  1. EXAMPLE:
  2. Austin, tied to a chair by Yuki, has managed to undo his knots. Unfortunately, he isn’t smooth enough to escape her room unnoticed. She spawns her Silica’s Rifle and fires, rolling Finesse (4) plus Ranged (3), meaning 7d6. 2 of the dice land on 5 or 6, meaning 2 levels of success - to avoid all damage, Austin will need to roll at least 3 levels of success. Austin dodges, rolling his Finesse (5) plus Reflex (5), meaning 10d6. 4 of the dice land on 5 or 6, meaning 4 levels of success, and he deftly avoids all damage.
  3.
  4. Yuki fires again, this time rolling 3 levels of success. Austin dodges again, but is particularly unlucky and rolls only 2 levels of success. Failing his dodge, Austin is forced to roll his Mundane DR. His Worn Armor (1) is added to ⅓ of his Vitality (2) rounded down, resulting in 1d6. Unfortunately, Yuki’s rifle has one point of Armor Penetration, reducing Austin’s defense dice to 0d6. Yuki’s Rifle’s base damage is 6, and due to rolling 1 more success than Austin, can add +1 to the damage for a total of 7.
  5.
  6. Austin still has 1 hit point left, and Yuki decides he’d be easier to dress up as a girl if he were dead. She fires again, rolling 3 levels of success. With his remaining strength Austin dodges again, also rolling 3 levels of success. Once again Austin must roll his Mundane DR, still at 0d6. Because of the glancing hit, Yuki’s Rifle inflicts only ½ it’s base damage of 6 for 3 points of damage, putting Austin down for good.
