- With the new Fire Emblem game coming out rather soon, there's bound to be a lot of people mad about the inclusion of casual mode. Because you know, it's not like classic mode exists or anything, that would be absurd.
- I doubt anyone who is mad about it will actually read this; heck I doubt more that a few people will read this. But I'm doing this for fun more than anything else.
- Anyways back to the topic of casual mode. I love the idea of casual mode; a lot! I would even say it's the thing that allowed me to get into Fire Emblem at all.
- My first fire emblem game was, in the US, "Fire Emblem" for the GBA. I never beat this game, still haven't to this day; but that has more to do with losing it than anything else. I was really young so I don't remember much of my experience playing it. After this I didn't play another Fire Emblem game until Fire Emblem Awakening. This is when casual mode was first introduced to my knowledge.
- I had always found the permanent death mechanic of Fire Emblem incredibly intimidating, it made it hard for me to try to get into the games. Casual mode was a godsend in this case. I was new to the tactical strategy subgenre, and the strategy genre as a whole. I hadn't played Fire Emblem in ages I had no idea what the heck I was doing. I had units falling left and right. Without casual mode I probably would have only finished the game with Chrom, my Avatar, and any other characters that aren't allowed to die; if I finished it at all. It allowed me to actually play the game and get used to a genre I was completely lost in.
- I can honestly say that casual mode allowed me to love Fire Emblem. It got rid of my one barrier to actually playing the games, and I loved them. I actually plan to stop playing in casual mode in the new Fire Emblem game. I feel I have gained enough of a grasp on the game and want to push myself a bit more.
- That's my "rant" on casual mode1. I guess you could call it another one of my "unpopular opinions" if you want.
- Have a great day y'all.
