/Great physical wall. Good mixed bulk. Works well as a physical wall. Mandatory on Sandstorm teams. Is able to counter Vulpix, and Sun by extension. Good supportive movepool. Hippopotas enormous physical bulk means it can revenge kill key threats such as +6 Zigzagoon.

Hippopotas is a great wall thanks to its great mixed bulk. Its physical bulk is simply amazing and Hippopotas can thus check prominent threats such as Mienfoo, Pawniard, Timburr etc and can even take a +6 Extreme Speed from Zigzagoon while having potent special bulk. Moreover, it has access to a reliable recovery move in Slack Off. it's the only pokemon in LC with the ability Sand Stream and is thus mandatory on this kind of team. This allows Hipopotas to support its team while being a great check to Vulpix and Sun teams in general. Speaking of supporting, Hippopotas is a great supporter thanks to its great supportive movepoolnwith moves such as Stealth Rock and Whirlwind, the latter preventing it from being a set up fodder for Misdrezvus, unlike other walls such as Spritzee. Unfortunately fpr hippo, it has its flaws. Its special bulk while not horrible is actually pretty underwhelming so Hippo wont take well special hits,so that special attackers such as xxx can easily destroy hippo. it also has common weaknesses to grass and water mostly.
