  1. I nervously laid down on the medical table with the bend of my elbow facing to the sky. Man, I thought this donation thing was supposed to be less stressful. All I wanted to do was an average physical exam, but no, I had to say 'yes' to my doctor when she asked me if I was willing since I seemed healthy. My doctor is taking a little too long getting set up for this.
  2. "Are you allergic to iodine?" asked a semi-familiar voice.
  3. "No, just allergic to blood."
  4. "Was that supposed to be a joke?"
  5. "Yes... Anyway, just please don't miss my vein," I pleaded.
  6. "Oh no worries, I'm a trained professional," said the doctor with a satisfied smile, hinting the fact she was a vampire with those menacing fangs all dhampir and vampire have. She quickly rubs the iodine on my inner elbow and finishes prepping my arm. "Okay, now just give 3 squeezes on the stress ball and hold on the last one."
  7. Following her directions I had squeezed and held the ball which were followed by a small stab of pain in my arm. Looking down at my puncture I witnessed my blood flow through the small tube attached to me. 'Hey, does this make me look cool?' Immediately comes to mind as I watch the deep, red liquid pour into a plastic bag hidden under a machine. Instead I settle for "does this make me look like a cyborg?"
  8. "No, but it makes you look like a lifesaver," she says nonchalantly although she was in an obvious trance with the blood.
  9. "I look like candy?" I ask jokingly.
  10. "Your name is Anon right?" She asks as she checks my previously filled out form, "yeah, your name IS Anon, yes Anon, you look like candy."
  11. "Eye candy?"
  12. "I wouldn't push your luck kiddo."
  13. "I saw how you were staring at my arm, you were entranced, don't deny it you just have to be honest and maybe I'll forgive you." I say with a slight sarcastic tone.
  14. "How about I don't apologize and I make you pay extra for your physical?"
  15. "Fine, you win this battle. How long is this supposed to take? I read the paper and it said 10 minutes but it seems longer."
  16. "Anon, I seriously just put the needle in, you'll have to wait a little while longer. That and when you're done you will need to rest in our facilities before we release you."
  17. "What if I don't want to rest here? What if I have to go to work in say fifteen minutes?" I ask in a smartass tone.
  18. "Then you shouldn't have agreed in the first place."
  19. "Hey, I was forced into this. I felt guilt tripped into this by you!" I just wanted to have a simple physical done for my own reasons and she hinted how much of a "hero" I'd be if I'd donate blood.
  20. "Still you said yes and now you're hooked up to the machine. Also, if you dare to leave before resting for fifteen minutes I WILL drag you back in here." With this sentence the Vampire doctor seemed to appear very flustered and turned back to her personal computer to clack on the keyboard.
  21. Laying my head down on the pillow I begin to try the AMT (Applied Muscle Tension) to increase my blood flow. Eventually the time passes and I'm able to sit up and go "leave". You know what I'm just going to call her out on her bluff. Anyway as she guides me to the rest area she tells a nurse to keep an eye out in case I leave. Immediately after the vampire is gone I wave to my watching eye a good bye and walk out of the clinic.
  22. Later, as I'm sitting in a café close to the clinic drinking a black coffee. I see a person in scrubs with a white overcoat tromping down the sidewalk. I spit out my coffee as she spots me and points. I immediately ask the barista if they have a backdoor I can use. The barista just gives me a blank look and a wide mouth gaze, fuck I forgot Holstarus don't handle pressure well. I hear the customer bell on the door ring and spin around in horror as my doctor had followed me here and is now righteously pissed off at my decision to leave.
  23. "Found you! Didn't I tell you to stay in the resting room? But no, you had to go and leave!" The pissed off Vampire's face grows redder and redder.
  24. As these words escape her mouth the Vampire stomps over to me and grabs me by the collar and literally is dragging me. I give little resistance as I know I have been caught. All that is left is the earful I'm going to get, oh boy here we go.
  25. After being brought back to the clinic and dragged to the resting room I sit in a chair staring at the still very pissed off Vampire. Her face is now the same shade of red as my blood was. Damn she's genuinely pissed off.
  26. "Anon! I told you that I would drag you back here! Why did you still insist on leaving!?" She shouts.
  27. "It was a test to see if you were true to your word really. Why is this so serious anyway? I feel fine and you saw how far I made it without fainting." I protest.
  28. "Do you really want to know why I am trying my best to make sure you enjoy your time donating? It's because we don't have a lot of humans that donate blood, without human blood, we can't really perform surgeries on humans now can we?"
  29. "I feel like you have another motive for wanting me to come back here. It's okay, did this piece of eye candy catch yours? *cue the dual hand pistol point and a cheesy wink*"
  30. "Of course not! You have been a hassle ever since you came here today!" She says all huffed and puffed but with a different shade of red on her face.
  31. After leaving the clinic for the final time after waiting, I check a prescription that the doctor had written out for me. I find a series of numbers with the text.
  32. "Call me <3"
