  1. Crises Ideas
  2.
  3. Midgame Crises
  4.
  5. Age of Revolt: Authoritarian gets slave revolt. Egalitarian gets megacorp abusing public trust. Xenophile gets xenophobe reactionists. Xenophobe gets alien sympathizers. Spiritualist gets heretics (Stellar Prophet folded here?). Materialist gets rogue AI. Militarist gets hippies/civil war. Pacifists get coup attempt.
  6.
  7. The Man Who Would Be King: A rogue member of a fallen empire fled with an advanced warship and is trying to form a new kingdom. If empires submit to his rule get access to the ships databanks, give boosts to researching certain techs. Submit costs 25% of resource output and spawns ships for him ala the khan.

  11. Endgame Crises
  12.
  13. Insanity Virus: Spreads across galaxy, must complete event chain to find origin and cure. Empire that discovers cure gets society research and relation boost with infected empires. Infection causes pops to stop working their job. Can use decision to take output penalty to slow infection on world. Quarantine decision to decrease infection chance but decrease trade. Completely infected worlds will spawn fleets to go and rampage across the galaxy. Fleets might have ships disappear to join raiding fleets.
  14.
  15. Dimension Portal: Mirror empire invades through portal after victory over warp beasts
  16.
  17. Leviathans wake up in mass across galaxy and rampage
  18.
  19. Nanites start consuming galactic resources
  20.
  21. Stellar Prophet: A psionic chosen one has fleets that patrol the galaxy picking up converts (abducting pops from your planet). The prophet spawns with six 30k strong "preacher" fleets to gather converts and an 80k strong prophet fleet with unique model titan. Prophet fleet gets stronger the more pops converted, spawning additional preacher fleets for each 200 pops converted. Prophet has Divine Enforcer colossus ability and converted planets spawn a 10k crusader fleet.
  22.
  23. Oil Wars: extremely powerful strategic resource is discovered late game. Empires fight for access to it. Maybe a building that converts 1 oil into 25 alloys or something bullshit like that.
  24.
  25. Sim-Crisis: The question of is the Universe a simulation has finally been answered with the giant errors coming into existence. Empires must fight them to prevent the spread of data corruption and open the galactic core to reset the program.
  26.
  27. The Pursuit: A ship-bound race appears at the edge of the galaxy warning of "hunters". They quickly flee to the opposite side of the galaxy, fighting through stations if closed borders. 50 years later the hunters arrive and follow the same path and killing everything. Players must defend the runners against progressively larger waves of hunters
  28.
  29. Extra-Galactic Invasion: Empire that conquered another galaxy managed to teleport a star cluster outside our galaxy and are using it to invade. Empires have the option of becoming vassals, being awarded tech and resources for conquering other worlds for the invaders. After a certain percent has been conquered they will attack their vassals to pacify them. Unique weapon and shields they give their vassals have a failsafe, have to research/do event chain to get them to work against invaders. Destroying a super gateway in their cluster defeats them, which causes them to splinter like khan death.
  30.
  31. What Was IS: The Worm is angry and seeks revenge. Rifts have opened up and with fleets of gibbering lunatics pouring out of them. Cults are arising on organic worlds preaching the Gravity Is Desire and Time Is Sight. Rifts are guarded by dimensional horrors. Pops on conquered planets are mutated into new subspecies more pleasing to the Worm. Small lunatic fleets (5-10k) spawn on each conquered world. After set time rifts can spawn leviathan Horrors, that serve the Worm.
  32.
  33. Invade other dimension: portals to another dimension opened up, goldrush to go in and exploit. Small clusters with high resources, perhaps unique resource? Handful of pre-spaceflight species that will rapidly awaken and rise up to fight off your invasion if you exploit too much. Species have unique traits?
  34.
  35. Future force: Far future is running out of resources/disaster struck so they decided to invade the past. Destroy the chrono-beacons to stop them.
  36.
  37. Fractured Galaxy: The galactic core has become unstable, spawning numerous clusters outside the main galaxy. Empires must flee to these through wormholes to survive. Once the core has stabilized, empires can return to the galaxy, which has had its hyperlanes changed. Temporal anomalies has allowed new empires to spawn and grow, meaning now you have to kick the new kids off the block to reclaim your territory.
  38.
  39. Temporal Harvesting: Triggered through a "dangerous" technology that increases resource output. Several NPC empires with the tech will suddenly change species and ethics due to a time warp. The time police then invade and try to sterilize the galaxy to prevent anymore temporal collapses. Temporal Harvesting tech is also a prereq for tech that increases trade output and tech that makes leaders immortal.
