  6. Individual: Solving Personal Problems
  7. I’ll begin my introduction by giving a brief description of the “Five-Step Model” (Jankowski, circa 2015). The steps are rather simple, when you break them down to their core meaning. First, identify the problem. Second, identify any underlying problems, anything possibly unforeseen. Third, weigh the pros and cons. Fourth, identify your solution, and apply it. Fifth, reflect on how the solution is working for you (Chaffee, 2009).
  8.
  9. I will now move forward from that segment, and transition into what the assignment is actually about. We were required to pick a topic from four different options. In a weird sense of irony, all of the topics seemed to be redundant, because one relied heavily on the other. I reluctantly agreed to do this assignment. I give you the result.

  11. I’ll pick education, because that’s incredibly original, and I am 100% certain that you haven’t had to read about 10 of these based on the same topic already. I identified that I wasn’t happy with my current level of education, only having a high school diploma, and Universal EPA License wasn’t fulfilling me as a human being.
  12.
  13. I also wanted the money, fame, and glory that comes with being a computer software programmer. I wanted the women, the drugs, and alcohol. With these things in mind, I had successfully completed steps one and two of the “Five-Step Model” (Jankowski, circa 2015). There was little planning left, so I got right to it.
  14.
  15. I knew now that the only thing to do was weigh my pros and cons. What were my consequences, what were my rewards? I would have to venture far west, farther than any man had done before on his own. I would be leaving Suzy to tend the farm in my absence. With Cholera running rampant in our settlement, I knew there was a risk that I would never see her or our child again. But, with my Dysentery under control, I set off on horseback, knowing that without an education I would never be able to provide for my family properly.
  16.
  17. The solution was simple, put them behind me, focus on my future, they were dead to me while I was on the inside. How was I, but a young inner-city youth, to make it out the penitentiary, and be able to contribute to society? I knew I had to study hard, apply myself 100%, do whatever it took to make it in school. That’s exactly what I did, I am set to get my associates in 2019, just in time to see young Tyrrell get out of prison himself.
  18.
  19. Looking back on all of this, I am happy I was able to make it in the pod before my planet exploded. Things are going great on Chronos VII, we have finally found peace as a human race. There are no more illnesses, no more violence, no more reaping’s. Reflection is an important part of critical thinking, and with scientific advances, I was able to be “jacked” into the system. This opened my mind fully, allowed me to process problems faster than the fastest computer processor. It was only then, did I realize that school was a waste of time for me.
