- [00:58] <OdinYggd> All of your stuff goes against that local stratum, which is whitelisted
- [00:58] <OdinYggd> but since that stratum is not a publicly-listed IP, it won't get shot
- [00:58] <Jumpie> odin..it was too much of a liaiblity, even for our upstream

- [01:02] <OdinYggd> If everyone in the village goes to the bank and tries to withdraw

- [01:03] <Jumpie> it's happened before
- [01:03] <duuuuuude> yes we understand what a bank run is
- [01:03] <OdinYggd> they then have an emergency fund brought in from the FDIC or from another bank so that they can reopen
- [01:03] <Jumpie> and most banks are even now in that potential 'over subscribed' status
- [01:03] <OdinYggd> These exchange failures are the same thing
- [01:03] <OdinYggd> Jumpie, it is inherent to fractional reserve, and apparently inherent to exchanges
- [01:03] <OdinYggd> They intentionally only keep a fraction of their stored value onsite
- [01:03] <G-Thing> There is one fairly big difference though. The exchanges don't allow you credit - so, in theory a 'bank run' should have no effect. IF it's not a fractional reserve of course.
- [01:03] <Jumpie> i had a big arguement with my friend today on this
- [01:03] <OdinYggd> the rest is given out as loans, or sent back to other banks

- [01:06] <evilthought> One of the guy is working on a semi decentralized exchange soon that will work with multi siganture system (requiring three servers to sign a transaction). It will run on Nxt asset exchange ... No more headaches dealing with exchanges https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg5904053#msg5904053
- [01:07] <OdinYggd> meh
- [01:07] <Jumpie> these growing pains will ddefinately cause pepole and serious exchange owners to thikn outside the box
- [01:07] <duuuuuude> i have seen that as a wallet function
- [01:07] <OdinYggd> I want to see a full-on p2p exchange network, where the trades themselves are documented over the blockchain
- [01:07] <duuuuuude> so there is no exchange at all just the coins wallet
- [01:07] <Jumpie> odin, thtsa coming i think
- [01:07] <Jumpie> or..that
- [01:07] <Jumpie> kinda like what i was saying
- [01:07] <Jumpie> private built in escrow type deal

- [01:08] <Jumpie> and when somebody wants it yo get a pop up on your phone or something
- [01:08] <Jumpie> and complete it
- [01:08] <Jumpie> or 'relesae' like on localbitcoins
- [01:08] <Jumpie> i used lbc all the time to turn btc into money paks
- [01:08] <Jumpie> rawdag...what currency
- [01:08] <duuuuuude> i dont want ot meet people so i like the exchange in the wallet idea better

- [01:09] <Jumpie> i send coins to escrow..he sends me moneypak number, i validate its legit, i release coin
- [01:09] <Jumpie> nobody can get screwed
- [01:09] <duuuuuude> that is a good system
- [01:09] <duuuuuude> i was doing that thru cryptothrift to sell btc for cash
- [01:10] <Jumpie> i like it because no fees and no delays like coinbase, etc
- [01:10] <duuuuuude> the no fees would help
- [01:11] <duuuuuude> i now just turn my btc into amazon gift cards
- [01:11] <duuuuuude> and just buy whatever iwant
