  23. [00:44] <DannyTanner> Now, one more obvious thing people are encountering are the lag/login issues with CR.
  24. [00:45] <DannyTanner> The login issues are okay, however issues found with lag or site unresponsiveness is due to the DDoS attacks we are currently experiencing.

  30. [00:46] <DannyTanner> We also are putting new security measures that will assist in deterring any potential future DDoS attack.
  31. [00:46] <DannyTanner> As a result, you guys will experience a CryptoRush that has some much due stability.
  32. [00:47] <DannyTanner> Not to mention, amazing performance.
  33. [00:47] <DannyTanner> Over the next few days, we will be working with the previous dev team to migrate our data to more powerful servers.

  37. [00:48] <DannyTanner> That's why I'm the new CEO, to make these necessary changes that will revolutionize what you think of CryptoRush.
  38. [00:48] <DannyTanner> I do have future plans to add more support staff, perhaps a live chat for instance.
  39. [00:48] <ThisWeeksCoin> If you have the funds to recover the lost BTC, there's nothing which can't be done in the future.

  78. [00:53] <Simec> dannytrader, the leaked document about the 950 btc hack that cryptorush suffered, and the accusation of having volontary tricked the market with selling share of a company in imsolvence stats, what is the new ownership position about this? you will buy back all the fraud shares at the sale price?
  79. [00:53] <nx5> what about spaincoin? people still have spaincoins there that they can't withdraw. It has been in "maintenance" since the blackcoin thing happened. I've asked you about this several times since then

  85. [00:54] <OdinYggd> bitcoin isn't locked- the wallet is empty
  86. [00:54] <OdinYggd> Literally, balance of 0
  87. [00:54] <duuuuuude> sorry to ask again, can you prove the bitcion assocation is behind cryptorush now, cause that will be the first question people ask me
  88. [00:54] <^^Kilroy> blackcoin
  89. [00:54] <DannyTanner> Simec, since that document, we have recovered some BTC.
  90. [00:54] <Exodus_Gear> When can users expect to be remburced for the CR Shares?
  91. [00:54] <OdinYggd> The site system has correctly tracked the balances
  92. [00:54] <^^Kilroy> suprise suprise...
  93. [00:54] <Simec> ok, but the share fraud still remain, will you buy back all the share ?
  94. [00:54] <RaisedHand> What is the nature of this DDOS attack? My servers report 15 milisecond responcetimes.
  95. [00:54] <RaisedHand> that is not indicator of a DDOS
  96. [00:54] <OdinYggd> You're pinging cloudflare
  97. [00:55] <OdinYggd> This isn't a pipe-saturation ddos
  98. [00:55] <OdinYggd> It is a resource consumption ddos
  99. [00:55] <Jumpie> its likely a layer 7 dos
  100. [00:55] <OdinYggd> Currently we are in between waves
  101. [00:55] <RaisedHand> ahh okay
  102. [00:55] <Jumpie> you guys need realistic ddos protection
  103. [00:55] <winevirus> DannyTanner, I'm the new developer for Zeitcoin. I just recently took over in the past week. Can you say anything about what you plan to do for the losses on ZEIT and BC side?
  104. [00:55] <Jumpie> not bob's bargain barn
  105. [00:55] <duuuuuude> +1
  106. [00:55] <^^Kilroy> fuckin hell
  107. [00:55] <^^Kilroy> when are you going to unlock peoples BLACKCOIN
  108. [00:55] <OdinYggd> Jumpie, most ddos protective gear only stops layer 3 attacks by default
  109. [00:55] *** You are now known as AngryAdmin.
  110. [00:56] <Jumpie> odin, i know
  111. [00:56] <Jumpie> not where i work
  112. [00:56] <logicaluser> ^^Kilroy pretty sure the blackcoin was robbed, no?
  113. [00:56] <G-Thing> The word, "awhile" was mentioned in terms of BTC withdrawls normalising. How long, roughly is, "awhile"?
  114. [00:56] <OdinYggd> It has to be manually configured to block layer 7 attacks, because resource-depletion attacks on a website often are specific to the site structure
  115. [00:56] <w000t> ^^Kilroy they dont have bc in wallet
  116. [00:56] <nx5> I'm the Spaincoin developer. I ask again, what about SpainCoin? it has been in maintenance mode since all this started. People want to know if/when they will have access again.
  117. [00:56] <Jumpie> i work for a world leading ddos company that speicalizes in such attacks
  118. [00:56] <DannyTanner> winevirus, the plan to compensate those users are still in effect.
  119. [00:56] <OdinYggd> Juniper?
  120. [00:56] <^^Kilroy> logicaluser no. their site glitched and gave it away..
  121. [00:56] <Jumpie> you basically have prolexic, and black lotus
  122. [00:56] <Jumpie> i work for one of em
  123. [00:56] <Keef> duuuuuude : would like an answer to your previous question too, it's been asked enough
  124. [00:56] <OdinYggd> The best I've heard of is the Juniper series.
  125. [00:56] <Exodus_Gear> DannyTanner When can users expect to be remburced for the CR Shares?
  126. [00:56] <^^Kilroy> not my problem. i had transfered in a small amount just before this retarded lockdown
  127. [00:56] <Jumpie> we use juniper gear exclusively, but juniper isnt an anti ddos company
  128. [00:56] <ThisWeeksCoin> DannyTanner, answer to the PM when you're done here. Thanks
  129. [00:56] <logicaluser> ^^Kilroy and thieves withdrew it, hence robbed
  130. [00:56] <Jumpie> but you are correct in it being the best gear
  131. [00:57] <OdinYggd> Only other one I am familiar with is Cisco guards- and cisco guards keel over at 1GB/s typically
  132. [00:57] <Jumpie> but our actual hardcore filtering doesnt happen on a juniper
  133. [00:57] <coinjohn> UP UP and awhiiiiiiiiiiile we gooooooooo
  134. [00:57] <^^Kilroy> i want my shit released so i can get it off that shit exchange.
  135. [00:57] <logicaluser> point being.... what blackcoin?
  136. [00:57] <Jumpie> oh, we can filter multiple hunder gbit at hundreds of millions of packets per second
  137. [00:57] <OdinYggd> Fun
  138. [00:57] <OdinYggd> How about 2.5GB/s of DNS reflection
  139. [00:57] <duuuuuude> thats alot of filtering
  140. [00:57] <Jumpie> logicaluser: i sold black coin earlier when it wsa in the 4000s now im sad :(
  141. [00:57] <^^Kilroy> logicaluser learn the difference between gave it away and stolen :P
  142. [00:57] <Simec> the previous ownership thought to recover the loss by issuing fraud shares in insolvency status. The new ownership need to clarify this position ASAP
  143. [00:57] <OdinYggd> an attack so fun it almost took Montreal off the map
  144. [00:57] <Jumpie> sure...or ntp reflection
  145. [00:57] <OdinYggd> Level 3 had to null the entire block
  146. [00:57] <Jumpie> thats the latest one
  147. [00:57] <OdinYggd> Yeah it is
  148. [00:57] <OdinYggd> dogehouse got hit with that
  149. [00:58] <Jumpie> we dont even allow ntp
  150. [00:58] <OdinYggd> Hits even harder than DNS reflection- higher amplification factor
  151. [00:58] <Jumpie> at the edge
  152. [00:58] <OdinYggd> and just as hard to block
  153. [00:58] <crucher> DannyTanner will you be addressing the "fraud" aspect of selling shares while having ~$500,000 stolen/missing, and what the new management plans on doing to mitigate this.
  154. [00:58] <OdinYggd> Oh?
  155. [00:58] <^^Kilroy> this fucking exchange cost me over 1.7BTC cause of thier incompetance
  156. [00:58] --> gamefish has joined this channel (6bc59676@gateway/web/freenode/ip.107.197.150.118).
  157. [00:58] <OdinYggd> NTP is a vital protocol for some functions
  158. [00:58] <Jumpie> but whats funny is...its not vulnreable IF YOUR PATCHED
  159. [00:58] <-- Sporklin has left this server (Read error: Connection reset by peer).
  160. [00:58] <Jumpie> check out blacklotus.net
  161. [00:58] <OdinYggd> The way to handle NTP is to simply provide a local time mirror independant of any other system
  162. [00:58] <prim8> don't listen to thisweekscoin he's a failure who can't launch a shitcoin like h20
  163. [00:58] <^^Kilroy> might not seem like much to you, but its a shit load to me..
  164. [00:58] <Jumpie> im trying to get more crypto related sites onboard at a good price
  165. [00:58] <OdinYggd> All of your stuff goes against that local stratum, which is whitelisted
  166. [00:58] <OdinYggd> but since that stratum is not a publicly-listed IP, it won't get shot
  167. [00:58] <Jumpie> odin..it was too much of a liaiblity, even for our upstream
  168. [00:58] <OdinYggd> all other NTP can then be blocked
  169. [00:58] <Jumpie> we're doing our own ntp
  170. [00:59] <Jumpie> and letting customers peer with ours only
  171. [00:59] <OdinYggd> Yeah, you're using the local stratum approach
  172. [00:59] <vb`> hi jumpie
  173. [00:59] <OdinYggd> I do that on the lan at work
  174. [00:59] <logicaluser> ^^Kilroy no, that's plenty... but we're all in the same boat here, not just blackcoin
  175. [00:59] <prim8> ty for sharing your plans on irc dannytanner
  176. [00:59] <Jumpie> sup vb
  177. [00:59] <OdinYggd> the router at work does NTP broadcasting on the LAN side
  178. [00:59] <OdinYggd> that way I can block all other NTP
  179. [00:59] <prim8> yo jumpie when you gonna give gab's his btc back?
  180. [00:59] <OdinYggd> only the router is allowed to query ntp, and it responds to ntp queries from the lan side
  181. [00:59] <^^Kilroy> then they need to fix thier shit rather then smoke and mirrors the money around the net to make it look legit..
  182. [01:00] <OdinYggd> They are fixing it kilroy.
  183. [01:00] <OdinYggd> be patient.
  184. [01:00] <OdinYggd> They've been working on this all day
  185. [01:00] <Jumpie> what?

  197. [01:00] <evilthought> Can I trade my BTC for something else and withdraw (once ddos is over?)
  198. [01:00] <duuuuuude> as soon as i can loosen up some coins
  199. [01:00] <OdinYggd> They're making vital repairs with one hand and fending off a DDOS attack with the other
  200. [01:00] <logicaluser> blackcoin we have zero clue about, likely also depleted a fair bit
  201. [01:01] <OdinYggd> then they'll be getting a sum of btc to replenish the wallet

  207. [01:01] <Jumpie> especially the guys with less tech knowledge
  208. [01:01] <logicaluser> this exchange's security was a joke

  213. [01:01] <duuuuuude> but some safety measurs should be put in place
  214. [01:01] <logicaluser> I'll repeat that, no cold wallet
  215. [01:01] <Jumpie> well mtgox started it, although most people shoulda headed for the hills a long time ago with that
  216. [01:01] <-- AthidHep2 has left this server (Client Quit).
  217. [01:01] <OdinYggd> MtGox didn't start it
  218. [01:01] <OdinYggd> They just got the most publicity
  219. [01:01] <graphfox> exchanges are a risk, crypto isn't inherently risky
  220. [01:02] <duuuuuude> mtgox was so obvious
  221. [01:02] <Jumpie> i'd like to see a wacraft auction type system
  222. [01:02] <Jumpie> built in escrow
  223. [01:02] <OdinYggd> what is happening here is a bank run
  224. [01:02] <duuuuuude> cryptos are a risk
  225. [01:02] <Jumpie> duuude yeah

  228. [01:02] <duuuuuude> like all finacial choices
  229. [01:02] <OdinYggd> There's a few places taking that solution
  230. [01:02] <logicaluser> I mean... a Bitcoin exchange without a cold wallet
  231. [01:02] <Jumpie> when i first started out and was lookin at mtgox and it said 'up to 4-6 weeks for withdrawls' i was like riiiiight
  232. [01:02] <logicaluser> wtf
  233. [01:02] <OdinYggd> What we're seeing is effectively bank runs against the exchanges in response to hackings
  234. [01:02] <Jumpie> i think ...these things are lessons to be learned going forward
  235. [01:02] <logicaluser> that's like a bank with no vault
  236. [01:02] <logicaluser> and millions in teller drawers
  237. [01:02] <OdinYggd> Um
  238. [01:02] <Jumpie> i dont thikn bitcoin will be the end all be all but its gonna set a foundation for how currency will be in the future
  239. [01:02] <OdinYggd> Reality check
  240. [01:02] <duuuuuude> yep and if they can make it thru this, it will show alot
  241. [01:02] <OdinYggd> If everyone in the village goes to the bank and tries to withdraw
  242. [01:03] <OdinYggd> the bank will stop all payments due to insufficient liquidity
  243. [01:03] <Jumpie> it's happened before
  244. [01:03] <duuuuuude> yes we understand what a bank run is
  245. [01:03] <OdinYggd> they then have an emergency fund brought in from the FDIC or from another bank so that they can reopen
  246. [01:03] <Jumpie> and most banks are even now in that potential 'over subscribed' status
  247. [01:03] <OdinYggd> These exchange failures are the same thing
  248. [01:03] <OdinYggd> Jumpie, it is inherent to fractional reserve, and apparently inherent to exchanges
  249. [01:03] <OdinYggd> They intentionally only keep a fraction of their stored value onsite
  250. [01:03] <G-Thing> There is one fairly big difference though. The exchanges don't allow you credit - so, in theory a 'bank run' should have no effect. IF it's not a fractional reserve of course.
  251. [01:03] <Jumpie> i had a big arguement with my friend today on this
  252. [01:03] <OdinYggd> the rest is given out as loans, or sent back to other banks
  253. [01:03] <Jumpie> and how he thinks bitcoin is 'waste' of resources
  254. [01:03] <digudugdoge> these exchanges aren't running fractional, they're being robbed. Big difference
  255. [01:03] <OdinYggd> In normal operation this is not a problem
  256. [01:03] <evilthought> One of the guy is working on a semi decentralized exchange soon that will work with multi siganture system (requiring three servers to sign a transaction). It will run on Nxt asset exchange ... No more headaches dealing with exchanges

  265. [01:04] <OdinYggd> and then after the theft a bank run happens and exposes that a theft happened
