- ||This pastebin covers my current state and my future plans in regards of speedrunning||
- (there is a summary at the end, in case you don't want to read it all)
- Lately I have been very burnt-out on speedrunning.
- I started experiencing this burn-out pretty much after I PBed in Yoshi's Island 100%, which was ~3 months ago.
- At that point, I had accomplished all of my speedrunning goals (except 1, which I will mention later),
- so I was left with nothing to do.
- That was when I stopped streaming regularly. I just had nothing to show.
- I started playing "casually" frequently again, which was a nice change from what I had been doing for over 2 years.
- After a while, I felt the urge to speedrun something, so I decided that I'd want to learn new games to speedrun.
- Games that I took into consideration where:
- -Super Metroid (any%)
- -Banjo Tooie (any% no DCW)
- -Zelda OoT Master Quest (DDM)
- (probably some others aswell)
- If you follow me on Twitch, you might have noticed that none of those ever came to be full runs.
- I did start learning them, but never got past the first 30 minutes.
- The motivation was/is just not there.
- At that moment, I felt like my speedrunning "career" was over.
- No motivation and no more goals to pursue.
- However, I did feel something else too.
- -The urge to return to my original speedgames-
- Especially during this past month (and thanks to a conversation with a good friend of mine recently) I came to the conclusion,
- that I want to pick up my "OGs" again.
- Looking back, throughout my way, I've never had as much fun as back then.
- I feel like I -truely- enjoyed these speedgames.
- They (almost) never felt like chores, just plain fun.
- Also these are a lot better suited for races than my other speedgames (racing is still a great passion of mine).
- So here are the plans:
- -Zelda: The Wind Waker (Low%)
- After being inspired by Cosmo in 2013, I started having fun with TWW glitches and eventually picked up Low%
- (sometime in 2014). It's my favourite game from my childhood. I want to give it the respect that it deserves.
- Goal - Sub 5:40 (maybe even sub 5:30 to bop Demon, we'll see)
- -Super Mario 64 (anything besides 0/1 Star probably)
- The game that really exposed me to the racing feature on SRL back in March/April 2013. Although I joke a lot about
- this game, and the fact that I never played it as a kid, I still hold it near and dear to my heart.
- One of the best speedrunning experiences I've ever witnessed myself.
- Goal - Sub 52 (70 Star) ; Sub 2h (120 Star)
- | SM64 will start at some point in 2016 (no final date yet), TWW will be the main focus for now |
- SIDE PROJECTS:
- -F Zero GX (Max Speed ; Snaking)
- I do feel the urge to play this game from time to time, and it is a good speedgame afterall.
- I'll see what comes out of it.
- Do not expect many streams of it though. I don't feel that comfortable streaming it, for some reason :/
- -Individual Levels
- This will mostly be in the form of Zelda TWW and -possibly- SM64 and Yoshi's Island
- -More non-speedrun streams
- I've been playing more "casually" lately and it's been fun :)
- These streams won't happen that often (since I can't properly stream my WiiU, which I play a lot)
- *EDIT: -Zelda Ocarina of Time Master Quest (Dungeon Dice Monsters)
- I'll try to finish learning the route and at least do 1 full run of it.
- I'll continue with that after the big TWW race on September 5th
- TL:BR
- -I got a huge burnout on speedrunning this year (2015)
- -Left with no speedgames to play, because all goals had been accomplished
- -Wanted to pick up new games, but lacked the motivation
- -Urge to revisit my "original" speedgames
- -Zelda Wind Waker (Low%) will happen for the rest of the year (and onwards)
- -Super Mario 64 will happen at some point early 2016
- -Side Projects (Individual Levels) will be streamed from time to time
- -More non-speedrun streams will happen from time to time aswell
- *EDIT: -Will try to do at least 1 full run of OoT Master Quest
- If you made it this far, thanks for reading :) this is very important to me
