  1. Long ago, there was a tiny village just outside the Northern borders of the Academy. This was a farming village. Rumor had it that this village wasn’t very good at paying tribute to the Academy, but that might be getting too far off track.
  2.
  3. Anyways, it was here that a very young Yamanji lived. He went about his days as most do before age ten. He thought nothing of life beyond the farms. Of the academy, nor the shattered remains of civilization. One night in full view of the moon, the village was raided. They are known by many names. Some call them Dunmer while others know then as Drow. But for your sake I'll call them Dark Elves.
  4.
  5. This race of umbra dancers are known for their magical prowess as well as their talents as modern covert operators. This was a mission for the younger Elves that were coming of age. Under the supervision of an Elder, they would sneak in, take what they want and leave without a trace. Now it is said that if you have something the Dark Elves want, be it food, information, memories, and even souls; they will take it. This raid was to kidnap minors and raise them as honorary Dark Elves. They went in, used their magic and poisons to put teens and adults to sleep and within minutes the elves were going through a quick selection process.
  6.
  7. A young and talented Elf walked along holding Yamanji’s hand. “Elder.” she said as she bowed her head to show respect. “I found a brother that appears suitable.” The Elder carefully looked the boy over and examined his features. She gave the young elf a nod and waved her away.
  8.
  9. “You have chosen your brother well, young Huntress. He is a fine choice. Raise him well.” She bowed her head and thanked the elder.
  10.
  11. “I thank you, Mistress. I will make him a fine shadow dancer.” Having been dismissed from the mission, she looked down at her brother and said “Come along Yamanji, we can go now.” So as the selection was coming to a close a total of thirteen children were taken that night. The villagers awoke the next morning to the horrifying reality of what had happened.
