  2. Sam's eyes widened. He didn't even have to say the "Oh Shit" that sprung to mind, but he did anyway. "... All things said and done girl, I'd say that's somethin you shoulda told me sooner, yeah." He said, taking off his own mask as he looked back behind her at her friend. "I think I'll need to call in my favors." He said, crushing that mask in his hands. Something began to come together in the darkness. She'd seen that titanic mask before, the one that had pulled her to this domain, as it materialized here in this dark, hopeless place. She saw it's limbs, the creature that had sprung from Sam's being taking place, limbs blacker than black... But that was never all of him. She'd see them form like scales, countless, infinite masks coming together, all of Samedi's friends coming together to protect him in that roiling maelstrom of blackness... The masks fit together like puzzle pieces, a great god forming in front of her as Sam's own body dissolved into shadow and was absorbed into the being, his own face becoming a leering mask at the heart of the titan's chest. "We all have friends." Sam said, with so many voices. "Some of us have more than others." the masks spoke, endless mouths yawning into blackened abyssian nightmares. "Let's see what you have girl. All of us, versus all that is you." They said. "For we are Iku. God of death on all worlds.... And you shall know despair." The ancient god, unworshipped since time immemorial, stood tall, and Morganna would understand. Every human's fear of the dark, every beings paranoia that they were being watched... this was the realization of that fear, the confirmation. Every shadow had a pair of eyes, and Samedi had called upon every one of them...
  3. (I can't find a terrifying mask entity.)

  5. Well, at least she didn't have to worry about being watched. She knew she was. "And what deal did you have to make with your 'friends'?" she wondered aloud, wings spreading wide so she could meet the ancient entity face to face, on its own playing field. "What did you give up to be able to hide behind that mask? What's been promised to yet be taken from you?" One hand slowly rotated to be in front of her face, palm forward towards Iku, her fingers uncurling until they were splayed wide. "Show me." The inexorable command was followed by innumerable magic wards blossoming behind her, the harsh violet light driving away the shadows (and yet they remained, refusing to budge, the Nexus continuing to defy all reason) before the air was filled with magical projectiles, solidified mana from the darkest heart of the Nexus swarming like hornets breaking the sound barrier and all screaming right for Samedi's first line of defense.

  7. A swarm of faces, each one different and unique spread like a fog before the deity, each mouth opening to swallow the mana spears, sacrificing themselves to protect the horrifying wall of visages before her. "I have promised Samedi that which he has been given; He is a living god upon his world. His grasp over death absolute. In return, his face is mine" Iku spoke with his billion voice chorus, the angry god's main face opening to show an infinite black abyss that soon lit up with the eldritch green of all the souls that Iku had swallowed. Rearing back, he disgorged them, each one adding to it's power, each soul of billions consumed to combine with the energy of the nexus to burn away the blackness, even if just for a moment. The beam of spiritual energy split the pillar of evil with a foulness all it's own as it aimed to swallow Morganna as well.
