  2. [2014-10-31 16:19:45] <Domovoi> Alright, last time, Ivan managed to get out of the bounded circle just before it closed. He and Assassin stand outside a dark, smokey dome. Shizuka remains somewhere inside and out of contact. Koschei has made his stance on the matter quite clear.
  3. [2014-10-31 16:23:56] <Ivanovich> "We're going back in, Assassin. And we can do it with a Command Seal used up or intact."
  4. [2014-10-31 16:25:07] * Ivanovich surges Prana in his hand to activate the Command Seal and is prepared to make the command explicit, unless the Servant accedes.
  5. [2014-10-31 16:27:49] <Domovoi> Assassin glowers down at Ivan as he considers it. After a period of silence, he assents. "Foolish. But if it is your will, it is also your choice."
  6. [2014-10-31 16:29:58] * Ivanovich smirks, "Then we're going in. I'll to penetrate the field. You save your strength for an engagement."
  7. [2014-10-31 16:32:31] <Domovoi> Koschei nods his helmet. The bounded circle is surprisingly easy to pry apart, but as you do so it becomes clear that it's meant to keep things from escaping rather than from entering. Getting in may be much, much easier than getting out again.
  8. [2014-10-31 16:41:55] <Domovoi> Past the barrier, though, the inside of the circle seems to be as you left it. The major exception is that Shizuka is slumped on the ground, propped up by a pair of boys. They look a little...familiar.
  9. [2014-10-31 16:42:48] <Ivanovich> Do they look hostile?
  10. [2014-10-31 16:43:56] <Domovoi> They've got auburn hair and are dressed in Wellston Academy uniforms. Each is also carrying a small quiver and a modern hunting bow. Nearby, an elderly East Asian man in a dark robe stands watch with his arms crossed. Assassin tells you [Saber killed a boy that looked like them.]

  12. [2014-10-31 16:44:52] <Domovoi> Considering that the old man is shining bright with the prana of a Servant, it's safe to assume they're hostile.
  13. [2014-10-31 16:47:53] <Ivanovich> "Right, well." Without a second thought, Ivan pulls a few paper tags from within his shirt and lets them loose. The second they escape his grasp they fold themselves up into vicious looking origami dragonflies. Infused with interlaced Oriental curses of 'harm', they divebomb the two boys.

  15. [2014-10-31 16:49:18] <Domovoi> (As its just dealing combat damage, no)
  16. [2014-10-31 16:50:01] * Ivanovich stalks forward with a few more tags drawn up in his hand, ready to unleash another salvo. "Ancestor, do what you know best."
  17. [2014-10-31 16:50:22] <Domovoi> The dragonflies swarm up and then come down towards the boys in a wave. The old man raises his hand and the two suddenly spring into action - each fire arrows that rip through three or four insects at once. They drop Shizuka to the dirt as they defend themselves, at least.
  18. [2014-10-31 16:54:09] <Domovoi> Assassin himself begins to fade into a dark spot until you both hear a woman's voice. "Uh-uh, no way, Slavshit. I got my eye on you two and you're not going anywhere."
  19. [2014-10-31 16:55:31] <Domovoi> A face pops up from behind the old man. Or, rather, a mask does. The girl looks like the dolls you've been destroying, clad in a toga, with the exception of shoulder length blonde curls. She wags a finger and talks from behind the mask.
  20. [2014-10-31 16:56:19] <Domovoi> "Real clever walking back in here. I've been meaning to get rid of this other Assassin and here you are."
  21. [2014-10-31 16:58:04] * Ivanovich makes a few folding motions in the air, and the destroyed dragonflies reconfigure themselves into scuttling scorpions that enduringly continue their master's initial advance. "I've merely returned to reclaim what is mine."
  22. [2014-10-31 17:00:57] <Domovoi> This time, the scorpions successfully overrun one of the boys. He doesn't panic as the bugs crawl over him and begin to sting, poking holes in him that run red. Even Ivan can tell that he seems to be out of it as the boy crumples under the swarm. The second of the two steps back from Shizuka.
  23. [2014-10-31 17:02:38] * Ivanovich closes the distance in a fit of surprising athleticism to check on her.
  24. [2014-10-31 17:02:56] <Ivanovich> Does she awaken from a rousing slap to the face?
  25. [2014-10-31 17:03:50] <Domovoi> She's breathing, but not very well. Now that Ivan is closer, he can see that she's been hobbled by an arrow through one of her calves. She's quite unconscious.
  26. [2014-10-31 17:05:24] * Ivanovich gazes at the assembled enemy team, <Ancestor, can you get us out?>
  27. [2014-10-31 17:07:36] <Domovoi> The Assassins appear to be locked in a staring match. <I...can.>
  28. [2014-10-31 17:07:53] <Ivanovich> <You can, but...?>
  29. [2014-10-31 17:08:22] <Domovoi> <This woman's weapon is the dagger. When she sees our backs, she will strike.>
  30. [2014-10-31 17:11:24] <Domovoi> Nevertheless, Assassin crouches to heft Shizuka up by the back of her dress, like a kitten. He doesn't break from looking at the other Servants.
  31. [2014-10-31 17:12:17] <Domovoi> "Running away? Barbarians know how to do that? Too much, uh, culture in here for you?" The girl continues to taunt, though the old man next to her gives her some side eye.
  32. [2014-10-31 17:12:26] <Ivanovich> <...a great, calamitious death, huh?>
  33. [2014-10-31 17:12:58] <Domovoi> <Indeed. A theory?>
  34. [2014-10-31 17:14:22] <Ivanovich> <Can you kill that which is dead? Should I part my soul from my flesh, even temporarily, would there be something to kill in the first place?>
  35. [2014-10-31 17:15:34] <Domovoi> <Your body anchors your spirit here. Were there to be no body to return to, your spirit would return to the after.>
  36. [2014-10-31 17:16:38] * Ivanovich laughs inside of his head, <Is that really something /you/ should really be saying?>
  37. [2014-10-31 17:17:13] <Ivanovich> <...besides. We've got a second body right here. I'm sure Shizuka wouldn't mind an extra soul or three if it meant saving her life.>
  38. [2014-10-31 17:17:30] <Domovoi> Assassin huffs. <YOUR body anchors you. I have other anchors.>
  39. [2014-10-31 17:18:19] <Domovoi> The other Assassin wiggles around behind the old man. "This is really boring me. Archer, just take care of them already." With a sigh, he gestures, and the remaining of the two boys knocks an arrow.
  40. [2014-10-31 17:18:30] <Ivanovich> <Remember. Shizuka and I are bound to by that airy little Master of Berserker. What's a little tampering, hm?>
  41. [2014-10-31 17:18:41] <Ivanovich> <Go. Just...make sure I don't fall off of you. I'll do...something about our assailants.>
  42. [2014-10-31 17:19:43] <Domovoi> Assassin takes a turning step just as the boy lets the arrow fly. It sinks right through the armor around him and Ivan can feel him misstep before he makes for the edge of the circle. 3 damage before DR.
  43. [2014-10-31 17:20:35] <Ivanovich> (Does anybody on the team even have DR? Can I roll Living Corpse to reduce the damage or prevent Koschei's concentration from failing?)
  44. [2014-10-31 17:22:34] <Domovoi> (DR is Defense, too. Sure.)
  45. [2014-10-31 17:24:46] * Ivanovich sits up, ready to intercept anything that comes from the little girl and at the same time, temporarily transfer his soul into Shizuka's before the dagger strikes him.
  46. [2014-10-31 17:25:00] <Domovoi> Fortunately, Assassin is able to pierce right through the bounded circle with one strike. The smoke parts in a circle and he steps through carrying both Masters with him.
  47. [2014-10-31 17:26:22] <Domovoi> From your perch, you see not Assassin, but another one of the dolls materialize from the shadow of a tree and rush forward. A knife comes out as the doll gives chase past the edge of the circle, but it isn't aimed for Ivan or Assassin. Shizuka doesn't even stir as the dagger plunges into her side.

  49. [2014-10-31 17:27:07] <Domovoi> You can certainly try
  50. [2014-10-31 17:27:25] <Ivanovich> Would Ruthless apply here (reckless abandon)?

  52. [2014-10-31 17:28:20] <Ivanovich> I'm thinking no
  53. [2014-10-31 17:28:22] <Ivanovich> Oh, cool
  54. [2014-10-31 17:29:28] * Ivanovich jumps off his perch to intercept the dagger meant for Shizuka.
  55. [2014-10-31 17:31:28] <Domovoi> The knife strikes Ivan instead, dealing 1 damage that can't be reduced, and if the doll could look surprised, it certainly would. The simple stilletto is cold on the way in and then roaring hot when the doll rips it back out. "Ivan!" Assassin whirls about.
  56. [2014-10-31 17:34:51] <Domovoi> The knife wound isn't particularly lethal, just a puncture near Ivan's shoulder. With a little aid, he'll be fine. A lot of these and they might be a problem, though.
  57. [2014-10-31 17:35:03] * Ivanovich grits his teeth and begins to work his (and his sister's) magic, desperate to keep whatever 'calamity' the dagger had spoken of at bay.
  58. [2014-10-31 17:35:24] <Domovoi> ROLL IT
  59. [2014-10-31 17:38:49] <Domovoi> Ivan turns his prana inward and searches for signs of incoming doom, though his sister's circuits seem to be ignoring his instructions. He finds nothing, as there's nothing to find. Assassin takes the doll by the front of its toga and hurls it through the opening in the bounded circle just as the hole seals shut, cutting the doll in half.
  60. [2014-10-31 17:39:22] <Domovoi> "No calamity for you. For the girl, that would have been death."
  61. [2014-10-31 17:40:20] <Ivanovich> "Because the knife would have finished her off? Or because there are certain rules to the dagger?"
  62. [2014-10-31 17:42:03] <Domovoi> "Rules. She's not so far off as to die to a cretin."
  63. [2014-10-31 17:42:26] <Ivanovich> "This has given me much to think about."
  64. [2014-10-31 17:42:35] <Ivanovich> "And..Assassin?"
  65. [2014-10-31 17:42:58] * Ivanovich looks away and coughs, "...thank you."
  66. [2014-10-31 17:43:55] <Domovoi> "You are welcome. We should return to the others."
  67. [2014-10-31 17:44:54] <Ivanovich> When they're safely out of the Bounded field, Ivan pings Ariel. <We medical attention.>
  68. [2014-10-31 17:45:01] <Ivanovich> Should I PM Kana or
  69. [2014-10-31 17:45:12] <Ivanovich> just say it IC?
  70. [2014-10-31 17:47:06] <Domovoi> IC is fine
  71. [2014-10-31 17:48:45] <Domovoi> Assassin puts Ivan under his arm lest he attempt to escape again, then streaks through the monochrome echo of the city. Back at the island, it seems like everyone is gathered on the beach. Koschei rips a hole through the boundary between ethereal and material, then drops Ivan through it as he steps across himself.
