There it is.

You can’t explain that sinking feeling of dread you have when you see it, but it’s a feeling of eldritch horror never before known by man. You are looking upon a message from the dark gods, standing out in a bright umber hue against the dark black abyss you’re facing now.

You gaze into it, and it gazes into you too, as the old saying says.

It’s so innocuous. Black as night, but still so simple.

But still somehow it beckons you to stare deeper into its nothingness, to lose yourself in the darkness for all eternity alongside it. You wonder how this could happen to you. Just one second ago you were sitting here, playing a game with yourself to bide the time before bed.

But now you stand before what you think is what nightmares are made of.

And its message is so simple, so… inviting. It stands out against the terror like a tiny light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s a simple statement.

“It is now safe to turn off your computer.”
