- "I'm just going to explain my answers to every question, I think you guys can do more with qualitative than quantitative feedback- The forums aren't really accessible at all. The forum system is worse than how phpBB used to work in 2002. It's hard to find stuff because there's no way to tell what threads you've posted in, what threads you've already read, etc. The only thing accessible about them is that I know where to find them. The forums can be friendly, depending on what you want to say. Because of the way dislikes work and how much of a circlejerk the community is, if you want to say anything that might upset someone or go against a popular opinion, it's never going to be read and you'll be laughed off the site. The forums flat-out don't encourage debate. The tools in place for making quality posts are super limited, and the extremely basic layout of the forums makes discussion very difficult. Downvotes hiding comments doesn't encourage debate. The fact that any given large thread can have 3-4 discussions going on in it at once with no way to tell them apart makes complex debate impossible. I'd rather have a debate over Skype or IRC than on the EM forums. I mean, I guess I feel comfortable. I don't really know what would make me so uncomfortable that I can't post on a forum. Rules are easy enough to understand. If there are issues with the rules, clarity isn't one of them. Mafia is pretty hard to grasp. The lingo dictionary in-game helped a lot, but just the number of terms, roles, and game concepts you have to understand before you're remotely decent at mafia make the learning curve incredibly steep. Getting into the mentorship program as someone entirely new to the website is impossible. It's impossible to get accepted into the community at the very start. I don't think I had a friend on the website until I'd been a member for 2 months. Everyone already has their friends and anyone new is a threat/a noob/etc. and it takes a while to actually become a familiar face. I haven't joined a gold heart table yet. I'm still not very good at mafia and I get yelled at enough in red heart games, so I don't really plan on doing it, either. I don't think I've ever talked to a moderator about moderation or getting help. I've needed it a few times, but it seems to me that mods mostly only give a crap about the people in Main. I know how to use the mentoring system, but I don't find it helpful. I've signed on with 3 different mentors and never once received any help or mentoring. It doesn't really help much. I joined almost exactly a year ago. I know the site, but I'm not some legendary EM figure who's been around forever. I play in Sandbox and Survivor. I end up playing more games and actually spending more time in-game in Sandbox, though I spend more time out of game in the Survivor community and forums."
- "Create resources where people can read, learn, and/or practice different levels of Mafia strategy (I'd prefer something I can read/study from, something with examples and in-depth explanations,) create more lobbies for different types and levels of play (I notice that people report other people for stuff that could be considered a strategy. Shouldn't it be okay to play the game however you want? There should be lobbies for people to play "serious" Mafia the normal way with no game-throwing or whatever, lobbies for people to play Mafia however they please, and lobbies for people to goof around, like Sandbox.) Create a way for people to easily and/or anonymously submit suggestions and complaints, get the community more involved in interacting with those who run the site and the changes they inact, encourage more sportsmanship, patience and kindness (it is just a game after all,) shorten the time it takes to join games, let everyone have opportunities to lead, moderate, suggest and make changes to the site. Maybe this just bothers me, but I feel like a small group of Sandbox "elites" run Sandbox, and they hold popularity contests (best sandbox player, etc.) and do stuff that can really make people sad when they aren't included or when they don't do well. Sandbox and EpicMafia in general should be a welcoming place that includes everyone in everything."
