  1. "Happy Birthday, Starlight!" you said to your favorite pony
  2. >She didn't seem to notice you and kept walking
  3. >You caught up, clutching her gift under your arm
  4. >You'd scrounged up some cash and got her a book on magic
  5. >Not just any book, it was an illegally-made copy of a 2700 year old book of "practical" magic
  6. >Back when practical included being able to defend your village from dragons and shit
  7. >It took weeks of bribing guards to let you into Celestia's archives to write down everything in that ancient tome
  8. >After that you put it all into a nice hardback book for her
  9. >You hoped she liked it
  10. "Hey Starry, I got you something." you said as you caught up with her
  11. >She continued to ignore you, maybe she didn't hear?
  12. "Starry?"
  13. >"Don't call me that, human."
  14. "I got you a present for your birthday."
  15. >She stopped and looked at the book with a mild interest
  16. >"Maybe there's a spell in here to get you to leave me alone." she smirked
  17. "Haha, I'd hope not."
  18. >She put the book in her saddlebags and continued walking
  19. >You followed
  20. "So I was thinking we could go check out that new neighponnese restaurant later, I'll pay."
  21. >Starlight didn't hear you
  22. >Maybe you should've gotten her a hearing aid
  23. >"Oh. I have plans with, uh... I think maybe Twilight. Sorry."
  24. >Starlight disappeared in a flash
  25. >It sure was nice having a friend here in Equestria, these ponies sure were mean
  26. >But not Starry, she was one of the good ones
  27.
  28. >She left you standing in the street, teleporting off like that
  29. >A stallion bumped into you and growled
  30. >"Watch where you're going, asshole."
  31. "Sorry."
  32. >You should probably head home
  33. >It was right around the block
  34. >A short walk later left you at your shack's door
  35. >Home sweet home
  36. >It wasn't nearly as nice as some of the places you'd seen but it was what you could afford and it was pretty cozy with the furnishings you'd added
  37. >You walked in and crashed on the couch which doubled as your bed
  38. >You'd take a nap and then go for a sunset walk
  39. >Maybe Starlight would want to come
  40. >That'd be nice
  41. >You pulled the blanket over you and slowly slipped into the self-loathing coma you'd later call a power nap
  42. >When you woke up, the sun was setting, time for that walk
  43. >A walk through the park would clear up your mind
  44. >The dirt path led around a lake to your favorite secluded bench
  45. >It was hidden in an alcove formed by a willow tree right on the lake's shore
  46. >As you watched a group of ducks tread across the lake, you heard two familiar voices talking
  47. >"Twilight, do I have to be friends with him? Isn't there anypony else?"
  48. >"You know as well as I do that he doesn't have any friends. He really likes you, Star."
  49. >"I don't care, I can't stand him. I'd rather go back to being in hiding than be his friend. See? Look at this, he got me some stupid spellbook for my birthday."
  50. >"Oh right, happy birthday. But still, he obviously cares about you."
  51. >"That doesn't matter, I couldn't care less about him, Twi. He's so... just weird. And annoying. And just too much to list."
  52. >"Starlight, he got you this spellbook?"
  53. >"Yeah, I didn't really do much more than glance at it."
  54. >"Not everypony can be perfect, or even good. But I know Anon is really a nice creature without a friend in the world."
  55. >"If he were really nice, he'd have friends. I swear, one day he's going to snap and murder somepony."
  56. >The voices cut out as they finally walked out of earshot
  57. >What do you even do with this?
  58.
  59. >A snap of a twig brings your attention from the surface of the lake
  60. >Starlight and Twilight walked into the alcove to sit on the bench
  61. >Both are staring at you in shock
  62. >"S-so, Anon, you alright. What are you doing out here." Twilight asks nervously
  63. "Overhearing more than I'd wanted to."
  64. >Starlight backs off a bit
  65. >Your gaze travels back to the lake, the sun reflecting off of it
  66. >"Are you alright?"
  67. "I guess I should've seen it from a mile away. I was just happy to have a friend."
  68. >"Anon..."
  69. "My birthday was three months ago, I asked you and your friends if you'd join me out for dinner, I ate alone that night at a big, empty table."
  70. >You turn towards Twiggy and Star
  71. "I can't even be mad. I'm just disappointed that you kept it secret for whatever reason."
  72. >Starlight climbs up onto the bench next to you
  73. >"Anon I'm sor-"
  74. "You're sorry I heard what you said. If I annoy you so much, why not leave me all together?"
  75.
  76. Enter Starlight
  77. >You didn't really like Anon but this was a whole different side of him
  78. >What really unnerved you about this was his lack of emotion, almost like he already knew deep down
  79. >Regardless, the next morning you didn't see him
  80. >Nor that afternoon, lunch break was lonely without him
  81. >Nor did you see him on the walk from work
  82. >You passed by his shack to check up on him
  83. >It was mostly empty
  84. >The big furniture was around, but the small things were gone
  85. >You slowly opened the door
  86. >He left a note attached to the wall across from the door
  87. >'I thought about it, I can't stay in a place where my friendship is a burden and my presence is a nuisance, I know when I'm not wanted. Onward to brighter horizons. ~Anonymous'
  88. >You can't really say you miss him all that much in the end
  89. >You didn't really care enough to go looking for him, either
  90. >You found a few new friends and moved on
  91.
  92. >Be Twilight
  93. >It's been awhile since Anon's disappearance
  94. >honestly it eats you up a little inside that you couldn't mend a friendship with Anon, but you guess this is just another friendship lesson
  95. >Some ponies just don't mesh well with humans
  96. >You just hope wherever he is now is better
  97. >Starlight is getting better albeit slowly
  98. >then you get a letter from Celestia
  99. >but that's wrong
  100. >You only have a friendly exchange with Celestia on Tuesdays
  101. >it'shappening.jpg
  102. >After a quick panic attack you read the goddamn letter
  103. >itisn'thappening.png
  104. >Well, you guess it's for the better
  105. >Celestia wants you to run a little errand for her, because tax payers money for the Royal guard wouldn't be a waste if they actually fucking did something
  106. >Town's gone silent
  107. >Bureaucrats gone oogie spoogy
  108. >So it's up to you now, Twiglot sprigle and the rest of the Mane 6+1
  109.
  110.
  111. >Be Born again Starlight
  112. >Makin friends an shit
  113. >Well sort of
  114. >Still a douche but your working on it
  115. >Now on the friendship express with your six aquantances
  116. >It's kinda awkward, but you're tryin
  117. >passing through the arid desert to the edge of nowhere
  118. >On a mission from Celly D in the sky herself
  119. >Quick and easy
  120. >Check out a town
  121. >Ask question and the haps
  122. >Giggle at the ghosties
  123. >Candy in the bag
  124. >Train though only takes you so far before you got to walk
  125. ><><><><Walk cycle><><><><><
  126. >It's a while before you hit a hill with a large rock at the top
  127. >below is a village
  128. >well actually it's not just a village, it's your village
  129. >your precious village where everything was perfectly tits
  130. >triggered.gif
  131. >They betrayed you in favor their-
  132. >Shiet hold on Starlight, get a hold of yourself
  133. >It's fine, it alright...
  134. >Just gotta not...
  135. >You sigh and walk with your friend down to the town
  136. >Only now you get a good look at everything
  137. >Cobwebs and tumbleweeds everywhere
  138. >The place is dead and deserted
  139. >Except for sound of rickety wood creaking every second
  140. >You all approach the noise when you hear a confident smirk
  141. >"Well well well, look at what we got here"
  142.
  143. >Oh know
  144. >Not him
  145. >You get a better glimpse of a rocking chair outside the town hall and see his smug mug
  146. >Rainbow Dash was probably about to say something stupid when you beat her to the punch
  147. "What did you do to my town!?"
  148. >"Yeah, what she said"
  149. >Anon snickers to himself, continuing to rock in that stupid chair
  150. >You walk up closer to him
  151. "Hey, answer me"
  152. >"Yeah, answer her"
  153. >"That's a lot of implying you did there"
  154. >Twilight quirked a brow more curious then the others for the truth
  155. >"Then what did happen?"
  156. >Anon takes a deep breathe
  157. >Then exhales
  158. >"Well, that story starts a long time ago..."
  159. >Then takes another deep breath
  160. >Then exhales
  161. >Then leans back into his chair and inhales
  162. >He leans and rocks his chair
  163. >And then exhales
  164. >You sit down
  165. >Then inhales
  166. >is he fucking serous?
  167. >Then exhales
  168. >you poke at a rock
  169. >Then inhales
  170. >The rest of your friends are watching anon with dull eyes
  171. >Then you hear snoring
  172. >Rarity rolls her eyes
  173. >She uses her magic to tip the rocking chair over too hard
  174. >"Gah fuck a mother
  175. >Anon falls to the ground
  176. >"Whoa what happened?"
  177. >Rainbow Dash facehoofs
  178. >"You were telling us what happened to the town"
  179. >"oh yeah, sure, but how bout I fix you girls a little something to eat first.Girls must be starving"
  180. "No Anon, we-"
  181. >"Sure"
  182. >Applejack's stomach took its chance to vocalize its complaint with a loud growl
  183. >All eyes were now on Applejack
  184. >"What? I ain't ashamed of havin needs."
  185. >"Well then, it sounds like I'll be making some chow. You girls come inside with me, and I'll make some soup sandwiches"
  186. >There's collective groan
  187.
  188. >The interior of the house was nothing special
  189. >Only a small cabin with a kitchen and a main room
  190. >There wasn't much need for a personal sanctuary when everypony was equal and had nothing to withhold from each other... except you of course
  191. >You gathered at a dining table at the center of the shack with your friends and sat together
  192. >Anon bustled over to the corner kitchen where a large pot was already sitting on the stove
  193. >He flicked the light on and started opening random drawers and grabbing things at random
  194. >The room was considerably spartan without all your posters preaching the benefits of being a good friend to others
  195. >This is probably what caused Rarity to grimace after sitting up in her seat
  196. >"Well isn't this just... cozy"
  197. >"Well, I've been hoping to spruce up the place, but never really bothered when I have time. It's a shame I didn't ask, Miss Open Spaces to do something about it. She told me she had a knack for feng shui"
  198. >Rainbow Dash narrowed her eyes
  199. >"Yeah, what did happen to this Miss Open Spaces. That's a pretty big pot you've got their. Big enough to fit a pony or two."
  200. >Pinkie gasps loudly "I know exactly what's going on"
  201. >"He's an evil enchanter and he.... uh... does evil banters... and if you look into his eyes... ummm... hold on for second"
  202. >Anon though just does one of his annoying hearty chuckle
  203. >"Heh Heh Heh, ahhhh. No Pinkie, this is just my special leftover surprise"
  204. >"With an extra helping of chunky ponies?"
  205. >Anon lift pinkie off his head and out of his smiling face and gently sets her on the ground
  206. >"No, no, It's just soup. Now let me cook you some grub"
  207. >Pinkie dragged her hooves over to her seat, while Twilight cleared her throat
  208. >"Soo, of all places for you to leave Ponyville, I didn't expect you to end here."
  209. >"Oh really, where would you have seen me more?"
  210. >"I don't know. Maybe somewhere with more ponies."
  211. >"Well, this place did have plenty of pony folks when I got here."
  212.
  213. "So, what. happened?"
  214. >You were practically simmering in your seat
  215. >"Welp, it all started with a little town called Ponyville. Tried making friends there and looked to settle down. After it was made very clear to me, I was unwanted, I decided to head out."
  216. >Your friends
  217. >"Well, let's not be harsh, darling, nopony disliked you. You were a nice human, but... er... how do I say this..."
  218. >"Yeah, it wus uhm... I dunno..."
  219. >Anon gave a soft smile
  220. >"Oh don't worry Rarity, I know we never clicked, nor you Applejack or you Rainbow Dash, or well anypony. But the one time I really tried, I thought I'd help a pony make another friend she might really need, but as at turned out, she was very apposed to me being her friend."
  221. >Why do you feel like shit right now?
  222. >You shouldn't be feeling bad
  223. >"She really didn't like me, so I thought I'd head on out so I don't cause her any more grief than she's already got. By the way, Glimmy, have you made anymore friends?"
  224. >Ugh shit
  225. >Twilight's rubbing the back of her head, but now the rest of your friend's easily put two and two together
  226. >Now everypony was giving you a condescending look
  227. >You just have to bear with it with a nervous smile
  228. "Oh, I uh, started doing book talks with Colegate."
  229. >"Well, that's nice. Oh and when you get back, be sure to help out that Derpy gal. She's a real nice gal and if you'd give her a hoof, I'm sure she'd really appreciate it."
  230. "Um sure, so you left Ponyville"
  231. >"Yup, I left Ponyville and headed on a one way ticket to nowhere. And out in the desert I found this little old place here. Pony folk were happy and loved each other, but the place was falling apart. I came in and offered a hand, and well one thing became the next, and I was practically running the place."
  232. "Really? They trusted you with the entire town"
  233. >"Yup. These ponies were a different bunch I'll tell you that. They loved ponies, or well now, people who were different. Especially since I was different."
  234.
  235. >Well this is unexpected
  236. >You weren't really onboard with the thought that Anon was a pony eating monster, but it made more since than this happening
  237. >Pinkie piped up
  238. >"So where are all the ponies now?"
  239. >"They all left."
  240. "Left?"
  241. >"Yup"
  242. "Where? Why?"
  243. >"Well, after about a week, I started really talking to these ponies, and they were happy, but they weren't the settling type."
  244. >"Say again?"
  245. >Anon looked over at you
  246. >"Starlight when you gathered all these ponies to this town, you gathered ponies who were young, and accepting and full of life. They had things they want to do. Places to go, horizons to seek. One 'dude' wanted to ski differant mountains, one girl wanted to start a bakery in Manehattan, one after another, they belonged somewhere else."
  247. >"And so they just all left on their own"
  248. >"They needed some encouragement and I'm always happy to help a pony in need."
  249. >He chuckles, before putting on some weird impression
  250. >"DO IT!!"
  251. >He stands with his legs open and swings his arms down
  252. >"JUST DO IT! DON'T LET YOUR DREAMS BE DREAMS!!"
  253. "Okay, okay we get it..."
  254. >"YESTERDAY YOU SAID TOMORROW, SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??!! JUST, DO IT!!"
  255. >Now he's pacing doing random squats
  256. "Okay, we get it!"
  257. >"heh, well, needless to say they all went chasing their dreams and eventually the rest were looking for better homes since the community just about dried"
  258. >Anon was now cutting up bread loaves when Rainbow Dash tilted her head
  259. >"If everypony's' gone, then why are you still here?"
  260. >Anon was starting set out plates when he stopped
  261. >"I don't know. I think I'm just tired."
  262. >He goes back to setting up plates in the kitchen
  263. >"Ever since I came to Equestria, I've always had less and less energy. It's always getting hardy to get out of bed. It's always a lot of work talking and chit chatting. I'm in my mid thirties, but I always feel like I came back from marathon."
  264. >Twilight looks worried
  265. >"Anon, are-"
  266. >"This probably no 5 star meal, but I think it's my finest yet"
  267.
  268. >Anon set down seven plates of bread bowl with tomato soup inside, squished into a sandwhich wide shape
  269. >"Bon Appetit. If you need me, I'll be back in my chair. Feel free to serve yourself seconds."
  270. >Everypony looks at Anon leave the house
  271. >You shrug before going to your soup sandwich
  272.
  273. >Soup sandwich was pretty alright
  274. >You and the girls were eating away when Fluttershy spoke up
  275. >"So Twilight what happens now?"
  276. >Twilight finishes her bite, "well, I there's obviously no trouble here, so there's nothing keeping us here. We should definitely tell Celestia and Canterlot that there isn't a town here anymore. So we can leave whenever we want"
  277. >Applejack looked out the front window
  278. >Orange rays cascade over the arid desert leaving lingering warmth over the sand
  279. >"Shoot, it's almost sundown, so no point in leaving now. We should hang around till tomorrow morning.”
  280. >Fluttershy looked over to the bed by the back wall
  281. >”I’m sure Anon will let us stay the night.”
  282. >Twilight steps down from her seat
  283. >”well then, it looks like we have a plan. We should be out of here by tomorrow. Sorry I dragged you all down here just for a little road trip.”
  284. “Don’t worry Twilight. I actually appreciate this. It feels… well…”
  285. >Twilight looks at you with concern
  286. >”Starlight…”
  287. “I’m fine. I’m actually, very… content. At least those ponies were happy.”
  288. >tbqh you feel like shit
  289. >The ponies really didn’t want to stay and all it took was one chimping out to motivate ponies to seek the dreams you’ve apparently been holding them from
  290. >shit mang
  291. >You've got to take a minute to think on this one
  292.
  293. “Anon”
  294. >Be book horse
  295. >your sitting next to a rocking chair where a huge, green, hairless ape is choking himself in his sleep
  296. >Or at least that’s what it sounds like
  297. >Your suddenly reminded why the state paid for soundproof anon’s house
  298. >You didn’t know anyone with snoring problems as bad as him
  299. “Anon!”
  300. >You still don’t reach him
  301. >You start shaking his hand around
  302. >”Arghh, get this hothead… yawwwww… out of here…”
  303. “Anon wake up”
  304. >”ugh”
  305. >And with a groan the sleeping giant finally blinks his eyes
  306. >He slowly stretches his arms and back up straight before slouching back down
  307. >Finally he turns to you
  308. >”Oh hey Twilight”
  309. “Hi Anon, do you mind letting us stay in the town for the night?”
  310. >He blinks before nodding his head
  311. >”Sure sure. There’s actually the communes house where a couple beds are. Let help you put the sheets on the them.”
  312. >He gets up and starts walking off the wooden porch scratching his back
  313. >You follow alongside him at a slow pace
  314. “Soo, how long were you here by yourself”
  315. >”I think it’s been about two weeks”
  316. “Two weeks? All by yourself!?”
  317. >”Yup”
  318. “Weren’t you lonely?”
  319. >”You can bet your left ass cheek I was, but it gives me plenty of time to relax. It takes a lot of effort to do shit.”
  320. >You think back to Ponyville
  321. >It’s been three years since Anon’s arrived, and he’s been gone for about eight months
  322. >Before he would always yell and jump, skip, hop
  323. >He was always trying to be nice, but never meshed well
  324. >He’d be cracking jokes about big guys, sexual innuendos, and very weird references
  325. >sometimes just being a smarmy, witty asshole, but overall a nice guy
  326. >But now, it’s pretty clear something’s wrong
  327.
  328. >We enter a cabin across from Anon’s house
  329. >He gestured his hand open in the air
  330. >”Mi casa, su casa”
  331. >You don’t understand, but smile along with it
  332. >He opens the, apparently unlocked, door and eight small jail cells are lined the room
  333. “You said this was the ‘communes house’”
  334. >”Well it ain’t much a prison when all the cell doors are off the hinges”
  335. >True to his word, the doors were gone only leaving a couple bars
  336. “All the other houses are in disrepair, haven’t gotten to them yet, but here we got enough perfectly good beds”
  337. >He walks over to the sheriff’s desk and take out a bunch of linens from under there
  338. >You telekinetically take them from his arms and start laying them out on all the beds
  339. >It only takes a second to make them look neat, before Anon suddenly leans on the desk
  340. “Are you okay?”
  341. >”I’m fine. I’m fine.”
  342. >You are a Princess of Equestria
  343. >You’re special talent is in magic and friendship
  344. >You have three mother-fucking PhD’s
  345. >And this nigga gonna say nothing’s wrong?
  346. >Unless he grows some wings and gets crowned a princess that shit don’t fly here
  347. >You roll your eyes and start a scanning spell
  348. >Anon is surprisingly still and doesn’t resist at all, opting to sit down
  349. >A scanning spell isn’t difficult or long, but Anon is a special case so you took your time
  350. >What you found was well…. Not great
  351.
  352. fuck I'm slow at writing
  353.
  354. >Something is definitely wrong
  355. “Anon, you’re running out of magic”
  356. >”Damn, looks like those coin tricks were just out of my level”
  357. “No really Anon this is bad”
  358. >”Twilight I don’t exactly cast spells”
  359. “Yes, but just living is an act of magic. Not a lot, but it’s still a leak. And you aren’t getting enough back in to cover over that leak”
  360. >Anon’s quiet for a while
  361. >It’s a couple minutes of silence as you try to think of some solution for him
  362. >Anon’s skin is resistant to most equestrian magic, but maybe there’s a zebra potion he can start to take from now on. Maybe if-
  363. >”Alright”
  364. >You snap out of your musing
  365. “Alright?”
  366. >”Yup, it’s okay. I probably already figured”
  367. “But we have to do something. We can find a cure surely with the help of the Princesses and all of Canterlot-“
  368. >”Twilight I really don’t care”
  369. >He starts to stand up and dust himself off
  370. “No, we have…”
  371. >”No, we don’t.”
  372. >He leans forward
  373. >You start to speak when he uses a finger to shush you
  374. >”Twilight I spent the better have of a year looking for my place in this world, and now I have, and I fulfilled that purpose. I’m done living out a life without any sort of contact. I’m done with walking in towns and ponies ignoring me, cowering before me, or just outright being disrespectful. I’m just glad that the last place I lived in had some actual individuals willing to get to know me enough to listen when I speak or respond when I call. Princesses already told me I have a snowflake’s chance in hell of going home. Without that I don’t have anypony to go to or anywhere to go.”
  375. >He sighs and stands up tall
  376. >”I’d rather be content making this my home then continues to be a disturbance to others who clearly don’t want me.”
  377. >He starts walking for the door leaving you to think of some response
  378. >He stops for a moment before he exits
  379.
  380. >”Oh and uh, don’t tell the rest of the girls this. I don’t need them to get worried for my case”
  381. >You bite you lip, but nod
  382. >He smiles and waves, before walking over to his cabin
  383. >Think Twilight think. You gotta come up with something
  384.
  385. >The way the moon was arranged that night was perfect
  386. >The moonlight gave the small village ambiance of peace and comfort
  387. >After a good meal and some ghost stories the girls went to their beds to rest for the hike back to the nearest town they had tommorow
  388. >All the girls walked to their cells, except two
  389. “So Twilight what did you have to tell me that you couldn’t in front of the girls?”
  390. >Be Starlight Glimmer
  391. >”Starlight, I have something very important you need to do.”
  392. >Now you were suspicious
  393. “What?”
  394. >”Could you talk to Anon for a bit?”
  395. “Why?”
  396. >”Oh I just think he could use the company.”
  397. “Okay, I guess.”
  398. >”Just try talking about something he knows, like the human world.”
  399. “Why don’t you just talk to him”
  400. >”Well I’ve tried to talk to him, but every time he just thinks he’s being a burden and doesn’t like to hear his own voice. When it’s you, he’s probably going to talk because he wants to be your friend”
  401. >This was… very overly complicated, but makes sense
  402. “Alright then. I guess I’ll go over there now.”
  403. >”Thanks Starlight, this’ll mean a lot to Anon”
  404. >You raise an eyebrow at the odd request and behavior, but Twilight wasn’t exactly a normal pony
  405. >You sigh before turning and looking for the hairless ape
  406. >It was a short walk to his cabin, but it looks like he doesn’t even bother sleeping in his bed. Instead he was wrapped in a heavy blanket on his rocking chair
  407. “Anon, are you awake?”
  408. >Please don’t say anything
  409. >”Yup. I’m awake.”
  410. >Fuck a bitch
  411. “So, me and the girls are leaving tomorrow, but I just wanted to ask you something real quick before I go to bed.”
  412. >”Shoot”
  413. “What’s it like on earth?”
  414. >He takes a long deep breath
  415. >”If I’m going to tell you about life on Earth, you need to know a couple things”
  416. >He hunches over on an arm of his chair
  417. >”First, let me tell you about niggers”
  418.
  419. >The once blackened night was broken into glorious layers of purple hues retreating against the soft orange glow of the sun
  420. >It was odd being a princess of equestria
  421. >Physically speaking, you were capable of shattering though mountain
  422. >Magically speaking, you were capable of burning oceans
  423. >Intellectually speaking, you were a master of all areas of science and magic
  424. >But here you were
  425. >trapped
  426. >your legs locked and your muscles didn't obey your command
  427. >there was no harsher reality than that of a Monday morning
  428. >Le_obese_feline.jpg
  429. >Your try to shut your eyes again to run into the warm embrace of unconsciousness when you heard a murmur outside breaking your ticket back to a early morning nap
  430. >You groan a low murmur
  431. >You roll yourself off the bed and fall to your hooves
  432. >The cold floor send shivers up your spine expel all sulking emotion from your body
  433. >Slowly you walk out of the cabin, being sure not to wake any of your friends
  434. >You walk outside to see Starlight and Anon both sitting outside their front deck covered in blankets still talking away
  435. >You smile and approach them
  436. >Hopefully this long talk will have made Anon realize he has a new friend and then he'll definitely come back to Ponyville with you
  437. >You were confident Starlight, might get something out of Anon, but to be talkin-
  438. >Wait, one goddamn second
  439. >Is that a pot of coffee you smell?
  440. >A smell almost as tantalizing as Celestia's bedroom in a heat season
  441. >Your pace quickened over to the odd pair
  442. >"And so then he built a giant wall."
  443. >"And that solved everything?"
  444. >"Everything that had to do with border”
  445. >You call out to them
  446. "Hey guys"
  447. >"Morning Princess"
  448. >"Hi Twilight"
  449. "First-"
  450. >"Coffee's inside, by the kitchen. We made that last pot, what, half an hour ago?"
  451. >"That sounds right"
  452. >You don't miss a beat and head stair for the liquid gold in the kitchen
  453. >One cup later and you're ready to kill the day
  454. >You come back out to see Anon yawning very loudly
  455.
  456. >“And that’s it? He just made America great again”
  457. >”Yup just like that”
  458. >”Really?”
  459. >”Not really. We just like to say he did.”
  460. “So you two were up all night?”
  461. >”Yeah. I was just telling Glimmy about Earth.”
  462. “Really? You. Talking all night?”
  463. >”Hey, not my fault, I just wanted to go to bed, when she kept asking more and more about races and shit.”
  464. >”It’s all actually pretty interesting. Not the part about dindus getting shot, but the equal rights and that culture, and just everything is so in flux and-”
  465. >Anon waves off a hand in disinterest
  466. >”Yeah it sure is something, but it never turns out well getting to involved. I just know this shit.
  467. >”But those poor underprivileged-“
  468. >”Ab bah bah bup bup, I don’t want to get into it this early in the morning”
  469. >”But it’s easy if we just-
  470. >”So Twilight what’s the plan for the girls? You heading out later this morning”
  471. “Well, I don’t know. If you want we can wait, and you can join us after a nap.”
  472. >Anon goes silent
  473. >After a second though he starts humming
  474. >he leans back in his chair and rocks himself for half a minute
  475. >Starlight starts to yawn
  476. >”Well, I don’t know about you two, but I’m going to catch up on some sleep”
  477. “Alright, we’ll catch you later”
  478. >”See ya”
  479.
  480. >Now alone with Anon, he stops humming and rocking, letting silence hang over the area
  481. >”Twilight, I’m not ready to leave just yet.”
  482. “It’s okay, we can leave tomorrow”
  483. >”I don’t need a day. I need some time-“
  484. “You don’t have time”
  485. >”…”
  486. “…”
  487. >”Come back in a week and I’ll be ready. I imagine you girls have a lot of things to do. Applejack has a family. Rarity has a little girl-”
  488. “Sister actually”
  489. >”Family all the same. You girls can’t stay a week, but I need a week. Come back then and I’ll be good to go”
  490. >You bite your lip
  491. “Please, Anon, just come now an-“
  492. >”Twilight, it’s hard to lose a home, no matter how shit it is. I’ve already been ripped from my planet, and now this town. Nope. It’s just too close to me to just up and leave”
  493. >Your heart pounds hard as the hair pricknick at the back of your neck
  494. “You promise, you’ll be okay by then”
  495. >”Of course”
  496.
  497. Forenote: Shake me up a bit, and put a hoof to my neck to check for a pulse before reading this
  498. Dear Twilight,
  499. It is regrettable that I might not keep my promise. I am sorry, but don’t regret my course of action. I would like to thank you though for the opportunity to extending my stay on Equestria, but I am still very content with how things are. It is comforting though, that in my final days I had the last days I got to share it with others, albeit I would have prefer friends and family, but that is no shortcoming of any of you or your friends, especially from Starlight Glimmer.
  500. The fact we have never been friends in the past is unfortunate, but not the fault of you or I. This goes for all of your friends, as well as the ponies of Ponyville, and the citizens of Baltimare and the Equestrian TSA and the IRS, and etc and so forth. The only one I can blame for my lack of friendship is my circumstances of time and place as well as myself, where my already lacking social skills and very foreign concepts are lost completely on anyone I talk to, with the exception of the extremely eccentric ponies of Equalville.
  501. Maybe if we tried again. If we did it all over, just maybe we had a chance to be good neighbors, hang out at places, or maybe even save the entire world. But that’s not the case. Though who knows what death will bring me, we might meet sometime again.
  502. Sincerely
  503. -Anonymous
  504. P.S. Don’t look in my trunk under the bed. Just don’t.
  505. >”Twilight what are you reading?”
  506. “Oh nothing, Spike”
  507. >You sigh heavily as you place the letter into your scrapbook of all your friendship lessons
  508. “Just a letter from an old... friend of mine”
