paranoid's bible - what do if doxed

This chapter is solely dedicated to helping people learn how to react to not only being doxed but potentially harassed through phone or mail.

Before we begin, I must note that we’ll forego chapters and mini-sections simply due to the fact that there isn’t all that much to say or suggest that isn’t covered by the other testaments and the main Paranoid’s Bible itself, ergo think of this as nothing more than a simple refresher course or a go-to quickie guide in case you’re doxed and\or new to the whole “Scrubbing movement”.

First and foremost:
If you’re ever doxed, and you’ve never bothered keeping private and scrubbing as much of your data footprint as possible off the net, you need to learn not to react. Seriously, don’t react, ever. Don’t acknowledge it. Don’t taunt. Don’t say they have the wrong information.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING!

You let them know it’s bothering you, regardless of why they are, and the further they’ll press to get a greater reaction out of you.

You just need to take things slowly, and if it’s a public forum or website (like Facebook or Tumblr) try reporting not only the post but the entire account. But, remember, only do this after you’ve assessed the situation.

Also, remember: Even if the information is wrong, don’t react. It could be an attempt at baiting you into providing your real information.


Secondly:
Blur out your house on Google, Bing and Yahoo maps.

The instructions are below:

For Bing:
http://www.bing.com/maps/
Type home address
Get to street view
Center squarely on house
Look for (?) question mark near bottom right. Be careful as it can be hidden sometimes.
Click it
Select “Report an image concern”
You’ll get a pop-up or new tab with a panoramic image
Select your house, a little red square will appear then
Voice your privacy concern, stating vandalism and potential break-ins by criminal elements who use online maps to scout\case potential targets
Fill out the rest of the form + Capatcha, wait
Save ticket (#) Number
Repeat the above steps for several houses on your block using a different IP (or proxy or VPN) and e-mail addresses

For Google:
Go to Google Maps and type in your address
Bring up the street view of your property
Look to the bottom right hand corner of the screen you should see an Icon Labeled: “report a problem.”
Click on “report a problem.”
You will get a page labeled “report inappropriate street view.”
Look for the words “Privacy Concerns” and click on them.
If you want your house blurred, click on “my house.” Then choose the option: “I have a picture of my house and would like it blurred.”
Adjust the image and show Google which part of the photo needs blurred.
Type the verification code at the bottom of the page into the box provided and click submit.
Check back in a few days to see if the image has been blurred.
Repeat the above steps for several houses on your block using a different IP (or proxy or VPN) and e-mail addresses

Third:
Look over the Paranoid’s Bible, as it provides pertinent information on how to remove your data footprint. You also should take a look at the testaments for removing your social networking presence, securing your instant messengers, and the physical security and privacy testament.


Finally, get off the blogs and stop saying things online. It’s better to lurk—be a non-social individual— and learn things instead of interacting and putting yourself into danger.
