>you charge into the ICU ward, your loving beautiful wife is laying in one of the beds
>6 wrapped bundles are held in her arms, three in each arm
>she has her eyes closed, a doctor and nurse standing above her turns to you as you enter the room
>"Mr Anon?" the doctor asks, you nod.
>"would you mind for just a moment?" he makes a motion with his arm ushering you outside the room
>"i'm afraid the trauma was too much, during the pregnancy she lost too much blood and couldn't be stabilised."
>you start to panic
""She's not.. she-"
>the doctor interrupts your dark train of thought
>"we are doing EVERYTHING we can to keep her condition as stable as possible but we cant keep her like this for long, we need to talk ab- " now he is interrupted as the nurse standing by your wife's side shouts
>"DOCTOR HER SATS JUST DROPPED DOWN TO 70 BP PUSHING 190"
>Rapid panic beeping fills the air
>the doctor rushes in along with a few more and a crashcart
>the nurse removes the babies and places them on a large padded cart
>you stand there, unmoving, unthinking unhelpful
>your caring wife who was your rock, who you loved like no other died 7 minutes later
>you never even got to say goodbye. her newly born six children never got to see her face
>all that was left of her where, her books, a few old photos and your memoires.
>you broke down and cried in the middle of the hospital hallway
>none deared move you

- 15 years later -

>Twilight was always the first up, followed swiftly by applejack.
>the rest of your little family would still be fast asleep
"So Twilight you all going out today?" you asked as you began making them their breakfast
>"Yeah, that new movie is out today, we are all meeting up with some other classmates and going to see it!" she beamed with a wide smile
>AJ comes over to help serve breakfast
>"By the way." she says seriously "Raritys going to try and ask for a raised allowance, just a heads up."
"She can fucking try."

>a raised allowance, good lord you are not made of money, you know how expensive it is to raise six girls in their teens

>thankfully you have an acceptable income, you'll all survive though it won't be in the lap of luxury.

"Girls i hate to ask this of you but do you mind serving the rest for your sisters, i need to get to work."
>"You're not staying?" Twi asks a little disappointed
"i'm sorry honey I can't, I need to be at work."
>you begin packing your suitcase and making sure you have your essentials, phone, keys and wallet.
>grabbing your wallet you open it
>sighing, you take out a slightly crumpled 20 and place it on the table.
"emergency money." you stress and start to head off.
>you open the door and feel two sets of arms wrap around your waist.
"love you too, girls."
>you close the door and go to work.

>AJ begins rooting through the fridge or breakfast supplies for the rest of her sisters
"Have you noticed?" you ask AJ
>"Noticed what Twi?"
"How hard he's working lately, he doesn't eat with us anymore."
>"Well he's got a job."
"i just wish we didn't have to run the house."
>AJ stops fiddling around in the fridge and stares at nothing
>"You wish we didn't have to play Mom's roll."
"yeah." you say with a sigh

>your peace and quiet was broken a few minutes later by a very angry Rainbow dash from upstairs
>"AAAAH! PINKIE WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? FUCK OFF!?"
>If everyone else was asleep they sure won't be now.
>you and AJ chuckled
"I'm betting she splashed her with some water."
>"Nah, that was a scared shout, i'm guessing she was hiding something in her room."
>the stomping of a very angry sister is heard coming down the stairs and slams the kitchen door wide open.
>Rainbow is holding a large Fake plastic spider and a face of pure fury
>"Morning." AJ says in a sing-song voice, happy she guessed right
>"Whatever." Rainbow dash muttered. "where's Pops?"
"Gone"

>her angry face turns to one of annoyance.
>"Really, again? can't he even be bothered to wake us up anymore."
"Come on Dash, go easy on him." you say slightly annoyed at her attitude
>"We know you like to talk to Pa in the morning but he's busy lately with work." AJ tries to calm her down
>"besides." she continues "it seems like Pinkie is doing a fine job of getting you up early.
>she rolls her eyes
>"That stupid, stupid prank show of hers is going to be the death of me, you know what she did?"
>you both shake your heads
>"she placed this fake spider on my face then waited in the closet to record the whole thing."
>Dad would have loved to see that.
>Dad probably helped plan it.
>you'll ask him about that when he gets home.

>eventually everyone comes down to investigate the sweet smell of a freshly cooked breakfast
>it doesn't take long for everyone to start chatting about the day's plans or general gossip
>You get dressed and start heading out, meeting a few additional friends on the way to see this new movie
>you are tempted to use Dad's 'emergency money' to buy a few extra snacks
>Rarity wanted it too, but for more general shopping. thankfully you didn't, you where raised better than that

>to be perfectly honest you where all raised differently by the same man
>it was an interesting childhood to say the least
>you always demanded Pops to read you more each night, it fueled you love of books and study
>Fluttershy always wanted to play with cute cuddly things, you'll never forget her face when he bought her, her first pet
>Dash and Pinkie always goofed off and he let them
>AJ just wanted to help out all the time, she grew up helping with the cooking
>and Rarity, well she got away with murder always wanting to be the princess, she always got to ride on his shoulders, even when she got to big for him
>he's a good guy.

>the movie was awesome, everyone had fun
>seeing your other (non family) friends off, you head back home to find it empty

>Looking at the clock you can see it's 5:57pm
>Anon is normally home by now, you actually suspected to get a bit told off for being out all day when you all had homework to do.
>you especially with your grades
>Chalking it up to bad traffic you sit in the living-room with Dash, pinkie, Fluttershy and AJ as they start to play on the game console.
>some go-kart racing game you're not a fan of, you pull out the laptop and start reading news.
>it's now 7pm. your dad still isn't home
>you are now concerned
>so are your sisters.
>you've tried ringing him dozens of times. no reply
>"So what do we do Twilight?" Fluttershy asks
>your sisters turn to you for advice, technically you ARE the oldest, even if its by 2 minutes.
"It's probably nothing, maybe he went shopping and left his phone in the car."
>seems reasonable. your sisters nod in acceptance of this answer.
>It's now 9pm
>You've called Dad's work number, they told you he left at normal time, they couldn't get ahold of his work mobile either.
>Dash and Pinkie are sitting outside on the front step hoping he'll show up.
>Flutters is pacing, wearing a hole in the carpet.
>AJ went to the kitchen and started making you all some dinner.
>a car starts pulling up in your drive-way.
>in a brief moment your hopes are raised then dashed against the rocks
>it's a Police car
"Oh no." you say to yourself, somehow both Fluttershy and AJ heard you, Rarity comes down from upstairs
>only two figures get out the car
>your father isn't one of them
>you expected maybe he got really badly drunk and was arrested, that doesn't sound like his kind of thing.
>the two figures are both officers.
>you see them outside talking to Pinkie and Dash, before Pinkie heads back to the house
>"Twilight, they need to speak with us."
>she looks scared
>you are scared
>the two officers approach you.
>"Ms Twilight?" one says taking his hat off in respect
>"My name is officer Smith, we have unfortunate news about your Father Mr Anon."

>Your heart stops dead, you go cold in a flash
>Flutters makes a single sob before she's choking back tears and falling on her knees
>the officer clearly sees you where antisipating the worst outcome and speaks in a much more calming voice
>"He's not dead." he states clearly getting the important things out first.
>you all sigh in relief, apart from Flutters who is still struggling to stay calm.
>"He IS however in critical condition at the hospital, as part of accident and emergancy we are to contact the next of kin, which would be you.
"what happens now?" you ask having caught your breath and calmed yourself down
>"do you have any other parent or guardian who can take you to see him?"
>Everyone looks uncomftable answering that, you are about to say no, when you think of something
"Auntie, Celestia. she can take us i'm sure of it."
>"can you contact her?" the officer asks
>"yeah, i'll go do that." rainbow says as she bolts inside and makes the call.
"what happened, is dad.. is he okay?"
>"like i said, he is in critical condition, that means he's currently not doing good, there is the possibility of permanant damage."
>you nodded in understanding
>you hoped the officer would be joking, like he'd throw his hat away and shout 'nah you've being punked kid, your fathers fine look here he is right now!'
>he didn't do those things.
>"Celestia is on her way right now." you hear Rainbow say from the house.
>"okay, that's one less problem." the officer says to himself and his partner.
>the other officer who had remained quiet up until now turns to AJ
>"in case, Celestia was it? can't take you all to see your father do you have anyone who can take care of you at home?"
>AJ turned to you.
>"I can, i'll make sure everyone is okay here."
"thanks AJ."
>you knew nobody wanted to stay but the officer is right, a car only has 4 seats after-all. or rather 3 because Celestia will be driving you
"who's going to go? you ask

>in the end you decided that Pinkie, Fluttershy and yourself would go to see Anon
>mostly to ease Fluttershy's weak heart
>the police officers departed and not long after Auntie Celestia arrived
>she wasn't you actual auntie but she sure loved your little family enough to be considered part of it.
>the trip was almost completely silent with only the occasional sniffle from Fluttershy in the back seat.
>you pulled into the hospital carpark and wanted to sprint inside feeling a wave of worry suddenly come over you
>this may be a place of healing and respite but nobody wants to really come here, in the back of your mind you start to think about how many people entered it's doors and never walked out
>you stop yourself before you think about whether your father will be one of those people
>Pinkie senses your unease and lays a soft hand on your shoulder
>you nod, steeling yourself and placing one foot down in the entrance of it's sterile polished floors
>your auntie approaches the receptionist.
>"we are looking for Mr A, Anon. He should be here?"
>they talk while she pulls up his fills and answer some basic legal questions.
>"Ah, here we go, Anon is in room 207 on the second floor ICU, which is just through that door and up the elevator, can't miss it."
>you and your two sisters are already pressing the button waiting
>second floor.
>room 207.
>this is it
>you turn the corner and enter into a pristine white room that has an overpowering smell of disinfectant and ethenol.
>on one of the two beds that sit inside, one is a middle aged looking women with some quite intense looking burns on her chest surrounded by several 'get well soon' cards.
>the other is your father
>he is lying on the bed looking a complete mess
>bandaged limbs, IV Pack, blood bags, bloodstained clothes and a heart monitor
>you gasp at the sight
>Flutters hybrid runs up to him and tries to wrap her arms around him but can't
>she doesn't want to hurt him more

>she settles for collapsing on her knees and resting her head on his mattress as she begins to cry
>Pinkie doesn't look too happy either
>Your father isn't awake and from a brief glance you can tell he suffered a lot of pain.
>maybe it's best to let him sleep, you turn to pinkie
"I'm going to go phone home, let them know we have arrived, if a doctor comes please call me."
>pinkie doesn't make a joke, she doesn't laugh she just mutters "okay" under her breath
>you whip out your mobile
>before the first ring even finishes you hear Dash pick up
>"HELLO?"
"Dash it's me, we found dad he's okay. "
>he really isn't
>"Have the doctors said anything?" she asks
"We haven't seen one yet, we only just this moment arrived."
>"tssk, well what do you think?"
"I think he needs his rest, there are a lo-"
>you cut yourself off wondering if you should tell them how extensive your father's injuries are.
>you decide against it and deftly change the subject
"- a lot of things to do right now"
>smooth as sandpaper
>"like what? "
"he'll need a change of clothes for a start, hmm.. His boss will have to be informed too and the insurance company will need to be called I think."
>"Darling, Can we leave that to you?" you hear Rarity say over the phone
"Hello Rarity, yeah I can do that... I think. "
>you see a doctor walk in the room and then Pinkie starts to wave at you to come over.
" Listen girls I got to go, I love you all and I'll speak to you all in a few minutes."
>you hear a chorus of 'bye' before you disconnect and head back in the room
>the doctor is waiting for you before he begins

>he starts to list off multiple injuries your father suffered in his car crash
>broken bones, fractures, severed muscle, glass embedded in his body and life threatening blood loss
>"He's lucky to be alive."
>"Is their anything we can do?" Fluttershy asks
>"No, unfortunately we don't know if he'll wake up soon either, his injuries you must understand where horrendous, he needs his sleep."

>For the first time in your life you where at a loss of what to do
>it's almost 11pm, Fluttershy, Pinkie and yourself haven't eaten anything since after your day at the movies.
>your father is lying in a hospital bed in critical condition and if it wasn't for Auntie Celestia you still wouldn't have seen him yet
>You walk out the room and let yourself think
>what would your father do in this situation.
>you know exactly what he'd do
>he'd slap himself for being so stupid and then make sure you where all looked after.
"Food" you decide is a good starting point
>you can't do anything here, not until he wakes up and you have other family members to look after first.
>you phone home again, your call isn't instantly answered which must mean someone isn't panicking by the phone.
>AJ picks up
>"Hello?"
"AJ hi, I've spoken with the doctor and learnt what happened."
>There is a long pause before she speaks again, and there is no hint of humour in her voice only regret
>"How bad?"
"It's bad AJ, but he'll live. He'll make it. "
>you can imagine her nodding in agreement on the other end before muffled voices start asking questions
>"Okay I'll ask... Twi?"
"Yeah"
>"What happens now, are you staying there cause Rainbow says she can run some blankets and sheets over to you."
"We can't stay, I'm going to get the girls back home and we can sort this out tomorrow morning."
>"Have you eaten yet?"
"No."
>" Okay I'll put some grub on when you come home, see you soon."
>you where about to put the phone down when you hear more noise on the other end
>"Rarity and Dash say to give pops a hug from all of us, let him know we are thinking about him. "
>you say goodbye and go back inside
>Pinkie heard your call
>"we going back home?" she says unsure
"we can't stay through the night, we can deal with this tomorrow after we have had some food and got SOME rest."
>"I'm not hungry." she says looking down at her feet.
"I know, neither am i. Fluttershy?"
