makes my other gears spin, too."
  84. <Darkling> "You'll find out soon enough, you know how secretive these types can be." She offers a consoling smile before returning to check her hair in the bathroom. "I'm just about ready!"
  85. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She simply nods as her mother walks off to the bathroom, turning her gaze skyward again and dropping the salute. "This could be the last time I ever see you. Will you miss me?" This is said quietly, seemingly more to the sky than to anyone else in the area.
  86. <Darkling> "Time to go!" Your mother is back out, and whisking you out the door with your bags in tow. Downstairs and out into the streets. It's a beautiful day, rare during the Fimbulwinter. People are all about, milling through the streets and shops, there's even a man playing a trumpet on the corner, keeping an upbeat tune.
  87. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She walks at a brisk pace, turning her head very rapidly to look all around her. She's obviously wanting to take in the sight of everything one last time.
  88. <Darkling> "We've one place to go before you head off to the shipyard." She explains as you head towards a cafe on the corner. What sunlight that manages to beam down from behind the Black Moon lights up the red cobblestone streets and the yellow buildings.
  89. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "One place to go? Is it here?" She asks with a curious tone, still looking about rapidly, albeit while frequently looking back to the cafe to maintain a very loose semblance of focus on it.
  90. <Darkling> "Yes, we're meeting someone that I'll be working with for the next few months." They're almost there. Ahead looms the cafe, a few people lounging outside in the nice weather, in particular a thin, blonde man wearing an all white suit, standing and speaking with a young girl with long black hair tied into a ponytail.
  91. <Darkling> As you get closer even, they turn to you, recognition flashing behind the man's wire glasses. He steps forward, shaking your mothers hand without a word, and all but glances in your direction.
  92. <Lahja_Ilvainen> This information snaps her out of her dreamy yet energetic mood. A sullen look crosses her over for a brief moment, soon to be replaced by a very formal and stoic look, her posture growing rigid and her voice suddenly drained of emotion. "I see. I'll try to make a good impression."
  93. <Darkling> "Dr. C." Your mother greets him. "This must be Ivy.?" The girl's been staring at you with deep green eyes, but perks up at her name. "Yes, that's me!"
  94. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja stands by her mother in that same rigid posture, staring straight ahead. She remains quiet as well, but listens attentively.
  95. <Darkling> "I look forward to working with you, this is my daughter, Lahja." She nudges you forward a bit towards the beaming girl.
  96. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She takes a step forward at this, the style just falling short of militant. She almost salutes Ivy out of habit, but stops herself and nods politely instead. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
  97. <Darkling> "Thanks!" That smile never leaves her face. "You're going to Berlin right?"
  98. <Darkling> Your mother gasps. She hadn't told you yet.
  99. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "Berlin? I hadn't known, but I knew I was going somewhere." Lahja flashes the woman a short lived smile at that. She seems quite focused on Ivy, making it a point not to look at the man at all.
  100. <Darkling> If he had laser eyes, they'd be all up in your skull right now Lahja. Even without them, you can't help but feel your skin crawl under his gaze.
  101. <Darkling> "Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't think it was a surprise!" You looks sincerely sorry, even if she doesn't stop smiling. "I think you'll love it there though. I always wanted to go."
  102. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "I think it will be interesting. I've felt like I could benefit from a change in scenery after the past few months." Lahja maintains a smile as well, though it seems increasingly forced. Probably to cover up the "I wish I had a loaded gun in my hand." train of thought going through her head.
  103. <Darkling> "I must go." The man in white says suddenly, nodding to your mother and Ivy before he takes off.
  104. <Darkling> Your mother picks up, ending the silence of him walking away. "Well, off to the docks now!"
  105. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Her posture settles down a tad as he departs, probably simply as a matter of instinct. Her mother's words don't register on her immediately. She stares at the man's back for a few moments before she nods.
  106. [2011-05-08 23:29:03] <Darkling> And she whisks you away again, through the bright cheery city interior, out towards the edge of the dome and the docks, all the while Ivy is in tow, skipping and smiling.
  107. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "Do you think it will be pretty in Berlin?" She seems to half skip a bit every now and then herself, the behaviour apparently somewhat infectious to her.
  108. <Darkling> "I hope so, I've heard some of the other domes are just terrible." Ivy's the one talking. "If it's anything like this place I'm sure it's nice!"
  109. <Darkling> The docks are just up ahead now. The smell of the sea is in the air.
  110. <Lahja_Ilvainen> "Pretty can come in so many different forms, just like the grotesque. If the right kind of bullet goes all the way through a person just so, the point of exit can look a lot like a flower." She states in a calm and almost dreamy manner, inhaling deeply when the sea scent catches her interest.
  111. <Darkling> Ivy frowns for a moment.. then perks back up. "That's an interesting fact!"
  112. <Darkling> A man ahead in a military uniform is standing at attention, clearly waiting for you. "Miss Ilvainen?" He asks at your approach, directing it to you.
  113. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She stops when addressed, once again taking on her rigid posture from before. "Yes. Lahja Ilvainen."
  114. <Darkling> "Excellent. You'll be accompanying me to the boat Miss. You've a minute or two to say your goodbyes."
  115. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She nods, turning to her mother. She maintains her rigid stance, doing her best to keep her tone stoic. Despite this she still sounds a bit melancholic. "So... it will be a while before I see you again, mother?"
  116. <Darkling> "Oh!" Her mother is not so stoic, and bends over to wrap her arms around you, tears welling up in her eyes. "It will darling! Don't worry, I'll write!"
  117. <Lahja_Ilvainen> Lahja returns the hug, albeit a bit stiffly. "I'll write back. Always. Please tell father I'll try not to miss him. I'll make you both proud."
  118. <Darkling> She gets one more hug before her mother lets her go, wiping away a tear. Ivy steps forward and gives you a quick hug. "It was nice to meet you!"
  119. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She returns the hug, perhaps just a bit less stiffly than with her mother. "It was. I'll write to you as well if you'd like."
  120. <Darkling> "I'd love that!" Her smile looks even bigger now.
  121. <Darkling> The military man coughs for attention. "If you'll pardon me, but we do have a boat to catch."
  122. <Lahja_Ilvainen> She nods, pulling away from the hug. She offers another short lived smile before moving to the military man and the boat. "Goodbye, place of my childhood."
  123. <Darkling> And with that, he escorts you off to a large ship, Ivy and your mother stand behind, waving, til you are out of sight. Next stop: Berlin!
  124. <Darkling> ==================Scene Switch===================
  125. <Darkling> *BAM*
  126. <Darkling> The door you entered into the gym erupts with a loud bang as it's kicked in by an agent in a black suit, another four following him.
  127. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "..."
  128. <Rasia> "..." Rasia growls, still harassing the fallen chunky boy. He's got a few bruises.
  129. <Darkling> The agents rush over, surrounding Wil, and one moving over to Rasia and the boy. "Rasia, you can let the agent have him now." Lit orders.
  130. Rasia backs off with a grumble, carrying a bag of beef jerky.
  131. <Darkling> The agent pick the boy up, no less rough than Rasia, and hauls him off. The other three agents follow once he's gone. Lit's phone rings and he answers it.
  132. Rasia stuffs the baggy into her coat's pouch, looking rather pleased with herself.
  133. <Darkling> "Alright. Yes. Yes. No." Lit's still on the phone.
  134. Wilhelm_Faustus eyes Rasia as she pockets the bag, shaking his head slightly, then looking away.
  135. <Darkling> "Understood." He hangs up and walks over to the pilots. "We're to head home now. They don't want us out here if word somehow spreads."
  136. <Wilhelm_Faustus> "...well, wasn't this exciting?" He sighs and leaves for the APC.
  137. <Darkling> Lit sighs as well, and they all head for the APC, and back to the apartment.
