  1. Plains Events
  2.
  3. Snake Pit
  4.
  5. As you trek through the long, dry grass, a slight hissing draws your attention. Your hand falls to your weapon, and you freeze, scanning the area for danger. After a moment of stillness, you slowly relax, having found nothing. Keeping a sharp eye out, you continue to push through the yellow grass. You only manage to take a few more steps before the dirt drops off, and you let out a cry as you stumble into a shallow pit. Hundreds of snakes slither in a writhing pile in front of you, their glistening black bodies shimmering in the [sunlight/moonlight]. The hissing is overwhelming now, a sharp, oppressive sound that seems to grow louder for every second that you spend on the edge of this pit.

  7. >Run
  8. Without looking back, you turn and sprint into the tall grass, not stopping until the only sound you can hear is the rustling of the dry grass and your own heavy breathing.
  9.
  10. >Retreat slowly
  11. Keeping a careful eye on the glossy snakes, you retreat slowly, doing your best to slip back into the tall grass unnoticed. A couple of the glittering creatures turn their heads to watch you, their tongues flicking out to taste the air, but they seem uninterested, and you managed to make it out of the mass of snakes without incident.
  12.
  13. >Smite with magic
  14. Calling up a powerful magic spell, you focus your energy as you channel a destructive force down into the horrible pit around you. The sky above you darkens, and a swirling black cloud forms, before dark tendrils form in the air. They shoot down in the trench of snakes, enveloping it in a shadowy cloud until nothing but a scarred, blackened pit remains in the earth.
  15.
  16. Oppressive Heat
  17.
  18. You stop to wipe sweat from your brow as the sun beats down on you. It burns bright in the sky, an intolerable and unescapable presence in the desolate plains. Trees are few and far between, and what spindly shrubs can survive the hot climate provide little shade. You take a moment to fan yourself before starting your journey again.
  19.
  20. Sinister Growl
  21.
  22. You push your way through the tall, dry grass of the plains, your eyes scanning the flat horizon as you go. A low rumbling growl freezes you mid step, as your head snaps to the side. What is that? Your hand moves down to your weapon, and you scan the tawny grass, trying to make out any shapes in the tall brush. After a few moments of silence, having found nothing, you slowly begin to move again. Once you've reached a safe distance, you relax. It seems whatever it was has left you alone for now.
