- Let us work backwards.
- 1) Pedantry: Helps no one. "Guys" as a term is commonly used a word for a group of people irrespective of gender. When used in a collective manner as I used it, it is gender neutral.
- 2) Misinterpretation: Easy when attempted. Where did I say anyone is not a woman? I didn't. Women (often) want to look like women. MTF (often) want to look like women. Teenage girls, also, often want to look like women.
- 3) Yes "my" anecdotal and subjective experiences are only valid to "me" however what "I" am trying to say is that "I" think taking HRT is about changing oneself physically. "I" would suggest that if this is something you do not want that perhaps you ought not be on hormones since it is inevitable that you will go through physical changes. All doctors that "I" have interacted with with regards to "my" transition have made sure that physical changes are something "I" am ready and happy to have, and that a diagnosis of GID (ie that you already have at least to some extent the mind of a female) is present. If you do not want physical changes it is possible to express your femininity, and even to present as such regardless and so it is "my" understanding that HRT in this situation is not recommended by most doctors, nor wanted by the patient, except perhaps in super low doses. I should imagine these doctors are probably correct. Please note: I did not once say that HRT has no effect on mood or feeling.
- 4)Strawman: Impressive. Just because some people might make this mistake and focus too hard on looking like instead of being female has no bearing upon the fact that if you wish to successfully integrate into female society it helps a great deal if you look that part. All Joey wanted to know was whether she could potentially look female.
- 5) Subjective? Maybe, some people don't care about how they look so I guess it is subjective to a point. Though of course it is a fact that out in the world to a lot of people in a lot of different ways, looks matter for a lot of things. It just so happens that I agree with them. Whether you care or not about your appearance, someone somewhere will and it will affect how they interact with you. That interaction will be affected by how you look and thusly your appearance will matter to some extent whether you care about it or not.
