Tidings, and welcome to the Collective!

The University of Cosmic Understanding has a curriculum that is
specifically designed to introduce you to the culture, history, and
responsibilities involved with being a Hallifaxian citizen.

COLLEGE STATUS will provide a list of courses available: Geography,
Healing, History, Influence, Planes, and Power. CGHELP <course> will
provide a thorough explanation of each course's requirements. Each
successful completion of these courses will noteably shorten your time
in the University.

Depending on what guild you are in, you have a guild-specific lesson
plan that will aid you in your future endeavours as a novice.

Read CGHELP AEROMANCERS if you are part of the Aeromancers.

Read CGHELP RESEARCHERS if you are part of the Institute.

Read CGHELP SENTINELS if you are part of the Sentinels.

Read CGHELP SYMPHONIUM if you are part of the Symphonium.

CGHELP DIRECTIONS provides a helpful list of places you will need to
reach for the University courses. You will notice certain numbers
appearing in other CGHELP scrolls as well. These numbers indicate
locations. PATH FIND <number> will give you directions to a desired
location, while PATH WALK <number> will quickly bring you there.

When in doubt, do not hesitate to ask questions: CGT <your message> will
allow you to speak on the University aether and our professors will be
able to help you.

You say, "Well, such a fate is possible for you to attain."

Undergraduate Goober says, "I chose this city for it's neutrality. I did not expect to have books and school thrown into my face before I could even find my feet."

You say, "Neutrality? What makes you believe that we lie neutral within the political climates of the Basin of Life?"

You tilt your head and listen intently.

You say, "The lessons in Discernment will allow you to use FIRSTAID on yourself and identify ailments that may afflict you, as well as tell you what is needed to cure them. The Discipline will teach you CURING and allow you to know automatically use to sip your potions to recover health, mana or ego. And the Environment lessons will provide you the ability to SURVEY a location, so Gods forbid, if you find yourself lost, you will be able to tell others where you are and they can come to your aid."

Undergraduate Goober says, "Sounds like none of them are useful to me."

Undergraduate Goober says, "I need only bromides, mana and health potions for what I do."

Undergraduate Goober says, "And getting lost is only half the fun."

Undergraduate Goober says, "Would be...contradictory if I already knew everything about the basin, to go off exploring what I already know."

You say, "What will you do though if you, for example, break a bone during while you are hunting?"

Undergraduate Goober says, "I dont intend to hunt."

However, not being able to choose before being thrown into it, and having books and scrolls flung in my face right out of the starting gate, is quite put-offish. Like the people here have no soul. You cannot choose. Here read this and never have face to face interaction, we are drones we are legion ya dig?"

Undergraduate Goober says, "Few, if any people I know enjoy having books thrown in their face before they even meet a single person."

You look skeptical and say, "You seem rather hung up on that point, Undergraduate, despite the fact that you have your Guildmaster standing here before you, taking the time to address your concerns in person."

You say, "We provide the materials that we provide because there is value in streamlining the process of welcoming new members to the Collective."

You say, "If individuals require specific care or guidance, then we take the time to provide such to them, just as I am doing for you now."

Undergraduate Goober says, "You came in rather late. I was already a master of influence, and dramatics, and was setting out to go influence when you pulled me aside. And pretty much the first thing I heard from you is how is your progress? Progress of what? Then we get here and you hand out help tomes...it wasn't until I made it clear I was not interested in that did you talk to me."

Undergraduate Goober says, "My point is, streamline or no, it's...uncivilized to be so cold and unwelcoming as to smack someone on the head with books before they even know what's what."

Sternly, you say, "Watch your tone, Serf. It is not your place to question the procedures or intentions of the Collective. If you find us cold and unwelcoming, then perhaps the Collective is not a fitting place for you. Especially so, if all you intend to do is squander the protection that the strength of the Collective provides you to simply influence the guards, day in and day out, and then pursue a career in the arts without ever having bothered to take the time to serve the Collective properly and earn your understanding of what it takes for us to provide the Harmony that allows an artist to create Beauty."
