  1. Vesi was born in the city of New Phoenix to the middle class couple Jareth and Nala on October 8th 2528. Growing up Vesi was an average child, he didn't excel in school or anything extracurricular. Sure there would be an assignment or two with a high grade and a key play in sports but outside of that he couldn't be picked put of a crowd. Both his mother and father worked for Traxus Heavy Industries. His father would seem to always be working but would never fail to find time for his family while his mother would always seem to be late for everything. After graduating high school and turning nineteen Vesi's parents told him some wonderful news, they were moving to New Mombasa due to their work. Only having know Phoenix for all of his life he was excited, but also was full of hatred for his parents bringing him away from what he has known for all of his life. A week after the news had came and his goodbyes reluctantly said they were packed up and on their way to their new "home". After what felt like an eternity to him they had finally arrived at what would be their new home. His reluctancy was gone once he had seen the ocean next to his new home, he was awestruck at the beauty and vastness of it. He was quickly disappointed again to learn that they weren't close to the ocean, they weren't even close to the city, the house they had moved to was miles upon miles inland in Old Mombasa. Again full of hatred he refused to leave the house even after a month of them arriving in their new house. One day he was finally persuaded to leave the house by both of his parents because of the genuine concern they had expressed, he took special interest in his mother's concern. After leaving the house he was bombarded by the smells, sounds, and feel of the outside world first giving him an initial shock but he soon overcame it. Despite being isolated for a month from the outside world he still felt the need to go to the ocean and marvel at the beauty of it again. The problem soon arose on how he would get there because even with a Warthog or a Spade it would take him half a day to get to the nearest shore front and half a day to get back home. Determined to see the ocean again he would try to devise plans on how he would would get there and back within a reasonable time, after months of planning he could only find one conclusion, he needs a Hog or Spade. His parents now worried with his new found obsession decided to use their connections at work to get him a job with them at Traxus to get him closer to his goal and to keep his mind on work. He jumped at the idea due to the fact that he would be working in the Kikowani district which was next to the seawall. his parents were thrilled to hear the idea and were relieved that he would give up his obsession with the ocean. He soon found his work to be painstaking and monotonous as he oversaw and completed manufacturing work. Despite the efforts of Traxus to remove his spirit he stayed in good spirits for one reason, the ocean. Everyday on his break without hesitation he would go up to the top of the sea wall and look out across the vastness of it and see it glisten in the sunlight. After a year of working Vesi decided it is time for him to be on his own and found himself a house closer to work while his parents who didn't want to be far from him found a place in Sector B. He ended up staying at Traxus for five years and had moved his way up in the ranks and was soon overseeing many projects while also holding down a modest life for himself. Not even two weeks after he had turned twenty-five the unthinkable happens, the Covenant had invaded Earth. The day started out as any other for Vesi, he had finished the first day's half of work and he went for his daily walk up the sea wall to see the beautiful ocean. After a few minutes a shadow had loomed over his view and he was quickly irritated by this. He looked up to see what was causing his view to be obstructed, to his surprise it was Phantoms, waves of Phantoms. He was almost frozen with fear and couldn't believe that this was happening. Among all of the thoughts rushing through his head the most important one screamed out at him, survive. With the thought getting louder and louder he broke into a sprint and just ran and didn't stop. Subconsciously he found himself running to his parent's house because when a man thinks he is going to die where would he go but home. After running for hours through city streets the situation grew worse and worse, more Covenant were roaming the streets and he had to sneak past through many alleyways that took him almost away from his destination. After what must have been four hours he had finally arrived as his parents house without incident but to his dismay it was empty. In a panic he began to search the house and finally found a clue that they may be hiding out in one of the nearby office buildings. My quickly weaving through the nearby streets he found a series of buildings they could have been hiding them and to his luck he saw others running into one not far from him. Taking his chances he bolted into the building and to his surprise found only a small handful of survivors, after looking through them he saw his parents. Overcome with job and relief he rushed to them and hugged both of them only to pass out from exhaustion shortly afterwards. A deafening sound of explosions and wrenching metal can be heard rousing Vesi fro his exhausted stupor and awakens to see everyone outside with looks of on their face. He rushed outside to see what can only be described as pure chaos, buildings were burning and falling to pieces but this wasn't even the worst of it. The Orbital Elevator has begun to fall and it fell hard. Cargo and metal had began falling from the sky and had begun scattering all over the city, he couldn't tell but it looked as if it was falling in their direction. He quickly realized that it wasn't his imagination and yelled for everyone to run but it was no use. Pieces of the elevator had already begun falling around them bringing even more destruction. The falling pieces hitting the buildings caused them to crumble completely raining fire and concrete on the small group of survivors. Those where were not crushed by concrete were engulfed in flames, among those were Vesi and his parents. They were separated by waves of fire and were unable to reach each other as debris fell all around them. Vesi was distressed at the thought of losing his parents and did his best to brave the fire to reach them. As he attempted to brave the searing flames he reached his right arm through causing it be burned severely. The sensation of the flames caused him to recoil in pain unable to advance any further. He gave a look of pure terror into the eyes of his parents as he saw a piece of building fall right on top of them. Distressed by what he had just seen he tried pressing on through the fire once more he began with his right arm again only to be burned even more causing him to recoil in pain once again. Unable to get to what is now the remains of his parents he listened to the only thought in his head, survive. He ran while clutching his arm trying to get as far away as he could from the tragedy he just witnessed but he didn't get far before passing out from exhaustion once more. Next thing he knew he woke up in a UNSC medbay being treated by a few corpsman. He asked what happened and they told him they were making their way to their evac and they noticed him lying on the ground mumbling to himself about something they couldn't make out. They were able to get him to walk with their help and managed to get him to safety. They told him his arm suffered from third degree burns and they could try to make it more presentable than it was but he told them to leave it be and only do what they had to do to get it working again. They treated his arm and placed it in a sling after they had bandaged it and proceeded to check on it for a few weeks. It was soon found out that he was in a medbay in a temporary base somewhere in the Tsavo region after talking to a few of the other patients. It wasn't long after his partial recovery that the war had followed him here, he could hear orders being shouted and he was brought to a different part of the base he was in along with other-non critical patients. It wasn't long before we could hear the combat drawing closer of rifles and Covenant weaponry. After hearing the fighting for a while something happened, there was the sound of a ship flying overhead then what sounded like the world was ending. There was the the sounds of explosions all over the region and it nearly deafened him. Then there was silence, the silence didn't last and soon another ship could be heard flying above but then the next sound he heard started a series of sounds that unsettled him the most. The ground quaked as what he could only assume was the ship crashing into the ground. As soon as the crash was heard widespread panic was heard throughout the base and Marines were screaming incomprehensible things, but one phrase breached the chorus of sound, "Stay back! You're not turning me into one of those things!". Those with him in the room including himself begin to visibly panic and tired to leave the room in an attempt to find somewhere safer, an attempt to survive. As the group left the room what they was was absolutely terrifying, they saw these small creatures latching themselves onto the Marines and doing something to them, they were turning them into even more of those creatures. Those who could run tried to while the others limped away. Unlike the others Vesi was frozen in fear as the events unfolded in front of him. What he witnessed was trained men and women screaming as their comrades turned into monsters, it wasn't until he saw a Marine using a flamethrower to eradicate these creatures that he was able to move. At the sihgt of the fire he began to run only to be cut off by one of those things moving itself inside of one of those that were in the room with them. He turned and ran the opposite direction towards the fighting with only one thought in mind, survive. As he ran towards the marines he noticed he wasn't the only one, those things were chasing after him and they seemed to gaining. He had somehow managed to make it to the defense that the Marines were mounting only to find they they were overrun and they were losing, how could someone defeat an enemy that can use your dead against you. With the position soon being overrun those things had begun to turn more and more marines, including the one using the flamethrower. With the main hindrance incapacitated they seemed to advance as if there was nothing opposing them. He stood frozen in fear as he saw these men and women that are supposed to be our front line of defense falling like dominoes, except they weren't staying down. While frozen in fear he had is eyes trained on one thing, the flamethrower, such a device could produce the same thing that killed all he knew but also be the thing that saves him. At this point he couldn't tell if he was yelling it or if it was in his head, but one thing came into mind. SURVIVE. With this thought his body bolted towards the flamethrower through the chaos that ensued around him. He proceeded to pick up the flamethrower and nearly toppled over at its weight at first. He wasn't going to let his chance at survival be stopped by something as trivial as weight. He took the sling off of his bandaged arm and proceeded to use it to assist in him lifting and holding the flamethrower. He then reeled around hoisting the weapon with his right arm and holding the trigger with his left and aimed right at the creatures before him. "See you in hell" He stated as he pulled the trigger and loosed the weapon's breath upon his foes almost losing his balance in the process from the sheer power. Using the flamethrower and trying his best to keep up with the marines he tried his best to help them defend as much as possible. After burning what seemed to be endless enemies he noticed that he was alone, in his blaze of glory the marines had fallen back for evacuation. With this realization he dropped the flamethrower to the floor and began to run through the base. He manages to find a marine that is making his way to the evac and follows him as best as he can. One of the smaller creatures appears as he is following the marine and proceeds to infect him. From what the marine said as they ran before he was infected the evac was straight ahead, the only problem is now that marine was now one of those things and in his way. Vesi knew that if he stopped he would be dead so he did the only thing he knew how to do, he ran. He was able to outmaneuver and make it past the infected marine but not without attracting unwanted attention. As he ran more of the creatures had ended up behind him as if they knew that he was the one that burned so many of them. As he ran he soon saw his goal, it was a Pelican at a landing pad with a squad of six marines aiming down the hallway. He soon noticed the marines had taken up firing positions and had ordered him to hit the. Ask he dove to the ground he landed on his arm causing him to writhe in pain as a flurry of bullets flew down the hall slowing but not stopping the creatures. When the flurry stopped he struggled back to his feet and ran towards the marines and was told to go straight for the Pelican. As he stepped aboard the pelican he looked out and saw what can only be described as a hole in the sky above a giant crater. The marines soon piled on to the Pelican and he noticed that only four had gotten aboard. Everyone was silent until after takeoff where Vesi said while looking at his arm then at the marines, "I lost my family to fire, I want to join my new one through it."
